Flashback 1
The first time Kol saw Bonnie was when she helped Esther with the spell meant to kill him and his siblings and the second time was when they crossed paths outside of Shanes office. But they never interacted in these encounters, it was just fleeting looks. The first time they truly interacted, was the time Kol tried to kill Bonnie to stop them from raising Silas, and to say he failed would be an understatement. Not only did he not kill her, but she also had him crumbling on his knees with her magic, and then she ran, leaving him on his knees in the school corridor.
Kol would never really admit that it was that moment he started falling for her. A newbie witch that got an original on his knees within a few seconds? That had to be one of the hottest things he had seen. But that wasn’t important right now, he needed to find a way to stop Silas from rising. He could make the little witch fall for him later.
But later, he died. He thought it was over. But was it?
In a few days, the veil of the other side came down, Kol could interact with the land of the living again, and instead of finding his siblings, he went behind the little witch. He went around, annoying her, asking her to permanently lower the veil so that he could live again, but really it was just an excuse to be near her. Could you blame him? He was dead, the least he could do was flirt before he had to go back to hell.
And then he got to know that bonnie died, that too for Jeremy gilbert. He knew they were close, they were close enough for Bonnie to perform a spell for Klaus just to make sure that Jeremy would be safe. But they were close enough for her to die for him? He refused to believe it.
Bonnie didn’t permanently lower the veil; they were both stuck on the other side together. But then she became the gate to the Otherside, and he was brought back by his mother. Now that should have been the end of their story, considering he had nothing left in Mystic Falls and she practically hated him. But it was only the beginning.
It was a few years later when he saw her again. She had come to their home in New Orleans, along with Caroline. But she was different, the Bonnie he had met was fearless, who stood up to the original family, but the bonnie that stood in front of her, was terrified. He suddenly heard three new heartbeats, and it hit him, the two women in front of him were pregnant, now he didn’t really understand how the vampire was pregnant, and truthfully, he didn’t really care either. Niklaus could worry about her, Kol’s entire focus was on Bonnie.
She was still as beautiful as he remembered, and even though she seemed scared, her eyes held the same fierceness as before, he could see how asking his family for help was not her idea. But then why were they here? And what happened the scooby gang?
Before any of the Mikaelsons could say anything, Bonnie broke the silence, “We need help. Well, more accurately we need protection.”
“And you came here because?” the confusion in Elijah’s voice was obvious.
This time it was Caroline that spoke, “Because we didn’t know where else to go.”
“Why not go to the Salvatores, they seemed very keen on protecting all of you. So, I ask again, why come here?”
The two girls look at each other, contemplating whether they should tell them the truth or not. And then Bonnie spoke up again, “Because we need protection from them.” her voice sounded unsure, like she too couldn’t believe what she was saying.
And just like that, another silence fell over everyone present in the room.
“From the Salvatores? As in Damon and Stephan? Last I checked they were your ‘protectors’.” This time it was Rebekah that broke it.
But before the two of them could say anything, Kol spoke up, “Elenas’,” everyone turned to look at him, “they are Elena’s ‘protectors’, the only person they care about in that town is Elena, and hence by proxy, about her friends.”
“But they are her friends, them needing protection from the Salvatores still doesn’t make sense.”
“Well, if you would just let us explain, instead of asking us questions and then just assuming the answer on your own, then maybe it would make sense.” Carolines outburst surprised almost everyone.
“Very well miss Forbes, lets go in and maybe you could help us understand why the both of you are here.” Elijah, being the civil brother, spoke up and walked in, with the rest of them following him.
