Dolonia Extra Chapter đź’š

The time of 2:34 shone brightly on his screen. A simple text read: I’m here, put the letter on your bed and come outside. It was from Wilbur.

Wilbur has just asked George to be his boyfriend. He said he wanted to elope and get married or something stupid like that. But George believed every word he told him anyway. It was mid December, freezing cold outside at the time. Some snow covered the ground lightly as small snowflakes fell peacefully from the sky.

The note was held tightly in George’s hand, he wanted to read it. Ultimately though, he knew it was for the best if he didn’t. He didn’t want to know what Wilbur had told his family, things were going to be better that way.

His family knew Wilbur. George and Wilbur had been friends for years before this, they never really hung out at George’s house though. They really went anywhere but George’s house. There were a few times however, and just because Wilbur didn’t like going there, that didn’t stop George from telling his family about him.

He placed the note on his pillow. The bed he slept in practically every night for his entire life so far was put together perfectly. No wrinkles could be seen on the covers and the pillow was placed perfectly in the center of the headboard. He took one last look around his room, he was really leaving. Without saying any goodbyes to his family, they had to be all fast asleep by now. The time was now 2:45, Wilbur was probably pissed he was waiting so long. Another text flashed up on his screen: George come on, we don’t have all night.

George had no reason to believe Wilbur ever meant to sound rude when he texted him. But this was different, how was he expecting George to completely give up his life at home and leave as soon as Wilbur asked him to? The command felt ridiculous to say the least. He debated heavily on just getting back into bed, but he remembered what Wilbur had told him.

“I’ll have to kill myself if you say no! I can’t bear to see you with anyone else. Maybe I’ll take you with me.”

The words echoed in his brain. If he got back into bed, Wilbur would kill himself. He would watch as his parents read the obituaries in the newspaper, having to see the face of his ex friend’s face looking back at him. It would all be his fault. For the rest of George’s life, he would have to deal with the fact that the only person he trusted other than family had killed himself and it was all George’s fault. He could never forgive himself.

So, the bed stayed tidy and George began his slow walk to the door. Something heavy was being held over him, like he knew this was a bad idea. Staying in the house was an even worse idea in his mind. There were no good options. At least he liked Wilbur. While he did have to give up his family, Wilbur was still there, he was always there. Another text lit up the hallway as George stepped out of his room: I’m leaving in five minutes.

A dim light shined under a door in the hallway. It was George’s sister. Olivia sometimes got scared at night still, so she had a nightlight in her room. She was always super embarrassed about it, she was thirteen after all. He smiled at the light, she would be ok without him. She was the youngest of four with three older brothers, she would be fine. Even still he felt terrible leaving her behind, she was always his favorite.

George rushed quickly down the stairs, making more noise than he would have liked. He slowly opened his front door to see Wilbur standing with his back to the car. He flashed a small smile and opened the passenger side door for George to get in. A smile rose on George’s face as well, he did love Wilbur, this was just the beginning. The light from Olivia’s room shined through her window. It had a comforting feeling to it with the Christmas string lights around each window of the house and the sma snow buildup on the ledges. This was home, but he could find a new home with Wilbur, this didn’t have to be sad, he would see them again one day.

“Can I see your phone?” Wilbur asked, holding out his hand as he drove.

“Uh, sure.” George moved to grab his phone from his pocket so he could hand it to his lover.

Wilbur’s eyes lit up with the phone in his hand, “thank you Georgie.” He smiled as he pulled George’s head in for a kiss.

“Keep your eyes on the road!” George playfully reminded Wilbur.

He didn’t know it yet but that would be the last time he ever saw his phone. Wilbur stashed it in his pocket as they continued their drive. The flat Wilbur had just purchased was cute. It was just the right size for them both, maybe even a pet if George could convince Wilbur. It was spacious with minimal furniture in it. Wilbur handed George an application for a job as a barista at a coffee shop across the street as soon as they got settled in.

“I think it'll be good for you.” Was all Wilbur told him, it was enough to get the latter to sign. “Did you bring the stuff I asked you to bring?” Wilbur asked.

George pulled a few important documents out of his bag he had brought with, “yep!” He eagerly awaited a response.

“Good boy.” Wilbur smiled, he ruffled the shorter boy’s hair before grabbing the papers from him. George didn’t know this either, but it would be the last time he saw those for a while too. Life would never be the same after that night. He thought a lot about it, he wished more than anything he had stayed in his bed.
