Chapter 1

Cleo De Nile, daughter of the now mummified King Ramses, had gotten into another cat fight with Toralei, her arch nemesis and daughter of a werecat. It was during their shared study howl class, Cleo had been diligently studying for her clawculus test that she had next period when Toralei had begun to throw little pieces of crumpled paper right at Cleo’s head. Clawdeen the werewolf and Ghoulia the zombie sat right beside Cleo as well, working on their group project about the hisstory of spider migration. The two hadn’t noticed the paper ammo being thrown in Cleo’s direction from a certain feline. Cleo grew more and more angry by the second, not only were the paper balls distracting her from her studies but they were also just annoying.

“Can you stop?” Cleo asked with a stern tone.

“Stop what?” Toralei snickers along with her fellow werecat cousins Meowlody and Purrsephone.

Cleo rolled her eyes, “you know what I’m talking about.”

“I really don’t,” Toralei leaned onto the table, “maybe you should educate me?”

Clawdeen looked up from her notebook, “what are you two on about?” The fashionista switched eye contact between the cat and the mummy.

“She’s throwing things at me!” Cleo stood up and announced loudly, making everyone in study howl look at her.

“Calm down, Miss De Nile.” The study howl advisor commanded.

“I would never do such a catty thing.” Toralei laughed.

“Explain all the little pieces of paper on the ground around me then?” Cleo pointed, still standing by her seat.

The study howl advisor finally looked up from her crossword puzzle, “have you been littering Miss De Nile? If I see that one more time I’ll send you to a cleaning hour of detention.”

“But I didn’t do anything! It was her!” Cleo pointed to the not so innocent looking feline.

“Miss De Nile, one more time-“

“But I-“

“Detention! All of you!” The advisor pointed to the table of girls.

“Awe what.” Clawdeen pouted.

“But Ms-“ Toralei started.

“Right now! All of you, Principle Bloodgood told me the attic could use a good cleaning!”

All six girls stood up in defeat and made their way up to the attic of the school. Bloodgood was right, the attic did need a cleaning. Being back up there reminded the ghouls of the time Howleen had found Gigi’s lamp. The last thing they all needed was another world ending adventure.

The first thing Clawdeen did when she got up to the attic was call in the other ghouls for back up. The sooner they were done cleaning, the sooner they could get back to classes. Maybe then they wouldn’t have to reschedule the test and presentation they might miss if they didn’t make it to their next period on time.

The three werecats strolled leisurely, making it clear they did not plan on doing any cleaning. Clawdeen, Cleo, and Ghoulia expected nothing less.

“Hey ghouls!” Draculaura, adopted daughter of Dracula, smiled, “we got here as soon as we could!” She announced as Frankie, the frankenmonster, and Lagoona, daughter of a sea monster, came out from behind her.

“Yeah, Mr Rotter was not buying my bathroom excuse.” Frankie laughed.

“Oh great, the rest of you are here.” Toralei rolled her eyes, the two other cats laughing beside her.

“Ignore them, thank you ghouls for coming, I knew we could count on you.” Clawdeen held Draculaura’s hand as she spoke, “time to get to work!”

Cleo strolled around, she hated how dark and dusty yet also damp the attic was, cleaning really wasn’t her thing. Back at home whenever something needed cleaning, Cleo asked her butlers to do it for her. As the glamorous monster strolled around a corner of old school times stacked to the ceiling, she saw a mirror on the ground. It was a small, almost pocket sized mirror with an elegant black trim around it. Her morbid curiosity caused her to blow off the thick layer of dust and take a look at her makeup.

The mirror’s reflection began to shift before her eyes as she picked it up, showing her all the things she wanted to see such as piles of new clothes and shoes made just for her. Cleo smiled to herself, if this mirror was tucked away in the attic, surely no one would miss it if she brought it home? Cleo looked around to see all her friends scattered around the attic, dusting, moving things around, and even on their knees scrubbing the floors, yuck!

Toralei snuck behind the mummy, just as the mirror began to shift its contents from things Cleo loved to things she hated, such as Toralei. Cleo rolled her eyes as she looked at Toralei through the mirror’s reflection, “do you mind?”

“Can I see it?” Toralei asked, not that she needed permission. She had already reached out to grab it before she had even finished her question.

“No! It’s mine!” Cleo argued, the two fought over the mirror until they both fell backwards, causing the mirror to fall on the tile floor and shatter, “you have got to be kidding me!” Cleo roared.

Lagoona walked over with a brush and a dust pan, “it’s ok! I’ve got it.” She announced, walking over to the two. The mirror shards were all over the floor between the two ghouls.

Cleo moved to grab the mirror, a few stray pieces still laid in the slick black frame. She took one last look into the biggest piece left, seeing a woman in a large feathered headdress in the reflection. Cleo threw the piece across the floor, “that is not what I look like!” A small evil laugh started to grow from the leftover piece. All the ghouls stopped and looked in the mirror's direction, even Meowlody and Purrsephone stopped scrolling on their phones to check it out.

A small purple cloud formed above the mirror and swirled around the room as the laughing got louder. “Uh oh.” Clawdeen said casually as a burst of light caused everyone to close their eyes. Upon opening them again the ghouls all found themselves in a small black room, they were definitely not in the monster high attic anymore. They searched around to see what looked like a broken window on the wall. On the other side a tall and slender woman dressed in full black smiled.

“I’m free!” The woman yelled, “I’m finally free!”

“Where are we?” Draculaura asked, clearly scared.

“You’re in my mirror prison. Well I guess it’s your mirror prison now isn’t it!” The woman laughed.

“What do you mean mirror prison? And why was a normie like you hiding in a mirror?” Frankie asked, no one else had noticed that the woman did in fact appear to be a normie, “how do we get out?!”

“You don’t!” That’s why it’s called a prison.” The nasty woman scoffed as if that information was clear. Back in the Monster High attic, the woman placed the piece of broken mirror she was talking into onto the ground and smashed her dark heel on it as hard as she could. On the other side, the broken window broke even more and pushed the girls to the ground. The room went dark, the woman was nowhere to be seen.

Frankie created a spark, lighting up the small space, “What do we do now?” She spoke.

Everyone looked at Cleo and Toralei as if they knew the answer, “how am I supposed to know?” Toralei whined. They were definitely not making it to their next class.

Chapter 2

Raven Queen, daughter of the Evil Queen, roommate of Apple White, daughter of Snow White, at the prestigious school; Ever After High. A school where everyone must follow their assigned fairytale destiny. Raven was set up to be the next Evil Queen from the story of Snow White forever after. That’s not who she was though. Raven was kind, she never used her magic for bad like her mother did but for the good of the people around her.

The Evil Queen has been trapped within the mirrors of Ever After after her attempt to try and take over more than just her destiny but everyone else’s as well. While the mirror she is trapped in allows her to appear in any mirror around the campus, it also blocks out any spells she has the power to create.

Despite her disdain for her mother, Raven still used her own magic mirror in her dorm to check in on her mother every now and then. Apple always encouraged it, while the blonde wanted everything good for her friends, she also wanted Raven to follow her destiny, more than anything. Her thought process must’ve been that Raven interaction with her mother would help persuade her to be more evil. That's what Raven figured anyway, trying to understand Apple’s mind was a task of its own that Raven did not have the energy for.

Raven woke up in the morning, ready to start her day. Apple was already up, her day began an hour ago when she began to silently get ready for her morning classes, “Good morning Raven!” Apple greeted her not so much of a morning person roommate, “Time to start this new beautiful day!” Raven lifted her head from her pillow to see Apple vocalizing with a few birds resting on her arm.

“Five more minutes.” Raven mumbled as she covered her head with her blanket.

“Only five this time! I’m extra hexcited this morning, its parents day!” Apple smiled brightly as she waved her bird friends goodbye.

Raven groaned from under her blanket, “Great, another day to remind me of how I can even hug my own mother.”

“You can at least talk to her.” Apple argued, “Plus, you could always hangout with my mother, Darling, and I.”

“Hard pass.” Raven laughed as she sat up in her bed, “I think I have plans with Maddie and her dad today anyway.”

“Suit yourself! Can you get out of bed already? I’d like to say hello to your mom before I leave our dorm for the morning.” Apple always wanted to say hi to the Evil Queen when Raven called her.

Raven got up from her bed with a small nod, she quickly got changed and stood before her mirror, Apple close behind. A small purple cloud started to form as Raven used her magic, she looked just like her mother. The mirror stayed the same for a while, “Why isn’t it working?” Raven pondered aloud.

“Try a little harder.” Apple hurriedly pushed her roommate.

“I’m trying.” Raven rolled her eyes with a small laugh, she has grown to expect comments like that from Apple. The mirror finally began to swirl into the usual video call Raven conjured in order to talk to her mom, “What the-”

“Um, that doesn’t look like your mom.” Apple interrupted as both girls stared into the mirror to see nine monster looking kids on the other side.

Raven and Apple both began to grow nervous, was this some kind of prank from the Evil Queen? Everyone at Ever After High knew monsters weren’t real, but these nine ghouls looked awfully real to Raven and Apple, “Someone’s here!” A mummy looking girl announced.

“Hi normies!” a teen with mint green skin yelled, addressing Raven and Apple directly, “Do you know how we can get out of here?”

Raven and Apple exchanged concerned looks with each other, “This isn’t funny Ms Evil Queen.” Apple nervously laughed.

“Evil Queen?” a short girl with pink and black hair questioned.

“Yeah mom, not funny.” Raven rolled her eyes, fully convinced this was a joke.

“I don’t think I’m a mom.” The green monster questioned, “Look we’re just trying to get back to Monster High-”

“Monster High?!” Raven and Apple shouted in unison, “but monsters aren’t real?” Apple continued.

“I don’t know mate, I feel pretty real.” a fishy looking girl smiled.

“If you guys are real then where is my mom?” Raven asked, concerned her mother had somehow once again escaped her mirror prison.

The nine girls trapped in the mirror looked around at each other, “There was this lady who trapped us in here back at school, maybe that's your mom?” The werewolf looking teen said unsurely.

Raven looked away from the mirror and put her hands on Apple’s shoulders, “My mom can’t be nine different people at once, they must be telling the truth. That means the Evil Queen is running around in some place called Monster High.”

“I- I don’t know, Headmaster Grimm always told us monsters aren’t real,” Apple looked towards the mirror once more, “they can’t possibly be…” the blonde trailed off.

A sudden knock on the dorm room's door caused the two roommates to break their eye contact with one another. Raven slowly ushered Apple to stay put while she made her way to the door. The knocking continued in no real pattern, Raven was sure it was her friend Maddie, daughter of the Mad Hatter from Wonderland. Still not fully sure, Raven slowly opened the door just to be pushed back by a bouncing girl with mint green and lavender curly hair making her way inside.

“Maddie!” Raven smiled as Apple moved to cover the mirror with her body. Small muffled sounds could be heard coming from the mirror.

Maddie continued to bounce over to Apple, “My senses are telling me something weird and outlandish is happening in here!” Raven gestured for Apple to move away from the mirror, she trusted Maddie more than enough to allow her to see the situation at hand, “Well I never… real monsters?!” Maddie concluded.

“Yes, we’re real! Can someone get us out already?!” The mummy from earlier demanded. Maddie looked at Raven with a look that asked “anytime now?”

“You think we should set these monsters free in Ever After?” Raven asked, clearly unable to believe that's what Maddie was suggesting.

“They just want to get home!” Maddie questioned.

Apple’s eyes widened, “How do you know that!? You’ve been in this room for maybe two minutes and you haven’t even talked to them?”

Maddie sighed, “I can feel it. It’s my senses, the same ones that lead me here silly!”

“That’s insane, you cannot possibly be thinking about letting these- these monsters out to roam around Ever After!” Apple yelled. Raven looked between the two girls, she trusted one significantly more than the other. Without a word Raven began to create another purple cloud and before the three knew it, the nine monsters appeared before them in the dorm room, “oh you have got to be kid-“

“Hi! I’m Frankie!” The mint green monster from before sparked, sending a small shock up Raven’s arm with her firm handshake.

“Frankie, they’re normies, be careful!” The wolf girl pulled on Frankie’s shoulders.
