Connection
Claude was observing his grandson as he went around the empty room doing his homework as he was informed by his grandson. The man with a hooked nose was his potions professor, who was a childhood friend of his Aunt that everyone thought, along with Ambrosius, as his mother.
He had never observed his own daughter, Athanasia, so he had wondered if she was as graceful as Ambrosius is. Lilian Robane, formerly Lilian York, was Athanasia's nanny since the day she was born. He kicked the woman out to exile his own daughter. And later came back to high society as Duchess Robane, the wife of his long time friend; Felix Robane, the current Duke Robane.
The magician is with his grandson, instructing the boy as he makes a potion with the professor gone. He had seen portraits of James Potter, his grandson fave his face. But he had stared at Athanasia's portrait even longer.
Ambrosius is the mixture of them. He has James Potter's face and messy hair but he has Athanasia's cheekbones, eyes, and the color of her hair. Hers was wavy, but Ambrosius was both wavy and messy. He initially thought that he would inherit James Potter's hair color, but he guess not, Athanasia's gene is just as strong.
As he watched his grandson stir the potion carefully, Claude couldn't help but wonder about the connections that brought them together. It was almost like fate had brought him to this point, watching over the child of his own daughter with the magician and his childhood friend hovering over them like a mother hen.
He couldn't deny that there was a sense of guilt and regret that weighed heavy on his heart. He had made many mistakes in his life, and he knew that he had hurt his daughter deeply by neglecting and choosing a different child altogether. He didn’t even know she died until decades later.
But as he looked at Ambrosius, he saw the potential for redemption. He saw a chance to make things right, to protect his family and to ensure that they had a bright future.
He knew that there were dangers lurking in the shadows, but he also knew that he had the skills and knowledge to keep his family safe. And with Ambrosius by his side, he felt a sense of purpose that he hadn't felt in many years.
As the potion began to simmer, Claude saw a spark of excitement in his grandson's eyes. It was a reminder that even in the darkest of times, there was always hope.
With a smile, he leaned over and whispered, "You're doing great, my boy. Keep stirring, and you'll have the perfect potion in no time."
And as he watched Ambrosius continue to stir the potion with care and precision, Claude knew that they were embarking on a journey that would be both challenging and rewarding. But he was ready for whatever lay ahead, as long as he had his family by his side. As long as he make it up to
The rest of the evening was spent in the quiet company of his grandson and the magician, discussing various topics and sharing stories. Claude couldn't help but feel grateful for this moment of peace, a break from the chaos and danger that seemed to follow them at every turn.
As the night grew late, Claude told his grandson to go back to his bed, but not before making sure he was comfortable and had everything he needed for a good night's sleep. As Ambrosius closed the door, he turned to see the magician and Felix standing there, watching him with a soft smile.
"You have a wonderful grandson," the magician said, breaking the silence.
Claude nodded, feeling a sense of pride and love for the boy. "He is my greatest treasure now. He’s all that is left of Athanasia’s memories,"
Felix chuckled. "I can see that, Your Majesty. You have a special bond with him."
“I hope it strengthens over time,” He had a small smile on his face, “It’s the only thing I could do. My grandson faced hardships for a very long time. I wish to elate that, to lessen his burden,”
The magician nodded in agreement. "It's important to protect and care for those we love, especially in times like these."
Felix placed a hand on Claude's shoulder. "You're doing a great job, my friend. We're here to support you, no matter what."
Claude felt a sense of gratitude for the two men standing in front of him. They were his trusted friends and allies, and he knew that he could count on them in times of need.
"Thank you both," he said, his voice filled with emotion. "I couldn't have asked for better friends."
The three of them stood in silence for a moment, each lost in their own thoughts. But Claude knew that they were all thinking about the same thing: the future.
They didn't know what lay ahead, but they knew that they would face it together, as a family. And with that thought in mind, Claude felt a sense of peace wash over him.
For the first time in a long time, he felt hopeful about the future. And he knew that as long as he had his grandson by his side, he could face anything that came their way.
