Chapter 5
Luna walked into the Quibbler's office, feeling a mix of emotions. She was still hurt from the party the night before, but she was also excited to start working on a new project. Her father had given her a heads up that a very important person was going to be joining the team, but he hadn't told her who it was.
Luna was surprised to find that the office was abuzz with excitement, and everyone seemed to be talking about the arrival of a new member of their team. Luna was curious to find out who this person was, and why they were so important.
As she was about to ask her colleagues about it, a tall, handsome young man walked into the room. He had piercing blue eyes
"Hello, everyone," he said with a charming smile. "My name is Rolf, and I'm here to work on a project with you all."
Luna watched as her colleagues rushed to introduce themselves to Rolf, all eager to impress him. She hung back, feeling a little shy. Then She walked over to the man and introduced herself. "Hi, I'm Luna. I hear you're joining us on this project."
The man looked up and smiled. "Yes, I am. My name is Rolf Scamander."
Luna's eyes widened in recognition. "You're Newt Scamander's grandson! I'm a huge fan of your grandfather's work."
Rolf chuckled. "Yes, he's quite famous in the wizarding world. I've always been proud of his accomplishments, and I've followed in his footsteps by becoming a magizoologist myself."
She couldn't help but admire his passion for magical creatures and his dedication to his work.
She had to admit, Rolf was a very handsome man. He had messy, sandy-brown hair that fell into his bright blue eyes. He was tall and lean, with a mischievous smile that always seemed to be lurking on his lips.
" Hey Luna, I heard you were the one who was going to help me out with this project," Rolf said.
"Yes, that's right," Luna replied, trying to focus on the task at hand. "I'm happy to help."
Rolf pulled up a chair and sat down next to Luna. "So, what's the project about?" he asked, his eyes sparkling with interest.
Luna explained the details of the project to Rolf, and he listened intently. As they talked, Luna couldn't help but notice how different Rolf was from Harry. While Harry was serious and brooding, Rolf was playful and lighthearted. Luna found herself laughing at his jokes and feeling at ease around him.
As they worked together. They discovered that they shared a passion for magical creatures and had similar interests in wizarding history. They would often lose track of time talking and sharing stories about their adventures.
………
Luna's insecurities were growing by the day. She couldn't help but compare herself to Ginny, and the more she did, the worse she felt. Ginny was beautiful, charming, and seemed to have everything that Luna didn't. Luna couldn't stop thinking about how Ginny looked at Hermione's birthday party and how much fun she and Harry had together.
"What if he's just using me?" Luna thought to herself. "What if he's just rebounding with me and then he'll go back to Ginny?"
Luna couldn't bear the thought of being a rebound for Harry. She loved him so much and she wanted their relationship to work, but she couldn't shake the feeling that she wasn't good enough for him. She remembered the secret jokes that Harry and Ginny had shared at the party, and it made her feel even more insecure.
"Maybe he's just with me because he's bored," Luna thought. "Maybe I'm just a distraction until he can be with Ginny again."
But Luna couldn't bring herself to talk to Harry about her insecurities. She didn't want to seem needy or clingy. She wanted to be the cool and understanding girlfriend, the one who didn't get jealous or possessive. So she kept her feelings to herself, hoping that they would go away on their own.
Meanwhile, Harry noticed that Luna was acting distant and aloof. He tried to talk to her about it, but she always told him that everything was fine. He couldn't help but feel like something was wrong, but he didn't want to push her too hard. He knew that Luna valued her independence and her space, and he didn't want to smother her.
One day, when they were sitting on the couch watching a movie, Harry couldn't take it anymore. "Luna, is something bothering you?" he asked gently.
Luna hesitated for a moment, then shook her head. "No, it's nothing, Harry. I'm just tired."
Harry knew Luna was lying, but he didn't want to push her too hard. "Okay, if you say so," he said, giving her a small smile.
But Luna couldn't shake off the feeling of guilt that was eating away at her. She couldn't help but compare herself to Ginny, wondering if Harry had made a mistake by choosing her instead.
As the days passed, Luna became more distant, spending more time with her work at the Quibbler
…………
Luna also soon discovered Rolf not only has good humor but he is also sly and a flirt.
Luna felt a bit uneasy with Rolf's constant flirting, even if it was just meant as a joke. She didn't want to give him the wrong idea or lead him on in any way. But at the same time, she found herself enjoying his company more and more.
Rolf noticed Luna's discomfort and decided to address it. "Luna, I hope I'm not making you uncomfortable with my jokes. I'm just having some fun, I don't want to make you feel bad."
Luna smiled at him, "It's alright, Rolf. I know you're just joking. But I want to be clear, I'm in a relationship with Harry."
Rolf nodded, "I understand. I just have bad luck, I guess."
Luna laughed lightly, "Don't worry, it's not you. I just love Harry, and I'm not interested in anyone else."
Rolf smiled at her, "I can see that. But I hope we can still be friends. We have a lot in common, and I enjoy talking to you."
Luna nodded, "Of course, Rolf. I think we can be friends. I like talking to you too."
One day, Rolf asked her to go out with him for a drink after work. Luna hesitated, not sure if it was appropriate given their working relationship and her relationship with Harry. But Rolf reassured her, "It's just a drink, Luna. We're both adults, we can handle it. And besides, it's not like we're doing anything wrong."
Luna thought about it for a moment before agreeing. "Okay, one drink. But just one only as a friend."
As they sat at the pub, Luna found herself having a great time. Rolf was charming and funny, and she found herself laughing more than she had in a long time. But at the same time, she couldn't help but feel guilty for enjoying herself so much while Harry was at home. She knows she only considers Rolf as a friend but still she doesn't help but feel a little guilty.
…………
Luna had a good day at work today. She finished her tasks early and decided to come home early to prepare dinner for her and Harry. She was excited to share her day with Harry and hear about his as well. She hummed a tune as she chopped vegetables for the stir fry she planned to make.
A few minutes later, Harry walked in and wrapped his arms around Luna from behind, kissing her neck. Luna smiled, enjoying the warmth of Harry's embrace. However, she soon pushed him away, asking him to freshen up before dinner.
As Harry went to the bathroom, Luna noticed his phone buzzing on the table. At first, she thought not to pick it up, but it kept ringing incessantly. She finally gave in and answered the call, only to find Ginny on the other end of the line.
"Harry's not here right now, can I take a message?" Luna said politely.
There was a pause before Ginny responded, surprised. "Luna? What are you doing answering Harry's phone?"
Luna hesitated before responding, "I'm his girlfriend. Can I help you with something?"
Ginny didn't seem pleased with Luna's answer. "No, I need to speak with Harry. When will he be back?"
Luna's heart sank a little at the tone in Ginny's voice. "He'll be back soon. You can leave a message with me, though."
But Ginny refused. "No, I'll just call back later when he's available."
Luna hung up the phone, feeling uneasy about the exchange. She couldn't help but wonder why Ginny was calling Harry so urgently.
When Harry came out of the shower, Luna informed him about the call.
"Really? That's strange. She didn't even leave a message?" Harry asked, looking perplexed.
Luna shook her head and tried to move on from the incident.
As they ate dinner, Luna tries to tell about her day " So today at work, I-"
Luna frowns as Harry picks up his phone to check the notification.
Harry reads the message "It's from Ginny. She needs my help with something ,she is asking me to meet her tomorrow."
"Meet her Tomorrow?" Luna asked, trying to keep the disappointment out of her voice.
Luna sighs "Of course."
Harry raises his eyebrow "What's that supposed to mean?"
Luna shakes her head "Nothing Harry, can we talk about your work? It's important," Luna said, her voice shaking slightly.
Harry looked up from his phone, "What is it?"
"I just wanted to ask how things are going with your latest project," Luna said, trying to sound casual.
Harry's phone buzzed again and Luna couldn't help but glance at it, seeing Ginny's name pop up once more.
"Everything's fine with the project. But Ginny needs my help with something," Harry said, his eyes darting back to his phone.
Luna's frustration grew, "Ginny always needs your help. Can't you just talk to her later? We're trying to have a conversation here."
Luna couldn't help but feel a twinge of jealousy. "Why does she always have to come to you for help? Can't she figure things out on her own? It's just that every time we try to have a conversation, she seems to pop up and interrupt us."
Harry sighed. "She's just going through a tough time right now. I want to be there for her as a friend."
Luna tone Gets sarcastic "Of course, because that's what you do for your friends. You drop everything for them."
Harry getting confused "What's gotten into you, Luna? You're acting so differently tonight."
Harry then sighed, "Luna, she's my friend. I can't just ignore her when she needs my help."
"But what about me? I'm your girlfriend," Luna said, her voice becoming more and more agitated.
Harry looked up from his phone, "What are you trying to say, Luna?"
"I'm trying to say that I feel like you're more interested in talking to Ginny than you are in talking to me. It's like she's more important than I am," Luna said, her voice shaking with anger and hurt.
Harry's phone buzzed again, but this time he didn't even look at it. He set it down on the table and turned his attention fully to Luna.
"Luna, you know that's not true. You're the most important person in my life," Harry said, reaching across the table to take her hand.
Luna pulled her hand away, "If I'm so important, then why do you keep checking your phone every time it buzzes?"
Harry looked down at his phone, "I didn't realize I was doing that. I'm sorry."
"It's not just about the phone, Harry. It's about feeling like I'm not as important to you as your Ex Ginny is .It's like you don't even want to talk to me," Luna said, tears welling up in her eyes.
Harry reached across the table to wipe away her tears, "Luna, I do want to talk to you. I'm sorry if it seemed like I wasn't paying attention. I'll put my phone away and we can talk about whatever you want."
They sat in silence for a few moments, both lost in their own thoughts. Finally, Harry spoke up, "Luna, I know I've been neglecting you lately. And I'm sorry ,I was busy with work. I'll make it up to you. How about we go out this weekend? Just the two of us. We can do whatever you want."
But Luna doesn't answer anything.
The next morning Luna sat at the kitchen table, sipping her coffee and looking out the window. Harry was busy in the kitchen, making breakfast for the two of them, but she didn't want to acknowledge his presence. She was still hurt by the fight they had the night before, and she didn't know how to move past it.
Harry placed a plate of eggs and toast in front of her, but she didn't touch it. "Luna, I'm really sorry," he said, sitting down across from her. "I didn't mean to make you upset."
Luna didn't respond, just continued to stare out the window. She felt like Harry didn't understand her at all, and she didn't know how to make him see her point of view.
"I know we had a fight, but we can't just ignore each other," Harry continued. "We need to talk about it and figure things out."
Luna finally turned to look at him, her eyes sad and distant. "I don't know how to talk to you anymore," she said softly. "It feels like we're not on the same page, like we're not even in the same book."
Harry looked hurt by her words, but he didn't say anything. Luna knew he was trying to give her space, but she didn't know how long she needed before she could face him again.
They ate their breakfast in silence, Luna didn't want to be around Harry, didn't want to be reminded of the hurt and confusion she felt.
