The Contact
Flagg's shoulder hurt, he was kinda wishing he used some of that Lazarus Pit to heal himself. Well, with the side effect of becoming completely insane, he knew it was best not to.
Right now, he had his shoulder wrapped in a cast......waiting in a sleazy bar to meet his contact. Why his contact wanted to meet in such a place, or why he was so late.......
Flagg waited for what seemed like hours, ordered a beer, and got himself some peanuts. Seriously, where was his contact!?
Soon, a man sat down in front of him.....and Flagg definitely recognized him. The man wore a blue trenchcoat and fedora, a dark blue suit and orange dress shirt.......and no face.
"Question....." Flagg greeted.
"Flagg......" Question responded, Flagg kept wondering if the Private Detective was actually looking at him, kinda like how it was hard to tell if Phosphorus was smiling or not.
"You got anything yet or not?" Flagg kept this from Waller and even his team.......Flagg had jackshit to blackmail Waller. Luckily, she fell for his bluff.......hopefully Question had actual evidence to use against her.
"I should actually thank you for this job," Question explained as he took out a file from his coat, "Waller covered her tracks well.......I almost wanted to call you and tell you to go fuck yourself."
"Well......thank you for not doing that." Flagg was actually confused if Question was insulting or still thanking him.
"I should also tell you I found more than what I was looking for...." Question pulled out a photograph, the one Flagg gave him for the investigation, Nina's father, "this is the photograph you gave me......" He then pulled out another photograph......it resembled Nina's dad but...... "I took this photograph a few weeks ago before I contacted you."
"Yeah......and you were 2 hours late!" Flagg stated.
"No, I arrived at the schedule I set up," Question retorts, "the time I gave you was a ruse, so that whatever lie you gave them, meeting a girlfriend, spending time with the family, whatever! They'll think you've been stood up and I arrive here, right on schedule."
Flagg's head spun at all this......the rumors were true, the Question wasn't an eccentric detective......he was just nuts!
Flagg took a deep breath to calm himself, then looked back at the photograph.......it wasn't someone who just resembled Nina's father, it was Nina's father!
"I can't believe it....." Flagg hoped this wasn't some joke, "you actually took this photograph!"
The Question pulled out an old fashioned, photography camera.
"The old-fashioned way is a much more guaranteed honest photo than a digital camera." The Question responded with a hint of pride, "Sadly, that's all for my investigation....."
"The Hell you mean that's it?" Why was The Question, the only guy whose a better detective then Batman, dropping the case!?
"I mean that though I do rummage through people's trash or even desecrate graves to find the truth-"
"Desecrate graves!?" Flagg was bothered by that.
"Not important," Question suddenly added, "but this kind of thing is too personal, I suggest you somehow get them to meet. A daughter needs her father."
Flagg then stared at the photo........Question was right, he's a complete loon but he's right. With all the bullshit Nina had to go through, she needed some good news.......but will what will she choose.
"Nina deserves the truth." Flagg served enough missions with the team to care about them. Flagg slammed his money for the beer.....plus tip.
Flagg took the file Question handed him and paid him the money he was owed, plus extra for the unexpected news.
"I'll keep snooping, been wanting to bring down ARGUS for a while." Question added as he took the cash.
"It's appreciated either way. See ya....." Flagg said as he left.
