The Heart Returns

 Several hours passed and the Commandos were practically in a war zone. The forest was set a blaze, bullets flew threw the air, and.......bodies littered the ground, but none of them are Brother Night's soldiers.

 Everytime a soldier guns done a skeleton, they reform and call forth more skeletons to gang up on that soldier.

 The only ones making an actual effect was Grundy, Phosphorus, and G.I.Robot! Grundy threw around Erik onto groups of skeletons, and even lifting up massive boulders to crush the bones till they were dust. Phosphorus was able to incinerate the bones with his radioactive touch. G.I.'s Tabk mode had the greatest firepower, the gatling gun mowed skeletons to pieces, and the cannon fired a red blast of energy that had the same effect as Phosphorus's touch. 

 Few soldiers were able to fight the skeletons and not be mauled horribly, thankfully, one of them was Flagg. Bride and Nina stuck together as Bride lead Nina to where Flagg is while firing away at skeletons. Nina was able to get G.I.'s old, severed arm to fire bullets, she wasn't the best shot so the bullets fired chaotically and only hit maybe one or three at most.

 The two finally made it to the group.

 "So, not to jinx it, but it looks like we're making absolute shit in this fight!" Bride yelled as she found Flagg.

 "Good to see you too, Sunshine!" Flagg yelled back, "Good to see you safe, Nina and good to see G.I.'s in his Tank mode!"

 "Where's Weasel?" Nina asked, worried as she hasn't seen their furry friend since the fight started.

 "I saw him run off into the forest!" Flagg answered, "Must've gotten smart and got the Hell outta here! What about your ex,  haven't seen hide nor hair of him?"

 "He's not my ex, he's a fucking stalker!" Bride responded, "Anyway, these bone fucks won't stop coming or even stay down! Any options!?"

 "Sides blowing the alter to Kingdom come, no, not really!" Flagg confessed, "Whatever it is Night did down. There I doubt could be undone by just blowing the shit outta all this!"

 "I may have a suggestion....." a voice said, calmly, yet the group could hear him easily even in a warzone. They all turned to see Khalis, ancient medical mummy and team medic, "We must undo this curse before destroying the alter."

 "And you can do that?" Bride asked skeptically as she shot another skeleton without looking.

 "I should be able to reverse the curse, just get me to the alter and I shall end this horror...." Khalis explained.

 "Can't you go yourself!?" Bride yelled, she was grateful for the mummy saving Nina, but sometimes, the guy was very demanding.

 "My knowledge rivals even that of Dr. Fate.....but my body is thousands of years old, we'll all be dead before I can reach the entrance......" Khalis explains......which makes sense, Khalis is always near the vehicles or they have to go to him.

 Then Nina stepped up to him.

 "I'll help you to the alter!" Nina said, which made Bride instantly panics.

 "Fuck no! You are not going near that creepy as fuck cave!" She lost Nina once......

 "The Skeletons won't attack the alter....." Khalis tells Bride.

 "Bride! I know you're worried, but everyone else is fighting for their lives! I need to help......" Nina refuses to be on the sidelines any longer. Bride grinded her teeth, trying to think of a reason why Nina shouldn't put herself in danger.

 She then felt Flagg's hand on her shoulder.

 "I'll go with them, placing charges and protecting them. We need to stop this!" 

 Fuuuuuuuuuuck! Flagg made a point! She hated that! But had less than no choice.

 "If anything happens to her, I'll empty my pistols into your dick hole!" Bride always had a temper, but Flagg knew she was only worried.

 She looks to Nina and sees how determined she was......the same way she was before Bride sent her to kill the princess......

 "Promise me you'll be careful....."

 "Bride....."

 "Please....." Bride's pleas made Nina give her a small smile.

 "Of course I promise." Nina then took Khalis's arm and helped him to the cave, with Flagg behind them.

  Bride felt nothing but worry......so she turned it to rage and started firing into more of those skeletal bastards. She soon picked up a heavy rifle and fired into the crowd, stomping on their skulls, which slowed them down from instantly reforming, and kept firing.

 Brother Night was enjoying the carnage that has unfolded before him. His skeletal army was unstoppable, modern weapons only slow them down and they have increased their numbers by resurrecting whoever they killed.

 The only problems were these Commandos Erik told him about. They were actually going to be a problem......wait, why isn't the fish girl with the Bride?

 Brother Night's eyes scanned the battlefield.......only to widen when he sees the fish girl and Flagg escorting what Night would've brushed off as a decrepit old man.....but Night sensed that old man's power!

 "Bugger!" Night flew off and landed in front of Nina, Flagg, and Khalis, "I see we have some folks getting bored and heading home. Now, can't let you leave without a parting gift...." Night's hand is then engulfed in purple flames. Flagg gets in front of his comrades and aims his rifle......

 Only for Phophserus to tackle Brother Night!

 "Get going!" Phophserus yelled as he grapples with the sorcerer.

 Flagg immediately signals for them to move. Nina immediately tries to get Khalis to pick up his pace.

 When Night was finally able to get Phophserus off of him, he took to observing his surroundings.....only to see his targets have escaped. Night turns his rage to Phophserus and readies his dark magic.

 Phophserus sees Night coming at him, so the former scientist's does the only thing he can think of.....turn up the heat. 

 Both fighters clashed in an epic power struggle, Mad Science vs Dark Magic! None of the soldiers from either side were able to interfere due to the effects their fight had, burning radiation and destructive magic practically reshaped the landscape.

 Phophserus was holding his own......until he felt the force of Night's pushing back his atomic flames, forcing Phophserus down on one knee.

 "Let's hope whatever the others are doing does something...." Phophserus said to himself as he kept trying to push back against Brother Night's powerful magic.

-Back with Nina and the others-

 Nina was able to lead Khalis and Flagg to the cave entrance......which was unguarded. 

  "I don't like this...." Flagg said aloud.

 "Indeed, Night must have put some type of obstacle to slow us down.......or he's just that arrogant." Khalis summed up.

 "Well, whichever reason, let's get inside and blow this alter to Kingdom Come!" Flagg went in first, turning on the floodlight on his rifle. What he saw made his blood chill.....

 Paintings on the walls describing all kinds of horrid events; floods, earthquakes, forest fires, plagues, starvation, war, etc. It was like this cave was dedicated to the causing of misery and carnage. 

 The one that stood out among the others though.....looked exactly like the picture Nina took. Flagg at first thought it was Satan, but something told him this....monster, was something else.

 "Khalis, do you recognize these images?" Flagg asked, hoping someone as ancient as Khalis could at least give them a clue.

 "I do not recognize the deity of this mural," Khalis confesses, "but the markings I recognize. The cult of Skath."

 "Skath?" Nina asked, thinking she may have heard of that name before.

 "We must destroy the alter......for it is a device of pure evil. General, as I work to break this curse, you must set the charges." Khalis instructs.

 "Already working on it!" Flagg yelled as he placed what must've been the fifth charge. Usually, Flagg would want to be as careful with demolition as possible, but he wanted to blow this place sky high......

 Flagg was brought out of his thoughts when he felt a massive presence behind him. 

 "Oh shit!" Flagg yelled as he rolled away from Erik's strike, "Erik, what the fuck!"

 "You promised you'd help me with my love!" Erik yelled, his eyes only partially regenerated and crying, "But instead, you betrayed me and helped that aquatic abomination take her from me!"

 Shit......Night must've teleported Erik here to guard the alter.

 "Khalis, you need to work fast! We got unwanted host!" Flagg yelled as he fired at a charging Erik!

 "Khalis, can you understand any of this...." Nina asked, while she can speak various languages, she didn't understand anything on the alter.

 "Yes Nina........some difficulty, but nonetheless......" Khalis says as he reads the alter faster than the untrained can perceive, "I believe I now know how to reverse the curse.......Nina, step back for your own safety!" Khalis orders as he starts muttering a familiar tone of song, the eldritch sounding one!

 -Back at the forest-

 Bride kept firing around, not stopping even for a second. The remaining soldiers were able to obtain heavier firearms, making more of an impact! Grundy and G.I.Robot were having the time of their lives!

 Phophserus.......not so much, he was down to his knees, barely about to counter Brother Night's dark magic!

 "For a man of science, you did surprisingly well......I'll be sure to write that on your tombstone, what was your name again? Doctor Phophserus, now surely that's not your real name!"

 Phophserus wanted to tell him a name that would sound like an inappropriate, yet funny phrase.......but his humor was lost to him as he actually felt like he was going to die.....all he could see.....were his wife and child.....

 Phosphorus looked at Night in the eye......or at least, what would considered an eye for Phophserus, and flipped him off.

 "I suppose every wanker deserves one last laugh!" Night complimented, but then raised an eyebrow when he heard his soon to be victim......chuckling, "Remember a good joke?"

 "Actually......just thought of one....." Phophserus responded, ".....right behind you....."

 "What did you think, that I'm falling for that old ga-"

 CLICK

 "How about this, man who is similar to a Nazi!" G.I.Robot  responded before he fired his laser point blank at Brother Night, "G.I.Robot will miss friend Phophserus, you are a true American hero!"

Hero, huh? He never thought he ever hear that.......least since his transformation......actually sounded nice.....

 G.I.Robot fired his cannon at max power, oblirating Brother Night, a good number of skeletons.......and sadly, frien-wait......is he still alive!?

 Phosphorus sat up when he noticed......

 "How the Hell did I ever survive that!?" Phophserus yelled as he sees while his clothes were obliterated, his body was just......a flaming skeleton.....

 "G.I.Robot wonders if friend Phophserus never knew he could absorb energy?" G.I. asked as if it was common knowledge. 

 "No, I never fucking knew that, till now!" Phophserus yelled, realizing he's naked, "Ah well, not like there was really much those were covering. Still feels good to wear pants...." Phophserus said to no one in particular. 

 -Back in the cave-

 Khalis kept muttering the ancient language, Nina noticed Flagg was fighting Erik, or at least not getting killed by the infamous Frankenstein's monster!

 "Oh no!" Nina whimpered, she had to help Flagg......but she wasn't stupid enough to actually try to fight the actual Frankenstein's monster!

 She had to think fast, and she had to think fast.....and smart to.....she remembers Flagg handed her a few spare grenades.

 She slowly crept to hide behind a pile of rocks so at the right moment, she can put.....well, wasn't really a plan just an idea.....hopefully it worked.....

 Flagg ran as he ducked under of Erik's swings. While Erik did regain some of his sight, everything was all blurry, making his swings just wild flailings instead of timed attacks. This gave Flagg the edge, Erik was bigger and stronger, bullets do shit to him, but he could see more clearly and his mind was focused, letting him avoid all of Erik's swings.

 Only problem, Flagg was an older human, his stamina was not what it used to be. Erik, however, seems like he's unable to get tired!

 "I thought you were my friend!" Erik yelled, "You are no friend of mine! You tricked me, so you could give her away!"

 "Oh, you have got to be kidding me!" Flagg yelled, noticing Nina with the spare grenades he gave her. He's going to try to have Erik focus on him so Nina.......whatever she was doing......

 "What!? That you wanted to be her father and lead her down the aisle for someone else who wasn't me!" Erik yelled......Nina was starting to see why Bride hated him so much.

 "Ok.....no! They fell in love by themselves, I don't control that! Like you can't control what's going to happen!"

 "What?" Erik asked before something hit him in the head, he looked in the direction of where the object fell, he picked it up to see it more....., "Oh....fuck..." Erik muttered before the grenade exploded in his face, damaging his eyes again and making him stumble back.....right near one of the explosive charges.

 "General Flagg, my spell is complete, activate the charges!" Khalis yelled, which made Flagg smiled at as he pressed the detonator. Erik heard a loud beeping......

 "Fuck......" 

 The charges went off, Nina grabbed Khalis and Flagg helped her by throwing the mummy over his shoulder.

 "Sorry for the discomfort, Khalis!"

 "Think nothing of it, general...." Khalis wanted out of that evil place as quickly as everyone else.

 The cave started collapsing as the three ran as fast as possible. Nina was definitely running faster with this threat of death! She was actually keeping up with Flagg, whose been out running her in order to help her with this kind of thing.

 When they all reached the entrance they jumped as far as they could as the cave entrance collapsed.

 It was finally over.....
