ZS Aftermath
Nina groaned as she sat up, definitely happy her helmet didn't shatter again....she doesn't need it, it's definitely some steps she needs to take to finally be ready to take her suit off for good. She looks to her right and sees Flagg helping Khalis up on his feet, both looking no worse for wear.
"Nina, you alright?" Flagg asked as he helped Nina to her feet.
"Ow!" Only for Nina to yelp in pain, "Ahhh, my ankle...."
"Is it broken?" Flagg asked as he helped her sit down so he can look at her ankle better, but soon moved when he noticed Khalis approaching.
Ancient Mystical mummy or not, Khalis was a doctor and a good one. The mummy barely glanced at the ankle.
"Her ankle isn't broken, merely sprained," Khalis concluded, "she'll be fine after some rest, but she needs to keep weight off it."
Flagg nodded as he had Nina lean on him to help her walk. They all looked back at the cave.
"Think he's dead?" Nina asked, talking about Erik.
"If not, he'll have a helluva time digging himself out," Flagg theorize, "come on, our team's waiting."
-Back in the forest-
All the soldiers were either collecting the now uncursed bones, tending to their wounded, or making Graves for their fallen comrades.
Even the Commandos themselves didn't come out unscathed. Phophserus had to burrow some spare pants and was having a hard time controlling the heat of his radiation, being forced to sit by himself. Grundy needed help getting impaled weapons out of his body. G.I.Robot's Tank mode was heavily damage, needing to be dragged into the truck while a soldier holds his head. Bride was the only one undamaged, but no one pointed it out since she looked more pissed than usual.
.......and no has found Weasel anywhere!
"How many more of these bones do we to collect?" Bride asked impatiently.
"Not much longer, ma'am. Think we should be collecting the last of 'em." A soldier answered, more than used to Bride's temper.
"Don't mind her, she's just pissed off because she's worried about her Angelfish!" Phophserus yelled, annoying Bride with facts.
Bride grumbled before seeing Flagg, Khalis and.....
"Nina!" Bride immediately bolted to Nina, until she stopped when she saw her limping, "Baby, are you alright?"
Nina gave Bride a loving smile as her badass, patch-work girlfriend helped lean Nina onto her shoulder.
"Just a sprained ankle, I'll be fine." Nina explains as Bride helps Nina to the truck.
"She also defeated a certain stalker." Flagg said, trying to make Nina sound impressive.......only it didn't.
"You did what!? Are you trying to get yourself killed a second time!!" Bride didn't mean to yell at Nina, but Erik took so much from her, Nina was literally the last good thing in her life, "You promised you'd be careful!"
"I....I was....I hid until I could hurl a grenade at him...." Nina tried to explain, "then when Khalis was done undoing the curse, we blew the cave up.....Erik was still inside....."
Bride noticed how Nina was close to tears, she felt guilty making her Angelfish cry. Bride gently hugged Nina.
"I'm sorry, it's just......." Bride tried to find the words, but it's been so long since she's felt so strongly about someone, apologizing was hard, "Erik took everything........I don't know what I'd do if I lost you......"
Nina relaxed a bit, glad her girlfriend isn't angry, just worried. She tapped on her helmet, which Bride instantly understood Nina wanted her to remove her girlfriend's helmet. Bride did help her, the water instantly draining for the helmet.
Nina looked beautiful to Bride, well, she always looks beautiful and adorable, but when the helmet comes off and her scales are sparkling from the remnants of water made her look like a living, blue diamond statue.
"I promised I'd never leave you again......" Nina explains, "and I plan on doing what I do best.....hide and survive. At least Erik won't give us any trouble for awhile."
Bride scoffed, "I've collapsed caves, towers, buildings, and a parking lot. The only thing I haven't tried was a mountain......best we can hope is a few weeks, maybe months if he was deep in the cave."
"More like years....." Khalis suddenly added, almost making the two jump. For a mummy, he was frighteningly quiet.
"Years? What makes you say that?" Bride asked curiously, like she said, she's buried Erik before, and at most he would be stuck for months.
"I made sure to place a seal within the cave to prevent any remnants of evil from escaping. In basic terms, he's trapped in a collapsed cave with a forcefield blocking the entrance." Khalis explains, "If I was centuries younger, that stalker of yours would've been sealed away for all eternity......sadly, if he is as strong as you say he is, he'll break the spell through sheer will.......but possibly a few years from now. My magic still has some bite to it." Khalis then makes his way, slowly, to the trucks.
"See?" Nina pointed out, getting an annoyed look from Bride, "He won't be bothering for a long while."
"I'd rather throw him into the sun or something....." Bride's frown soften when she looked into Nina's beautiful eyes, "I'm just glad you're safe.....so.I can do this...."
Before Nina could ask, Bride caught her lips in a deep kiss. The fish girl's eyes widen in surprise before they relaxed and settled into the kiss. This would count as their third kiss, but Nina was too into making out with her girlfriend to think, not even noticing her leg kicked up as their kissing continued.....good thing it was the sprained one.
"Alright already," Flagg said, interrupting their kissing session and annoying Bride, "you two can suck face some other time. We gotta grab our gear and get as far from this shithole as possible........and has anyone seen Weasel!?"
"Found him sir!" A soldier responded, which Flagg immediately marched over with a scowl. Bride and Nina decided to follow.
"I swear, why do we even bother having him on the team.....he didn't even...." Flagg stopped mid sentence when he saw why Weasel wasn't anywhere to be seen......
He was sitting right next to a crying little girl, who kept speaking German.
"Ah.....dang...." Flagg said, trying to watch his language in front of the child, "how did a child get here?"
"How about asking her when she calms down?" Bride pointed out.
"I don't speak German," Flagg confessed, "what about you, you've been alive for over 200 years, surely you know more than 1 language?"
Bride was about to retort when she felt Nina trying to get her attention.
"I've been studying multiple languages, I could try talking to her, maybe calming her down....." Nina looked to the crying child with sympathy.
Bride groaned, why is her scaly girlfriend such an angel....
"Alright...." Bride helps Nina to her knees near the child.
Soon, the two are having a conversation completely in German. To everyone's surprise, the child hugged Nina, refusing to let go.
"Her names Gretal, she and her father were out hiking when the 'scary skeletons' that chased them, separating them. We just need to find her father-"
"Gretal! Gretal! Wo bist du!? (Where are you)" The Commandos saw a man hiking up the trail, a massively built man with a bushy beard.
"Papa! Papa!" Gretal yelled, which when her father heard her voice, he sprinted over......only to be blocked by soldiers.
"Let the man through!" Flagg ordered, which they did, and the man only stopped when he saw who was holding his daughter, fear obvious in his eyes.
"Please.....my daughter...." least the man knew a bit of English, Nina struggled to stand, which Bride helped her up.
"Deine Tochter ist in Sicherheit, (your daughter is safe)" Nina said in almost perfect German. The father was hesitant, but gently took his daughter from Nina's arms.
"Thank....you...." The father said, his face showing actual gratitude, and as he walked away, Greta gave a goodbye wave to Nina, who waved back with a smile.
Bride walked up next to Nina, a smile of her own.
"Normally, it's sexy when a girl speaks French, but you speaking German is on a whole other level." Her compliment made Nina blush a deep blue, making Bride chuckle as she helped Nina limp over to the trucks so they can head home.
