[Doom x M!reader] Unbreakable bond
You've never thought about making friends until you've met Doom.
Being the eldest son to a powerful bloodline means that you didn't need to "surround yourself with trash", or at least that's what your father has always said.
The day you met him, your world was turned upside down. He, an individual with a sharp mind and honed body, worthy of your father's praises and was showered with recognition of his strength ever since he was born, was deemed "suitable" for being your friend.
In a blurry corner of your memory, Cyril Marcus's eldest son was surely different from... everybody else.

"So you just go find strong people to fight by... beating up and killing strong people that you found?"
Doom didn't answer your question, instead, he replied: "[Name], it's your turn."
You groaned and flicked your wand, yeeting Doom's bishop across the board with the rook.
"Check." Your lips formed an evil smirk. There is no way he can-
Except that he could.
The conventionally attractive silly slid his queen from the other side of the board to steal your rook.
"Checkmate."
Doom stared emotionlessly at you, the idiot who just stepped into his trap looking all tough, through his visor (despite being blind). He claimed to not enjoy playing against the weak, but look at this bitch now.
"Shut up. Just give me a few decades and you won't be smug for long." You glared at him, mumbling to yourself. Your ego sure suffered from losing a whole lot today. "Besides, chess is for geeks anyway. I bet I can hold my breath longer than you, bro."
Doom picked up the chessboard and tossed it aside. You could tell that something was bothering him this morning, yet it didn't feel right to ask him what might be troubling this man.
Dawg just put the fries in the bag and tell me what happened already!!
You squinted your eyes.
Suddenly, your phone rang from inside your cloak. You reached your hands inside and saw that your mother had called. She demanded that you come home immediately, as something happened while you weren't there.
"I see, of course, I'd be on my way." You replied to her and looked at Doom. "Well, that was awkward, gotta go."
He nodded his head, though you could sense that your friend was hiding something from you. Your instinct told you that he knew about what was happening, or that he was somehow the reason for the panic in your mother's voice. "Stay safe."
Or maybe... I'm just overthinking, lol.
Shrugging away the conspiracy you came up with in your head and the unnerving atmosphere surrounding Doom, you quickly left Cyril Marcus's castle and hurried back.

"And that's how I found out my best friend of 10 years was actually a fucking criminal WHOSE FATHER KILLED MY DAD." You picked up another rock and angrily launched it across the lake. "And the worst part of it was that his father has been an unhinge motherfucker this whole time!"
Meliadoul Amy shook her head in disapproval.
"That's not how you play skipping rock! Your form is all wrong!" She jabbed you in your ribs with a broomstick and continued. "Besides, when Innocent Zero was still Master's disciple, we all thought he just wasn't in his right mind, but he was a complete lunatic."
Balancing yourself from almost falling into the lake, you stared at the powerful magician standing right beside you.
After your father's death, you turned to other disciples of Adam Jobs to get stronger and seek revenge. Meliadoul Amy took you in and made you her disciple, although you couldn't offer her anything in return.
Every time you asked her the reasons she did all these things for you, she said: "Your commendable spirit is nostalgic."
As to why you two were standing here throwing pebbles right now, Meliadoul claimed that it would enhance your aiming ability and precision. To that, you would call bullshit and get your ass kicked by the third disciple of the strongest magician.
"Master, I heard that you were training a magicless muscle-head lately."
She looked at you.
"Is he strong?" You asked. Your Master declared indifferently.
"He is."
"Enough to defeat Innocent Zero?"
"..."
"I can't say for sure," She hesitated before answering your question. "but at the same time, he might be the wild card that we need."

MASTER, WHERE THE FUCK IS YOUR WILD CARD AT!
You genuinely had a mental breakdown while fighting for your life in the Innocent Zero's headquarters.
The second child of Innocent Zero tilted his head to stare into your souls as Orter blocked his sight. They started fighting almost immediately after Famin called Mádl a "boring" son of a bitch, to which Orter replied by saying he doesn't give a flying ****.
"Great, you two can have your main character moment, I'm just going to look for the man that killed my father-..."
Your wand almost snapped into halves from being attacked by Famin's clown-face device, and his sharp cards blew the hair around your face, making a clean cut.
"No way." The sadistic clown snapped at you. "That's lame, you're running away."
You did the slow turn and looked into his ugly ahh face. Your expression showed clear signs of annoyance.
"You little bitch..."
Famin summoned his Thirds. "Killing Doom's precious friend would be fun."
A big, evil, scary clown appeared on top of him, completely erasing his existence. Sweats covered the back of your neck as you tried to observe where he might be. The moment your opponent made a move, you could sense the invisible blade coming for your throat, but it was only natural for you to be able to dodge (don't underestimate the power of plot armour, son).
By the time he realized, you were already feet away, waving at him by the exit. "I don't have time to spend fighting clowns, gotta go kill your dad, bye."
Before Orter could voice his dissatisfaction with your action, Famin had already occupied him with rains of invisible magic attacks.
You ran down the hallways and up the corridors, checking every room to see where Innocent Zero might be. Loud fighting sounds could be heard inside the building, and yet none of them seemed to come from that man. You kept running and running, and suddenly, you ran into an immense amount of aura coming from the room on top of your head.
"Hmmm,... definitely not suspicious at all..." Your eyes squinted.

Doom sat on the debris, signalling Dot and Lance to come at him with their best attacks.
Within a short amount of time, two things happened at once.
First, Lance Crown and Dot Barrett were ratioed by an entity before they even knew it, then second, you plunge into the room.
Lance:......
Dot:......
Doom:......
[Name]:......
Well, that was awkward.
Reconciliation happening to you in this way was NOT in your bingo card.
The room went silent, and you could see your old "friend" standing on the other side with the bloody Caladbolg in his hand.
Doom broke the silence; he hesitated before calling you. "[Name]?... Why are you here... Did he let you in?"
Your breath stopped, brows furrowed.
"Don't you dare say another word. You know I'm not going to be on your side."
It wasn't like you didn't predict to run into him in a place like this. You knew you would have to confront your dearest friend one day, and yet a part of you hoped that he didn't know about the killing of your father so you two could remain friends like in the old days.
He is an enemy, you told yourself.
I should cast a spell, but my head hurts.
Your voice was hoarse when you spoke again like you had caught a cold. "Get into your defensive stance, Doom."
The tall figure across the room didn't move one bit.
You raged: "You brought this upon yourself... Summon Hephaestus, the God of Fire and Forge!"
The Greek god appeared behind your back. Hephaestus slammed his hammer into the anvil, making a loud clashing sound between two metals, sending waves of hot flames towards Doom. The fire engulfed his right arm.
He grew it back in front of your own eyes.
"Regeneration ability, since when did you-" You froze and let out a gasp. "... your father TOOK YOUR HEART?"
Doom raised his Caladbolg. You couldn't tell what he was thinking behind the visor that covered his eyes.
"...My objectives were more important than our friendship, [Name]. That's one thing I should confess before killing you."
Your eyes lit up with burning anger. "Do it if you can, 'cause imma beat you to a pulp."
The room was shaken up as Doom used half of his power to blow the floor up. You summoned a wall of steel with a flick of your wand, blocking shards of stones coming at you and the first years-Lance and Dot.
Before anyone could react, the other's attack slashed your wall into halves. You took a few steps back, casually brushing away dust or dirt on the sleeves of your cloak. As he approached you at a higher speed, you replied to his swings with a few pillars of fire from the underground.
The hot flare did not make Doom falter. His burnt skin was healing more quickly now compared to when you severed his arm. You took that as a chance to throw a close-up body blow, but he caught your hands just milliseconds before it came into contact with his thorax, then your leg, and then he lifted your whole body and threw you into the wreckage.
Smoke and dust rose from the pile of rubble that you landed in. Your quick reaction helped you cast a magic strong enough not to get seriously hurt, but the moment you stood up, you saw his face in front of yours.
BANG!
The rooftop formed a human-shaped hole as you got sent straight up.
You were being overpowered by someone you thought was your equal, and yet you didn't panic as much as you thought. Somehow, this fight felt so nostalgic, as if a corner of your memory was awakened by this all-so-familiar situation.
You knew that you were the stronger one, and I couldn't even make you use your Master Cane's power.
But we both understood that you weren't the strongest.
As Doom sensed your shadow behind the smokescreen, a flash of light hit his cheek.
You appeared as the dust fell, the air around you was scorching hot. "I did my best." The scene revealed two more people standing in the same room as you.
Finn Ames appeared behind his brother: "You look beat..."
"I am." You replied emotionlessly.
"Large partisan!" Rayne cast a golden sword and sent it towards Doom. However, the man stopped it with a single finger and simply pushed it away like a children's toy. He closed up his distance with the two brothers, almost killing the older one with his finger flick, but then stabbed his finger into Rayne's foot and threw him like how he threw you, but more brutally.
Finn tried helping, but a drop of blood got his eyes shut tight so his opponent didn't miss the opportunity to go for his defenceless eyes. Just when he thought he was done for, Orter arrived and stopped Doom from doing whatever he was trying to do. But he was no match for your "old friend", as Orter was quickly overpowered by Doom. You watched it all happen in less than a minute, not knowing what to do or how to stop him from massacring everyone there. Ultimately, Orter and Rayne were slashed by him as their magics were also drained from all their previous fights.
That was the moment Ryoh Grantz arrived at the scene. He put up a much greater fight than you or the others, but despite being stronger, he still couldn't bring out Doom's full power. By blocking an attack that was aimed towards Finn, he got himself injured, and Doom revealed that he was "sightless from birth". That's why Ryoh's Light Secondth didn't affect him as how it affected other people.
You stood next to Orter, Dot, Lance, Finn, and Rayne teamed up with Ryoh to fight, but Ryoh's Light Thirds could not do a single noticeable scratch to Doom, leaving everyone speechless. After that, everyone was picked off one by one while the one you were fighting didn't even break a sweat.
Ryoh Grantz stood up despite having his magic power drained and being hurt so severely. He said that humans will stand up against someone stronger to protect their loved ones, and "No matter what, we'll never stop fighting..."
Just as Doom was about to end the life of the strongest magician, Mash appeared on top of the descending stairs, and it stopped his eldest brother from killing Ryoh. He walked down the stairs with the main character's energy flowing in his veins.
Dot complained: "What took ya so long?"
Mash gave each of you cream puffs while everyone was bleeding like crazy.
"You can leave it to me." He said.
Will he be able to defeat...?
You held the cream puff in your hand. This magicless student would be everybody's last hope, and they would all be screwed if he lost. Under your breath, you muttered: "How must things become like this... Doom..."
One day, you two were friends; the next day, you found out his father killed yours, and now he was hurting your comrades and friends.
Tell me, what am I supposed to do?
The fight between the two children of Innocent Zero was on a whole other level. Your eyes could barely follow them, but Doom summoned hundreds of his avatar images with Mirage Thirds, surrounding Mash. Mash proceeded to bury his brother's avatars by drilling them into the ground and out of Innocent Zero's castle.
Doom expressed that he was truly grateful to have met Mash because he let him use his full power and lost without any regrets. Seconds later, he was already knocked to the ground. Before admitting defeat, he asked Mash what he wanted to be.
Mash told Doom he wanted to become a patissier because people don't get happy by hurting others, but by eating nice desserts. Doom thought and said perhaps he should make desserts too, like pancakes. At least one person would have laughed at the idea of him being a patissier.
But his brother would not.

Summoning every ounce of energy within your body, you walked over to the man lying on the ground.
He heard your footsteps and spoke up. "Why are you still here? Shouldn't you be leaving to kill my father already?"
"I will be going soon." You looked down with little emotions in your eyes. "What's with the family bonding moment? I always knew that Mash Burndead was your brother, but you two are closer than I thought."
Doom hummed.
"Is that so?" He could hardly move from the previous battle, yet his head still turned towards your direction.
"[Name]."
"..." You flinched upon being called. "Shut up, I still haven't forgiven you."
"I know."
"Just promise me you'll stay safe."
His words met your ears softly like a whisper.
You froze on the spot, chest tightening.
"Why..."
"You haven't said goodbye that time you left." The corner of Doom's lips lifted. " That last time we had this long a conversation, remember?"
A light red flush crossed your face. You scoffed.
"I'm really going to kill you."
Your "friend" smiled: "No comment."
