Chapter 8

Harry removes the silencing charm and sits off to the side again. Nothing changes. He still hates every second of it. His teeth are still too big for his mouth and he still feels the strong urge to take Draco away and never share him with anyone.

The break did more harm than good, instead of having regrouped and being refreshed and ready for the challenge again, he was no longer desensitized. Each movement Parkinson made towards Draco made him growl. When he finally holds it back long enough for Parkinson to put a hand to Dracos shoulder he can’t help but growl particularly loud and scent him.

He’d done it before when Draco had been harassed and he didn’t really have control over himself but this time he was prepared he should’ve been able to stop himself. Harry was embarrassed, he knew that they didn’t know but it was rude for a werewolf to scent you. Its claiming you as their own. Yes the smell is calming for Harry but only because it assures his wolf that no other wolf will hurt or come onto him.

If any other wolf were present they’d probably stay far away from Draco. Strongly scented people often can mean a particularly possessive wolf and if they get too close they could get killed.

“I’m sorry,” Draco makes a confused hum and starts to lace his fingers through Harry's hair, Harry accios a book about werewolves over to him but still doesn’t move his face from his neck, “Find the chapter on scenting.”

Parkinson tries to lean over his shoulder to read over Dracos shoulder, but Harry growls at her until she backs up.

“You can read it after Pans,” Draco says, reading through the book quickly.

***
Once Draco finishes reading it he passes it over to Parkinson. The book went into detail about how disrespectful scenting someone is but really all Draco can think about is the warm breath on his neck and how Harry thinks he was rude.

He slips into Harrys head to start trying to comfort him.

“Its okay, Harry,” Draco says in Harrys head.

“I just openly disrespected you.” Harry replies, trying to move his head from the crook of Dracos neck, “You should be offended.”

Draco continues to run his hands soothingly through Harry's hair unphased by the werewolves' attempt to move.

Harry continues ranting about all of the unspoken etiquette laws and how scenting someone who wasn't his partner was just- He didn’t finish saying what it was instead inhaling deeply into Dracos neck again.

“You smell really fucking good.” He mutters to Draco through the link.

Draco is so glad he couldn’t see him because he went bright red.

“Well you’ve seen my shower routine, I’d hope I do.”

“Not like that.” Harry says, his voice suddenly scratchy, but he offers no elaboration.

Parkinson raises an eyebrow at the both of them, “What are you guys talking about.”

“I think Harrys done for today,” Draco says.

He puts a hand out and takes the book back and puts it on his nightstand.

“Are you guys gonna fuck?”

“Pansy,” Draco gasps, “What the fuck is wrong with you.”

“I don’t know it just seems fitting,”

“Leave,” Draco points at the door and Pansy laughs before scurrying away.

Now they’re alone Harry doesn’t bother speaking through the mindlink. He openly whimpers but still doesn’t pull back.

He repeats ‘I’m sorry’ while Draco shushes him until he calms down. Once he is calm he finally removes his nose from Dracos neck.

“You should shower,” He says, but its obvious the suggestion is almost painful to say.

Draco shakes his head, “It’s fine, I want to make this easier for you.”

Harry's eyes physically brighten before shame takes over.

Draco casts a tempus and is shocked to see its almost midnight. He carefully pulls Harry up with him and they get ready for bed.

Harry seems a little shaken and Draco can’t completely understand why. He feels awful that a potion is making him hate himself so much and even as they lay in bed Harry stares at him with guilt.
Harry falls asleep before him and he watches him for a moment before deciding to research werewolves.

He whispers an accio of the book Harry had him reading earlier and sits up a little bit. Harry wraps his arms around Dracos waist and Draco whispers a lumos, keeping it dim so as to not disturb Harrys sleep.

The book isn’t very detailed. It goes into werewolf customs but only kind of. He’s sure there's better books about it but it does talk about two types of werewolves. The ones who embrace their new wolfish tendencies and the ones who suppress it. As he reads he can’t really tell which one Harry is. He hasn’t really seen him around other wolfs to be able to categorize him.

He doesn’t pretend like it doesn’t exist from what he’s seen but he doesn’t really act on his impulses. The book says its unhealthy to suppress your wolfish side and can lead to an especially difficult transformation on the full moon, a more violent wolf and eventually complete madness.

He thinks about Greyback. He’d never resisted his instincts but he acted inhumane, like he had lost everything that made him a person. Did he suppress his wolf side? Is that why he ended up like that?

He never noticed Harry acting particularly wolfy before, was he suppressing his wolf. He can’t bear the idea of Harry going insane. Maybe this potion is good for him, forcing him to show wolf. He feels bad thinking about it like that but maybe he’s right?

Harry tightens his arms around Dracos waist and he whines so Draco pushes soothing energy through the bond without thinking. Immediately his grip goes slack and he relaxes.

After a moment of hesitation he sets a hand in his hair and starts scratching lightly at his scalp. Harry doesn’t seem offended but he's also not awake. Is it really fair to say he doesn’t mind? He decides not to think too hard and accios another werewolf book, unsurprised when one flys into his hand.

When Harry wakes up from an especially comfortable sleep, not a single nightmare, he's greeted with a soft hand running through his hair. He looks up to see an exhausted Draco Malfoy mindlessly petting him while flipping through one of his books on werewolves.

He is utterly stunned. When he shifts a little bit a strong wave of calming energy surges through him. He blinks up at Draco. As if sensing his confusion he glances down at Harry with a frown before realizing he’s awake.

“Oh- Sorry,” He starts to retract his hand hesitantly but Harry stops him.

“It’s-” He pauses, “Nice.”

Draco laughs awkwardly but goes back to running his fingers through Harrys hair.

After a moment Draco turns around and blurts (Because there truly is no other word for it), “Are you suppressing your wolf?”

Harry stares up him, “What,”

“Do you even read?”

“Eh,”

Draco scoffs, “Do you listen to your wolfs instincts?”

“Uh no,” His wolf mostly just wants to lick Dracos neck right now which is rude and most of the time it just wants to growl at people, which isn’t generally acceptable as a way to express frustration is it.

Draco frowns, “Maybe you should,”

Harry laughs, “Do you know what my wolf wants right now, Draco,”

Draco shakes his head distractedly accioing a book that Harry knows he owns but hasn’t really read.

“He wants to lick your neck,” Harry nods towards his neck which still smelled delightfully like him.

Draco swallows loudly and Harry decides to tease him, “Do you still want me to follow my wolfs instincts?”

“It’s just that-” Draco breaks off and hands the book to Harry, “It’s easier if you would just research your own condition.”

“Fair.”

He flips to the booked mark page which goes into detail about the consequences of suppression. He never really read up on his condition because he never had the motivation, when he first was bit he was so scared and really just didn’t want to focus on it and now he just forgets. Plus whenever he tried to read he would find a lot of the stuff in the book he just knew instinctively.

But as he reads he starts to get nervous. According to the book he was suppressing his wolf. No wonder his transformations were so painful. If he had told Hermione he would never have put it off for so long. He finishes reading and stares forward blankly.

“None of my wolfs instincts are particularly subtle,” He tells Draco.

His eyes wander to his neck for a split second before he focuses his gaze back on his face. Draco can certainly tell what he’s thinking because he goes red for a couple of seconds.

“You can if you want,” Draco practically whispers.

***

Draco is terrified, he has no idea whats going through his head and he goes a little stiff as Harry approaches. Harry sticks his nose into the crook of his neck for a moment making Draco shiver at the electrical feelings coursing through him.

“Are you sure?” Harry whispers into his neck.

Draco can’t speak for fear of his words coming out shaky and unpoised, instead he nods and Harry seems to know.

Harry really takes his sweet fucking time doesn’t he. He starts with pulling his robes back to reveal his shoulder and running his tongue all the way up pausing at the artery to burrow his nose in again.

Draco inhales sharply when Harry opens his mouth on the artery and scrapes his teeth across it.

Dracos mind doesn’t wander for a second, every fiber of his being is focused on the feeling of Harry fucking Potters toungue. If only his eleven year old self could see him now. Harrys gaze rises to meet Dracos and its as if he knows exactly how its affecting him because a grin slinks across his face and he tilts his head at Draco.

Draco can’t sit there any longer.

“Would you look a the time we have to get dressed to leave,” Draco springs up from the bed and drags Harry to the bathroom.

Harry just followed looking completely dazed.
