It Isn't Hard To Do
Catnap stares at the precinct that's slowly growing larger and larger as he drives closer and closer. He has never felt this way before. The sensations of the palpitations all over him seem heightened from the adrenaline that was getting pumped throughout his body. Things feel slow and sluggish to do as he finally stops and parks. Getting out, the anxiety heightens, but Catnap berates himself a bit to get things together. 'You've got the easiest job in this operation, when things get actually tough, only then could you whine and bitch about how much anxiety and stress you have. Despite that, the harsh mindset that he has for himself doesn't help him get any less nervous. On top of that, it would seem that the cigarettes have worked a bit, he slept quite a lot longer and he doesn't feel too drowsy, but that means that he now has less time to try and get into Chief Proto's computer.
"Get it together, now. Your friends are counting on you." Catnap says to himself out loud to try to convince himself, which worked a very miniscule amount, but it gave him enough push to enter the precinct. Thankfully, he was still quite early, since not even Chief Proto was here yet. So acting now would be the best time to strike. Hell, accessing Proto's computer would be the easiest thing here, the harder thing to do would be convincing his brigade to try and switch sides.
But Catnap's not gonna think about that yet. For now, at least, he is gonna go to Chief Proto's office and look for the information about the prisoners. Turning it on, it doesn't take long before he sees massive spreadsheet of prisoners, all labelled for when they got incarcerated, and when their sentences end and everything. Catnap decides to just send the entire spreadsheet to Dogday, since combing through each and every name while calling Dogday doesn't seem practical right now. But while he's uploading, he can hear Chief Proto's car pull up to the precinct.
"C'mon, please hurry up, you piece of shit!" Catnap says quietly to himself. His anxiety is now going through the roof, yet, from an outside perspective, Catnap doesn't look much different than he usually does. Sunken and narrowed eyes, a downwards turned mouth, a slightly hunched over back. All of recognizable traits of Catnap. Right as the computer finishes uploading, Catnap could see Chief Proto open the door to his office. Catnap watched in slow motion, as Chief Proto enters his office and see the look of confusion and shock grow on his face, when he sees Catnap sitting at his desk and looking through his computer. That face them turns into one of anger as he goes up to Catnap and grabs him by the collar, lifting him up and off the ground. All the while, Catnap's expression doesn't change.
"What the fuck are you doing here, Lieutenant?" Chief Proto says as he brings Catnap's face right up to his.
"Just checking the files of some prisoners, sir." Catnap responds immediately, while also trying to keep as much distance between him and Proto.
"Why didn't you ask permission!" Proto shouts right at his face, Catnap flinches a bit in reflex.
"It would've been quick and easy, sir, but you interrupted me from doing it." Catnap replies, making Proto pin him against the wall.
"Oh really? Don't forget that I was the one who dragged your sorry ass out of that drug den and told the scientists to save you and then turn you into what you are, you ungrateful bitch! Back to your post!" Chief Proto says to Catnap, while shoving him against the wall multiple times, eventually letting go.
"Lord have mercy." Catnap mutters to himself as he fixes up his collar. A sort of coping mechanism to go past the fact he nearly lost his life at the hands of Chief Proto. Catnap then digs into his pocket to grab the Circadian Cigarettes, and lit one. He just needed to taste something other than an ulcer. The smell and taste of poppy seed bread filled his lungs and engulfed his taste buds, which calmed him down a small bit. But not really since it's not drugs. But anyway, back to the task at hand. Who the hell can Catnap convince to become a traitor? Definitely not Detective Chops, since she is literally a nepotism baby straight from the chief. Not Rabie or Touille since both of them would immediately tell on him. Same with Icky, but he would do it because he might get promoted to lieutenant. Simon is only in this for the cash, and Catnap doubts if Poppy's revolution would be able to pay him out. Catnap doesn't even know what Maggie would want other than sweets. And Allister probably couldn't care less, but would rather do the easier job, which would be sticking with the police. Which only leaves Poe, Catnap's partner. The kind of person who would not like to interact with anyone except for a friend, and or maybe family, but they don't talk about their family much. He'll talk to them later in the day, for now, it's time for briefing.
"Lieutenant Moonlight?" Chief Proto says to him with a bit of hostility, probably from this morning.
"Yes, sir?" Catnap says in a robotic tone.
" I've got orders from President Pierre that we're gonna take our eyes off of Poppy's Revolution for a bit and turn our attention to try and go after a human and critter trafficker, to which we only have a name and basic species, a black wolf named "Raw Dog", who is already quite famous in human territory but now he's decided to go back to his motherland." Chief Proto said. Catnap's hands trembled a bit, he shuts his eyes and his brow furrowed, even the mentioning of a trafficker just gets him to remember his time with...
"Lieutenant!" Chief Proto shouted which immediately got Catnap out of his monologuing and reminiscing.
"Did you get that?" Chief Proto said as he stared straight through Catnap.
"Yes sir. Me and the brigade will look for this Raw Dog critter and we're gonna start with investigating the Aristocrat's Hotel." Catnap said to a slightly impressed Chief Proto. Even though he was in another world, that doesn't mean that he wasn't listening in to this one. After getting dismissed by the chief, him and the brigade went straight to the Aristocrat's Hotel. Getting there and seeing the place, it really lives up to the name. A golden tower that pierces the heavens. When they got inside, the brigade kept ogling at the fancy decorations while Catnap kept them in order.
"Listen up. We don't have a warrant yet, so we're gonna be keeping our investigation on the down low, keep things incognito. Heard?" Catnap ordered the brigade in front of him, and all of them replied with a stern "Yes, Sir." The plan was that they split up to different parts of the hotel and ask around some of the tenants and staff. It wasn't the most efficient way, but it's police work. There didn't seem to be any suspicious people for how long they asked around, just the normal rich critters. It was only in the evening where Catnap was sitting down at a bar and eavesdropping on some conversations, he was able to see someone who matched the profile of Raw Dog. A black wolf, probably quite handsome, and likely preying on other women. And Catnap can see this scene unfold in front of him where a dashingly handsome black wolf is slipping drinks to what looks like a gazelle. Catnap couldn't just arrest someone without any evidence, so he watched as Raw Dog basically carry the lady to what Catnap assumed as his room as he slowly followed them. Right when he laid her on the bed, Catnap drew his weapon and kicked down the door.
"Freeze! Police!" Catnap shouted at the wolf, this definitely caught him by surprise, but Raw Dog quickly composed himself and smirked a bit once he saw Catnap.
"Well, aren't you a pretty kitty?" Raw Dog said seductively as he slowly walked towards Catnap. Catnap was taken off guard by this, as his hands started to tremble again and his words carried no authority. That was the same thing Ronnie would say to him as he violated him.
"Po... police.... Hands abo- above your..." Catnap couldn't keep his gun trained on the wolf as it trembled and fell to his side. Catnap started to back away and out of the room but Raw Dog grabbed him and pulled him back in, pinning him and his arms against the wall. Raw Dog was a good couple of inches taller than Catnap as his heavy breathing filled the air that Catnap was quickly breathing in.
"Well, hot damn! You're the cat that dear old Ron had his dick always stuck in. Looking at you face to face, I can definitely see why. You're real fucking gorgeous." Raw Dog said right as he smashed his lips against Catnap's. But right as that happened, Catnap was able to snap out of it. Quickly bringing his fist towards Raw Dog's muzzle, bringing him down to the ground. Catnap felt something possess him as a morbid smile grew on his face, he didn't see a wolf that was under his foot, he saw Ronnie. He pointed his gun right between his eyes, but then got a better idea as he pointed his gun at his bulging crotch. "This is unacceptable! An unauthorized use of force is absolutely unacceptable, even to scum like him!" Chief Proto was reprimanding Catnap who looked out of it. Catnap wasn't even listening to the words being said, but he already knew that he was gonna be let off for a while, and that hunch was correct after Chief Proto said "Give me your gun and badge." Which Catnap complied to and drove home. Even though the cigarettes were getting him to feel drowsy now, even though it was still around nine still, he saw an unfamiliar vehicle next to his house. Getting the spare gun from his car's glovebox, he slowly went to the already opened door and gave it a light tap as it slowly creaked open. And in his living room, he could see Dogday waiting for him on his sofa.
"You didn't say anything after you sent the prisoner info, and I got worried, so I decided to wait for you at your house." Dogday said as he got up from the couch and walked up to Catnap. Catnap just put away his gun at the table, having a mental note to put it back in his car tomorrow, and just went to his chair as he took off his vest and holster.
"I got let off, not because of your operation, but because of me and how I handled a case." Catnap said to Dogday who sat back down with Catnap. Catnap then proceeded to explain his day away, all the while, Dogday grew more and more concerned.
"Aww, you poor thing. I'm so sorry that happened to you." Dogday said as he got up and walked towards Catnap, kneeling down to put his head on his lap. Catnap saw this and started to lightly pat Dogdays' head, which delighted both him and Dogday as both of them smiled. Catnap, in turn, started to purr as he patted faster and Dogdays' tail started to wag. Catnap was also getting a bit drowsy as his eyes felt heavy.
"You did really good, Catnap. The information that you sent us, gave us more information than we thought, and lots of high value people and targets could be found at the prison." Dogday said to Catnap, who wasn't very excited about the compliment.
"I don't deserve this, I'm not a good person." Catnap muttered tp himself ,but Dogday was able to hear it, bringing a frown to his face.
"You do deserve this, Catnap. You really helped us out, and you're a really neat person to hang out with. So don't say that about yourself, and take my all of my love!" Dogday says as he jumps up and straddles Catnap's lap and gives Catnap's face a lot of kisses, getting some chuckles out of the cat. Unbeknownst to Dogday, he was accidentally rubbing something that gets Catnap silent as Dogday continues to kiss and lick Catnap's face.
