A Revolutionary

Catnap was now getting dressed, even though it was still around five in the morning. Instead of the easily recognisable police uniform. He decided to go with a white dress shirt, black slacks, and a weathered and faded gray trench coat. He doesn't remember ever buying these items, but they were in his closet and seemed to fit perfectly. After going outside and into his car, he decided to visit Dr. Sawyer first since Dogday told him that they should meet up at twelve noon. After driving for about 30 minutes, Catnap was now driving into the indoor parking garage of the massive ultra-modern building with a large neon sign that says 'Sawyer Industries'. The guard that was there immediately let Lieutenant Catnap through, since he was a regular here. Once he parked, he went up the stairs which led to the main lobby of the building and called the elevator, going oast the receptionist.

"Excuse me, but you need to sign in." The lady at the front desk said to Catnap. Catnap gave one look back and the receptionist immediately recognised him.

"Sorry, lieutenant, I didn't recognise you. You may move on." The receptionist replied, gesturing Catnap to the elevator which he went up and pressed the button for up. The elevator eventually went down and Catnap pressed the button for the thirty-eighth floor. After waiting for a few minutes, the doors eventually opened up to reveal a massive workshop and experiment floor, with countless critters and humans working on the newest and latest innovations. What Catnap's looking for though, is the man who's named after the building that he's currently in. Finding his way into the main workshop, he saw the man that he was looking for, leaning over a table, surrounded in a clean workspace.

"Ahem! Hey, genius!" Catnap said loudly to disrupt Dr. Sawyer from what ye was doing. He promptly jumped and looked behind him and immediately shook his head in disappointment.

"What do you want, lieutenant? You almost had me blow up my entire building!" Dr. Sawyer said as he took off his goggles from his eyes and rested them on his forehead.

"Just a refill on my shield, and some new prescription because this ain't working anymore." Catnap said as he took out the pill bottle of sleeping pills that Dr. Sawyer had created just for Catnap, and threw the container at him. Dr. Sawyer promptly caught it and shot a confused look at Catnap.

"Well... I half expected that. Here, sit down and I'll get my assistant to get you my newest creation." Dr. Sawyer said as he gestures to a dentist chair that was in the workshop and then and then started typing on his wrist strapped PDA. Catnap sat down on the chair as he took off his coat and rolled up his sleeve. Dr. Sawyer then brought out a new ripcord and a vial of purple liquid. Dr. Sawyer then opened up a panel on Catnap's nape and slotted in the vial as it started slowly to drain into Catnap. Then, he started to slowly slide the ripcord into an opening on Catnap's wrist. Just after Dr. Sawyer had finished, his assistant who was another human, had showed up with a non-descript black container.

"Ah! Here it is. Thank you." Dr. Sawyer said to the assistant as they walked out of the room again.

"This here is Circadian Cigarettes. These should be able to modify any circadian rhythm for any living creature, and make them sleep and any time that you wish. These are prescribed for making you sleep at around ten to eleven pm and will get you to wake up at six." Dr. Sawyer said to Catnap as he handed Catnap the box, which he grabbed hold of with his tail since he was currently putting his coat back on.

"So I just smoke this and it fixes me?" Catnap said as he takes the cigarettes in his hand, opening the container to reveal normal looking cigarettes.

"Precisely, they're even flavoured! That one's poppy flavoured and scented. Now please go about your business." Dr. Sawyer said as he started to continue his latest experiment. Catnap took one of the cigarettes and lit it, letting the air fill his lungs as he breathes out a deep red smoke. And it does taste and smell like poppies, but more like poppy seed bread.

Thanks, doc." Catnap said as he walks out of the room, and in turn the whole building. While smoking on the one cigarette, and pocketing the rest, he already felt quite drowsy. So he decided to head on home to have a nap since it was still morning. Getting in his car and driving back home, he decided to have a nap in his cozy synthetic leather chair. And he started to go into a deep sleep just as the cigarette went out....

Catnap could feel something other than himself existing....

He saw darkness surrounding him anda large vat, bubbling right in front of him....

He put his hand up to the thick glass and another purple hand came up to meet him....

Catnap woke up with a jolt. His heart was beating out of his chest, and he was quite damp with sweat. Checking the time, it was now about ten minutes before eleven. Just enough time to get to Dogday. Catnap quickly got up and grabbed the cigarettes from his pocket. They really worked, huh. He hadn't had a sleep this good and long in a while. So, quickly going to the bathroom to freshen up a bit had Catnap see himself in the mirror. He put his hand on top of the mirror as he remembered the dream. Pushing the thought away for now, he got out of his house and into his car. Club Long Legs was quite far from his house, but he didn't worry since it would take exactly one hour to get from his house to the club. Once he got there, it was only about eleven-fifty-nine. He parked and walked up to the bouncer, going past the line of people.

"Line's back there, sir." The hulking rhino said to him. Catnap simply opened up his trench coat and flashed his badge that was right next to his firearm and the bouncer quickly opened up the rope.

"Apologies, officer. Head right in." The bouncer said as he parted the red velvet rope and went off to the side as Catnap went past. The inside of the club was quite a bit more fancy than the other strip clubs in the city, maybe because the vintage speakeasy feel was more intimate, but either way it had quite a lot of patrons but not as much as it would get at night. Looking around, he finally spotted the orange cocker spaniel sitting down in a booth. Dogday also spotted him, as he waved to Catnap and beckoned him to come over.

"You showed up just in time, the show's about to start." Dogday said as he scooted over and Catnap sat down. He looked to the main stage to see Kickin of all people, strut onto the stage with a skimpy bunny girl outfit. Catnap looked on in surprise as he started to dance on the pole quite skillfully, going up, and down, and spinning around to the delight of the patrons.

"Madam Long Legs was down a few dancers, and she wanted one of us to replace them or she would've told the police that we were here. I would've volunteered if it wasn't for Kickin deciding on a game of bullshit. Loser has to go and dance. When he first danced on a pole to get some practice, Madam wanted to immediately hire him for how talented he was." Dogday nonchalantly said just as Kickin blew a kiss doing a spread eagle.

"Just another way to impress your boyfriend, I guess." Catnap jokingly said which got Dogday to chuckle a bit.

"Indeed. This past week Kickin had a pole installed in their house, so that whenever they want, Bubba can get a free show." Dogday said as Kickin grinded against the pole. Catnap, from where he was sitting, was able to see Bubba open the backstage curtains slightly, to see Kickin perform.

"Anyway, back to business. I want you to help us in Poppy's revolution. You'd be a good asset, and an even better friend." Dogday said as he took his eyes off the show and looked at Catnap in the eyes.

"Before I saw my answer, I just want to say one thing." Catnap said which Dogday wordlessly nodded.

"Why do you trust me? You know I'm a police officer, how do you know I won't just betray you?" Catnap said while looking into Dogdays' eyes. Dogday then got a bright smile and expression which just melted Catnap's fleshy heart.

"From the conversation we had, of course. You're a good person who was broken and went down a dark path. Also, I just have a good sense for these things." Dogday finished with a light chuckle. That last part was probably for Catnap to be able to trust him more, but he still didn't think that he was a good person.

"One more thing." Catnap said with a grim tone and expression, which immediately made Dogday tense up.

"I'm a fucking android." Catnap said so nonchalantly, which made Dogday widen his eyes in terror.

"In that first case, where I saw that fucking mutt choke on his own vomit, I got caught in an ambush. It was me against thirteen other people. I was able to take them all down with me, but I died at the same time. I got picked at random for some experiment on bringing dead things back to life" Catnap said to Dogday as he looked down and pointed to his heart.

"My heart is the only thing left of me. I watched as they incinerated my old and mangled body as an experiment to how I would act. I felt nothing." Catnap said as he looked back to Dogday.

"I'm not a good person. I'm not even a person. But I'm gonna help you." Catnap said as he extended his arm towards the still processing Dogday, who enthusiastically took it and shook his hand.

"Hey, Dogday. Did you get him to our side yet?" Kickin said as he walked up to their table. Dogday nodded and replied with an "Mhm." Kickin then looked to Catnap with a seductive looking smirk.

"Did my show encourage you or your decision at all, Kitty?" Kickin said as he started to playfully laugh. Making Catnap smirk a bit.

"Something like that." Catnap mockingly replied as Dogday also lightly chuckled. Catnap was then lead towards the backroom of the club, where the rest of the Smiling Critters were waiting. The room looked like a storage room that they've repurposed into a meeting or planning room with a table and a large map of the entire city on top of it.

"Alrighty guys, welcome the newest member of the Smiling Critters. Lieutenant Catnap Moonlight." Dogday said as the whole group congratulated Dogday for convincing Catnap to join them. Catnap wished that he got this kind of reception when he rose to the rank of lieutenant in the precinct.

"Alright, Bubba, fill him in on our next move." Dogday said as he backed away from the table while Bubba brought out some blueprints and laid them out on the table. Catnap could see that it was blueprints of the precinct and of Technofur City Penitentiary.

"Our target is the prison, where we're gonna break out some of our revolutionaries who are about to get executed a few days from now. And you're job is to help us find out which cell and cell block that they're in from Chief Proto's computer." Bubba said which Catnap immediately agreed to.

"Yup, easy peezy. Anything else?" Catnap said which Dogday stepped up to the table.

"Yes. We also want you to get as much help from the other officers. See who wants to go and join our side." Dogday responded. That was a little bit harder, but Cat ap still agreed. He had to impress his new friends after all.
