Too Precious
Catnap's ears were still ringing, and with his eyes closed he could only rely on smell and touch, but he could still feel Dogday, who was holding onto him very tightly, how did he escape from his handcuffs? He didn't know, but there were other matters at play tight now and one of them was that Catnap could feel him trembling slightly. Poor Puppy. He smelled quite wonderful though, scent of pure vanilla. Catnap, for once, was happy about his taller height difference, for he could rub his face chin all over the top of Dogdays' head. The fluffiness of his head and his ears just absolutely delighted Catnap. Why? He didn't know, he didn't know what the hell possessed him to act like this to a criminal, but he absolutely enjoyed every second of it while he was still deaf, which even made him start purring, and he felt his tail start periodically swaying from side to side. It took a couple minutes of Dogday trying to shout at Catnap for him to finally hear him.
"HEY! WAKE THE FUCK UP!" Dogday shouted out at Catnap who finally heard him that time. Catnap then finally opened his eyes and saw that he was rubbing his face all over Dogdays' face. He could also see that Dogdays' tail was wagging as well, but he decided to stop since he was supposed to arrest the dog, of course.
"Sorry...." Catnap meekly muttered out as he finally let go of Dogday. At the same time, the bubble shield had turned off and it's antenna went back down into Catnap's shoulder. What was now left of the room which they were in had turned into the remains of one. With them being the only things that were left intact, even the roof wasn't spared by the explosion, because now there was a massive hole above them which held a sky that was washed in a hue of orange and yellow, signifying that it was now late in the afternoon. Catnap grabbed Dogday by his arms that were cuffed behind him and by his shoulder, basically carrying him as his paws left the floor, as he walked up the rubble that formed some makeshift stairs that led outside. Once they were outside, Catnap looked around a bit to see Poe and the rest of the Nightmare Critters in their squad cars driving towards them.
"Aren't you gonna read out my rights, cop?" Dogday said to Catnap as he tried to turn his head to face him.
"Every citizen of Technofur City is always assumed to know each and every right, law, and the constitution of our country. Ignorance of this assumption is a lengthier sentence." Catnap said with a practiced and robotic tone. Dogday held a confused look as the squad cars finally came up to Catnap and Dogday. Poe got out of their car and walked up to Catnap.
"Holy shit. Nice work. Where did the rest of the group go?" Poe said as he walked Catnap back to the vehicle and opened the backdoor so that Catnap could shove Dogday inside, which he complied and entered the vehicle wordlessly.
"The rest of the Smiling Critters bounced when the bombs were about to go off, I'm unsure if they were able to escape the tunnels before the explosion went off though." Catnap replied as he closed the backdoor of the vehicle and opened the passenger door. Hoppy was looking through some binoculars a good ways away from the tunnels and the explosion, and he could see Lieutenant Catnap leave the debris with Dogday.
"Guys! Look! Dogdays' alive!" She said to the rest of the Smiling Critters, who also looked over to see that Dogday was gonna get taken away in a police car. Bubba then stepped up in front of the group
"Alright, you guys remember the plan, right? The one if Dogday were to ever get arrested and taken to prison? Well, we're gonna put that into action, right now. Let's get to following those police cars." Bubba said to the group, which had them all nodding and agreeing.
Dogday was silent the whole time Catnap drove them all back towards the precinct, which Catnap thought strange since Dogday was quite talkative when it was only Catnap talking to him. He even stayed silent even to the people who were interrogating him, but the only thing that he said eas that he would rather have Lieutenant Catnap dissect and interrogate him. Chief Proto, Detective Baba, and the rest of the Nightmare Critters were all in the listening room while Catnap entered the interrogation room.
"I heard that you were kicking up a fuss, not answering questions unless it was me asking them, correct?" Catnap said while walking towards his seat, Dogday gave a slight smirked and slowly nodded as Catnap grabbed onto the backrest of his chair.
"I see. Welp, let's go through the rounds then. What is your-" "Wait a minute." Dogday interrupted Catnap, which gave him a confused look as Dogday held up his hand which were cuffed to the table.
"I don't want to be asked the dime a dozen questions that the police usually asks, and I definitely don't want to hear them from you. I want you to ask me stuff about myself, a proper conversation, you know?" Dogday said as he leaned into his seat. Catnap, in turn, smirked as he went to sat down on his seat.
"Alright, I'll bite. Dogday Daylight, how was your childhood?" Catnap said as he smirked and put his left arm behind the chair, crossing his legs.
"Well, it was a normal ol' childhood for any ol' critter. Mom and a Pop, had no siblings, I had lots of friends though, they're real dependable most times. Now, what about your childhood, Left-tenant Catnap?" Dogday said as he raised one eyebrow, Catnap, in turn, chuckled a little bit at the term.
"Really a pedantic on words, huh?" Catnap said with a grin before it gradually turned into a frown as he looked to the side.
"Mine was quite lonely, I never knew my parents, I was raised in an orphanage for my whole life until I decided to join the police academy." Catnap said as he looked towards Dogday with a serious expression, who had a somber expression.
"There was this one son of a bitch, he followed me to the academy from the orphanage. He was always bigger and stronger than me, and he thought that I looked cute." Catnap held a very small smirk as Dogday and the people in the listening room were getting more and more grimace on their faces.
"I can't remember how many times he took advantage of me, but I eventually graduated with flying colours, and he failed because he was also fucking one of the instructors. And here's the punchline of the story. My first case had me going and destroying this little drug den, and who do I see fucking drowning on their own vomit while laying on a bed? That fucking mutt. He was already taking his last breath, right when I got into the room and saw what was happening, so even if I wanted to save him, it was too late. But the fucking smile that grew on my face when I saw that it was him slowly dying in front of my eyes..." Catnap said as he leaned forward on the table, his eyes grew wider and his smirk grew into a wicked smile. Catnap backed off and relaxed back into his seat, mimicking his last position with a relaxed look. Dogday had a mortified expression as the Nightmare Critters and Chief Proto looked on at the scene with pity.
"How about you, Dogday? How did you lose you virginity?" Catnap said to Dogday, which immediately brought him out of whatever he was thinking about and got him flustered.
"I... Uh.... I.... Wh-wh-what?" Dogday stuttered out as Catnap's smirk grew wider, he also started to laugh a little bit.
"Oh, wait a minute. Are you still a virgin, by chance?" Catnap said as he pointed towards Dogday, and at the same time, winked at him.
"Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. No, no. I'm not a virgin. I..... I'm not a virgin." Dogday stuttered a bit because he was quite flustered with the question that Catnap asked, while Catnap was getting a kick from seeing Dogday go from composed and holding the initiative in the conversation, to a stuttering and bumbling mess.
"Are you now? And who did you lose it to?" Catnap said as he leaned onto the table, with his head resting on his fist.
"Well, I lost mine to a girl. Hoppy Hopscotch. Back when we were young, we were curious about sex, so we tried it on each other, that was that and we're still friends. That's all." Dogday said while stuttering and stopping along the way.
"So you haven't done it with a man yet?" Catnap replied to Dogday. Dogday looked a bit more relaxed and comfortable now, but he was now periodically checking the wall where the one way mirror was.
"I have, once where I topped and once where I was a bottom. Another friend of mine, Kickin, He wanted to do ot with his boyfriend, Bubba, but he was apparently too big for him. So, he asked me to.... loosen him up, as one would say. And he also topped me because apparently both him and Bubba were switches and he also wanted to learn how to have sex." Dogday said so casually. Catnap had a straight face while listening, but as for the critters in the listening room, there was now a whole lot of awkward tension in the air.
"Well, that's interesting. I've only been on the recieving end of sex when it came to other men." Catnap said as he leaned back into his seat.
"If you haven't done it yet... I could help with that." Dogday said with a seductive voice as he leaned on the table, Catnap scoffed at his obvious attempt.
"Oh, you're gonna offer yourself? Sorry but that's not gonna work on me. I found my own way of coping from my trauma, and that's drugs and cutting." Catnap said as he grabbed a container from his jacket and opened it, revealing a white powder. He then padded his finger on the powder and started to spread it on his teeth.
"You.... You hurt yourself?" Dogday said slowly to Catnap, who was currently feeling the effects of the drug.
"Goddamn! Huh? Oh yeah, sure. Here, look at this." Catnap said as he presented his left arm to Dogday, rolling up his sleeve and pushing away hus fur to reveal many scars on his arm, some which looked old and some that looked new.
"I don't do the cutting too much anymore, because now the sensation has dulled. But it adds to the experience." Catnap said as he extended a claw on his index finger and slowly pushed it into the underside of his forearm, drawing blood as he dragged it all the way down to his hand. Dogday was looking on with a concerned look towards the new open wound which Catnap had hid by putting his sleeve over it. The Nightmare Critters looked on in pity and concern, Catnap had told them of his self-harm whenever he goes on a bender, but they never saw him do it.
"I know what your plan is. You're just trying to stall for time until your friends come along to break you out of here. That's why you wanted me to ask about other shit and not about the case. That it?" Catnap said to Dogday as Dogday shifted a little in his seat. Eventually, Dogday wordlessly nodded. Catnap then got up and grabbed his chair and put it on the door leading out, blocking anyone from getting in.
"When are the Smiling Critters gonna make their move to free you?" Catnap said as he walked back towards the table, leaning his arms against it. Dogday then looked back towards the one way window, Catnap also looked over and checked the wall clock that was above it. It read twenty minutes past nine.
"They're gonna come in three, two, one-" When Dogday finished counting, the blank wall beside them blew up, then the Smiling Critters ran inside the room. Everyone in the listening room, started to panic and run to get inside the interrogation room, except for Chief Proto. Bubba and Kickin were aiming guns at Catnap, and as Catnap was about to draw his weapon, Dogday stopped all three of them. At the same time, Hoppy destroyed the cameras, microphones, and covered the one way window with black spray paint.
"Hold it. It's okay, guys. Catnap, you could really help us out with Poppy's revolution. Just with our conversation, I feel like you don't belong in this line of work, you're too precious for it." Dogday said as the door behind Catnap started to tremor from someone trying to kick it down.
"I'm not sure. Let me think about it."" Catnap said as Dogday went up and kissed Catnap right on the lips, with Catnap being surprised, but didn't even try resisting. Dogday then pulled away and put himself right next to Catnap's ear.
"Meet us at Club Long Legs. Tomorrow, twelve noon." Dogday said as he and the Smiling Critters left. A few moments later, Chief Proto was able to break down the door and the rest of the Nightmare Critters followed him in.
"What happened, lieutenant?" Chief Proto said to Catnap.
"My day off is tomorrow, right?" Catnap said to Chief Proto, as he wordlessly nodded.
"I'm gonna pay the good doctor a visit. Then after that, I'm gonna go to a strip club. Don't bother me." Catnap said as he left the room, leaving the dumbfounded Nightmare Critters to investigate the large hole in the wall. While Detective Baba and Chief Proto grew weary of the lieutenant.
