Chapter 6
The next day
Zira's POV
I woke up due to the fact that it was both too hot and something heavy was lying on top of me. When I opened my eyes I came face down with white fur and immediately knew Snow thought it was a good idea to sleep on me. I gently pushed her off me and looked at my watch.
It was only 7:15 a.m. and I let my maoc out to see what the others were doing. To my surprise everyone was asleep even Shota. I looked at my phone and had a message from Inko.
She texted me that she had to uncle for an urgent business trip and would be gone for 4 months. I knew this would break Izuku and Eri because they wanted to make a family day and it was ruined. I got up slowly from the bed and jumped in the shower to fully wake up.
I got dressed and went downstairs to make breakfast. Night and Snow followed me to the kitchen and I gave them food first. I washed my hands and started cooking, not a whole 15 minutes during my cooking I heard someone coming downstairs. I looked behind me and saw a sleepy Izuku
'' Good morning sunshine,'' I said caressingly
''Good morning Zizi,'' he said and yawned. He rubbed his eyes
'' In a moment there will be breakfast you can set the table and wake up the rest of the sleepers. Yes Shota too. I made him sleep 9 hours'' I said and he nodded his head.
As I was finishing I heard three pairs of stupas coming downstairs. I looked at them
'' Good morning sleepers. How did you sleep Shota? I hope you had a good night,'' I said and handed him his coffee. He looked at it strangely
''Try it. It's good for the morning'' I said and when he tried it I got a hum of satisfaction. After a short while I got my answer
'' Good morning Zira. I had a very good sleep. i can't remember when i was so sleepy'' he said
'' I'm glad to hear it. Now sit down the food is ready'' I said and we sat down to eat. After a while, I got a question I didn't want to answer
'' Sis where is mom?" asked Izu and I quickly looked at Eri
''She must have arranged something," I said with a forced smile. I looked at him with a special look and he took over the message, I could feel Shota's curious look. I started a quiet conversation about something else to draw their thoughts away from Inko and for a long time it worked. After breakfast I knew that I would not avoid this conversation
'' Eri why don't you watch TV with Snow and Night. Me and Shota will help clean up Auntie'' said Izuku
'' Okay Daddy'' replied Eri and headed to the living room. We cleaned in silence
'' Let's go somewhere where Eri won't hear this conversation. I don't want to worry her,'' I said as we finished cleaning and went to my office. I was glad it was soundproof and Eri wouldn't hear the conversation
'' How much'' began Izuku
'' How much will she be gone and don't try to defend her Zira. I know you want good for me but you know better what she will earn most of it goes to alcohol for her and parties'' said Izuku nervously and Shota started to worry. I took a deep breath
'' She will be gone 4 months this time and how do you know " I asked
'' I have known about her behavior for 2 years. I know you wanted to defend me from it but I want the whole story now'' he replied before I could finish the question. Shota looked at me concerned
'' Can you tell me what is going on and can I help'' he asked worriedly
'' Zira will tell you everything because I don't know myself when it started'' said Izuku and they both looked at me. I took a deep breath
'' It all started when you were 3 maybe 4 years old Izuku when I started helping with my inheritance. You know I am rich and I wanted to help you even though I was 12/11 years old and had access to it. I didn't worry about running out of money because through investments the money was flowing into my account all the time. Back to the problem on our hands. It all started with one glass of wine before bed. It was all good until she drank 1.5 liters of a bottle of wine in two days " I said
I didn't think about tum because I thought she was having a hard time at work. Slowly she drank more and more and that's when I started to worry. Most of the time at home she wasn't sober and I didn't know what to do. I did everything I could to make sure you didn't notice it and gave you a bad impression and memory of her. I knew I couldn't call anyone because you had already lost your dad I didn't want you to lose your mom " I continued
" Even though she wasn't her to the end I didn't want you to go to the orphanage because I knew we would be separated and I wouldn't be able to stay with you. We had food at home after I bought everything you needed and hid any signs of alcohol from you. This dragged on for 2 1/2 years and I was losing hope that Inko would snap out of it. Every time I wanted to talk to her about it she would dismiss me or tell me to mind my own business and not hers '' I said tiredly as if something was taking away my strength. After a while I continued
' 'Were you wondering why you have that scar above your right ear '' I said and tears came to my eyes and Izuku quickly hugged me and nodded. I took a shaky breath
'' I only left for 10 minutes to a nearby store because I was missing a few things for dinner. When I returned I heard you crying and ran into the apartment.
You were sitting in the hallway with your head growing over your ear and it was bleeding quite badly. I quickly called my nurse knowing that she would help you and that woke Inko up. Our nurse arrived quickly and healed you but you were left with this small almost invisible scar. This shook Inko quite a bit and she was sober for 3 almost 4 years until she fell back into the bad habit. I knew I couldn't trust her anymore so before I let her get close to you I checked to see if she was sober. I knew I had to be there for you because Inko preferred to drink and party. I honestly don't know what happened to me she was great, caring and I don't know where this Inko went. I tried my best for you to have a normal childhood not paying attention to what she does'' I said and there was silence.
Izuku and Shota hugged me tightly
'' Thank you for everything Zira'' said Izu
'' You are a great and strong woman don't forget Zira'' added Shota. We sat like that for some time and before I knew it it was lunchtime. They said they would help me and we headed to the kitchen together.
I decided to make lasagna and we made it quickly. After a tasty dinner and cleaning up the kitchen, we sat down together to watch a movie. We spent the rest of our day being lazy and decided to order dinner because no one wanted to cook.
