Meeting up with the Dursleys
Lily had, on this particular day on which everyone was home for once, gathered all of the inhabitants of the house in the living room.
"Hello family." She started.
"Hello" Mary waved, it was unnecessary but it somewhat took the pressure and anxiety from it.
"What it is Lils?" Regulus asked.
"I've been writing my sister." Lily announced.
"Yes?" James waited for more to come.
"She and I we decided to meet up, with our families." She added.
"So we come with, who exactly would join you?" Mary questioned.
"I've told her about our arrangement and she's expecting all of you to show." Lily stated sternly.
Regulus nodded.
"Are you sure Lily? You and her don't exactly have the best relationship." James interjected.
"Nevermind that. She and I we will meet up and you will join us." The redhead ordered.
Everyone eventually agreed.
And so it came. Everyone got ready to go to a park in a muggle town. Lily made sure everyone looked presentable.
"Regulus, thank you so much." She laughed.
"What for?" He asked confusedly.
"Being presentable and making sure James is as well." The red head thanked.
"Ah I see, you're welcome then." Reg smiled.
"Mary you look wonderful as ever." Lily praised.
"Thank you, it's one of my favorite dresses." Mary blushed a bit. It was indeed a very pretty dress, it was off-white with blue small flowers scattered all over it.
"Wonderful." Regulus looked at Mary's dress.
"James, you look very handsome." She kissed him.
"Thank you, you look very pretty as well." He smiled.
"All good to go then?" Lily made sure.
Everyone nodded and so they started their journey.
About an hours later they arrived at the park. Petunia and Vernon were already there.
"Petunia, it's been so long." Lily went to hug her sister.
"It has hasn't it." Petunia Hughes back, "You remember my husband Vernon."
"I do, hello good to see you." She replied.
Vernon gave a nod.
"And you remember my boyfriend James." Lily reminded her sister.
"Ah yes. James, hello." Petunia stuck her hand out, waiting for James to shake it.
"Petunia, lovely to see you." James smirked shaking her hand.
"This is Regulus, James' boyfriend." Lily introduced Reg.
"Hello Regulus." Petunia said, repeating her last action.
"It's wonderful to meet you Petunia." Regulus smiled, not shaking but instead kissing her hand.
"Oh, such a polite one." Petunia laughed.
Regulus looked a bit distraught at her reaction but decided to ignore it for now.
"And lastly this is Mary, my girlfriend."
"Good to meet you." Mary stated, shaking Petunia's hand.
"The same to you Mary." Petunia replied.
"Let's get to talk a bit now." Lily suggested.
Everyone had somehow left Lily and Petunia to talk by themselves. Mary, Regulus and James had sat down with Vernon, presumably talking about sports on the TV.
"So how have you been Petunia?" Lily asked.
"It's been fine, Vernon is doing good at his job. He's actually asked me to stop working, he wants me to be a housewife." Petunia announced.
"Oh, well do you want to do that?" She inquired.
"It's not like I'll have a choice soon." Petunia mumbled placing a hand on her stomach.
"Are you- no you can't be right..?" Lily started smiling.
"We're pregnant." Petunia looked away for a second.
"I'm so happy for you and I'm sure you'll be a wonderful mother. I'd like kids at some point too." Lily assured.
"Are you trying yet?" The brunette questioned.
"Ah well, with the war and all it's difficult. I'm not sure it's the right time to have a child." The redhead admitted.
"War? Is the conflict that bad at the moment?" Petunia worried.
"Hey, sorry if I disturb the conversation." Regulus sat down next to the two women.
"Not at all, why are you joining us so suddenly?" Lily asked.
"They're talking about sports, something called football?" Reg chuckled.
"Vernon can't stop shutting up about it. He'd never play it though, just yell at the players on the TV." Petunia laughed.
"I'm so sorry if the way I act is inappropriate. I grew up in a pureblood house with pureblood parents. I never learned how to correctly interact with muggles, it seemed unimportant." Regulus apologized.
"Oh it's erm quite alright dear." Petunia laughed awkwardly.
"Reggie, don't worry so much." Lily assured him.
"I've ehm read somethings about muggles and how to correctly interact." He glanced at Lily, "I've brought you erm a bouquet of Petunias, fitting to your name and a box of chocolates. The books said that that's appropriate."
"Oh, thank you." She thanked him.
"So why did you leave the others?" Lily changed the topic.
"Sports as I already said." Reg admitted.
"Yes, but what confuses me. At school you used to play on the Slytherin Quidditch team, so why are you not interested in sports?" She inquired.
"Well, I only used to play on the team to please my mother. She saw Sirius was good at it so naturally I had to be better at it. It's really not Sirius' fault but she always made me do things he did, but she made me be better. Which doesn't always succeed I want to say." Regulus sighed.
"I understand." Lily noded.
"Regulus, was it? What do you mean you grew up with pureblood parents?" Petunia asked.
"Ah, erm. How familiar are you with the world pure- and halfblood?" Reg inquired.
"Nothing, I know nothing." She admitted.
"Oh alright..." He thought of how to start that conversation.
"Well, my parents were purebloods. Which means that we're fully witches and wizards as far as our family tree goes, which is very long. Halfblooded basically means you're half of that but it's mainly used to describe anyone who isn't muggle-born or pureblooded." He started explaining.
"I see, so Lily would be considered muggle-born?" Petunia assumed.
"Yes, pureblood families pride themselves in their blood status and try to keep it up as best as they can. My cousin Andromeda for example got disowned and burned out of the family tree for marrying a muggle born wizard." Reg continued.
"Oh, that seems a bit cruel." She admitted.
"It is. There are spells which are- nevermind..." He stopped himself.
"No please I want to know." The brunette was now intrigued.
"It's quite cruel." Regulus sighed, "There are spells, three to be exact, which are punishable with being locked away forever for just using them."
"Oh?"
"There the one that takes possession of a person and basically makes them do whatever you want. There's the killing curse, which is self-explanatory. And there is one last that's always terrible for pureblood children to learn about. The torture curse, it makes you experience the worst pain you'll ever physically feel, it's often used by pureblood parents like mine to discipline their children." He finished explaining.
"Oh dear." Petunia had put a hand over her mouth.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have-" Reg tried to apologize.
"I asked, you're not at fault." Petunia assured him.
"I'm sorry anyway." He apologized.
"Oh dear, it's late already. Shall we go to dinner now?" Lily acknowledged.
"Oh, you're right. It's already time. Let's go then."
At the restaurant they say down and ordered.
"So James, what are you doing for work." Petunia asked.
"Well, work's a bit of an issue at the moment." James admitted.
"Out of luck?" Vernon assumed.
"It's war and we're all pretty busy working for the order. There's no money for doing that though." Mary agreed.
"Yes. It's physically and psychologically demanding work." Reg added.
"I see." The brunette understood.
"Did you actually know that I heard Alice and Frank are trying for a kid." Mary revealed.
"No I didn't. Merlin's beard." Lily whispered.
"At a time like this?" James interjected.
"It's their thing not mine." Lily defended.
"Agreed." Regulus added.
After dinner just when the dessert was about to come out the table began to get somewhat fidgety, maybe nervous.
"What is up with you guys?" Lily questioned the three other people all grinning at each other.
"Nothing" Regulus lied.
"It's all fine." Mary agreed, this was actually the truth.
When the desserts were brought out, the ones for Regulus, Lily, James and Mary had rings in them.
"No! You didn't." Lily squealed, confusing her sister.
"Lily will you marry us?" Mary asked.
Tears were gathering in Lily's eyes, she was overwhelmed.
"Lily, are you alright?" Petunia made sure.
"I'm fine thanks. Yes of course I'll marry you, you idiots." She assured.
"Delightful." Regulus smiled.
"I thought we couldn't find anyone marrying us the way we needed it?" She questioned.
"We found someone who would fist marry you and James and after that me and James and you and Mary." Regulus explained.
"Oh wow." Lily was speechless.
"And you can decide up until the date, which could be really soon if you want, if you want to take anyone's last name or keep your own etcetera." James added.
"How soon?"
"The date we'd asked them to hold onto for us would be in 1,5 weeks. We thought since we can't have a big ceremony anyway we could get it over with legally and just make the one year anniversary very fancy and special, assuming the war is over by then." Mary suggested, "We just wanted to ask you if you'd be alright with it being so soon."
"Yes, yes. We need it to be legal as soon as possible." Lily accepted.
"Oh wonderful!" James laughed.
"I'm so happy for you Lily!" Petunia congratulated, "Vernon, would you say something please."
"Yeah, congrats!" He added.
"Sorry, he isn't much of a talker when the topic isn't work or football." Petunia chuckled.
"Don't worry, it's fine."
