Slip inside the eye of your mind
Regulus fall asleep sitting on the couch. He looked very cute, even cuddly. James thought. He was just sitting there and looking at him like he was a piece of art. The kind of art that deserves to be watched and observed for days and weeks straight. He wanted to at least bury his hand into his hair or squeeze his hand but he did not want to wake him up.
He got these little flinches, it seemed little unpleasant but he seemed okay and mainly he was asleep. When Regulus was on the veritaserum he told him that he cannot sleep without his sleep potions.
And now he slept. It looked like a single move of James's could wake him . So James didn't even dare to move, not a single inch.
James wondered what the flinches meant. It kinda looked like he was having some kind of nightmare but he was calm another few minutes after these.
After few more flinches Regulus's head jumped out of the pillow and he started breathing very heavily. James stood up and he was next to him in a second.
"Hey Reg- breathe - slowly - just breathe with me okay" James started breathing loudly himself but Regulus seemed not to get better.
" Open your shirt okay? It's better if you have a free neck it helps with the stress and anxiety" James said and Regulus was clearly in panic so James started to take off Regulus's shirt.
When he hit first three buttons he saw that there was another piece of clothing on Regs chest.
It was his binder. James didn't even think that big about it he just immediately lift his wand and ripped the binder off of Regulus's chest.
Suddenly Regulus could breathe so much better. It looked really tight. Regulus buttoned up his shirt again as quick as he has gone to normal.
"You okay?" James asked him and Regulus just watched his ripped binder on the ground next to him.
"It's fine Reg I can fix it with a spell again" James said when he saw regulus's worried face.
Regulus swallowed hardly and he shook his head.
"You can't tell anyone James" Regulus looked at him with a desperate look.
"Oh I'm James now am I ?" James smiled softly but it made Regulus even more worried.
"Of course I won't Reg" James said gently and he could see the relief on Regulus's face.
"Okay- I - thanks - It's just you know I don't want anyone to find out like ever. You're the only one who knows and Sirius so-" Regulus clarified and James looked at him curiously .
"Why ?" James asked.
"I- what ?"
"Why do you don't want people to know ? I mean it is not a bad thing. It does not make you less guy, it makes you who you are "
"I don't want people to see me as something I'm not" Regulus said with his head down.
"I see you as the same person you were ten minutes ago" James whispered.
"Yeah well you're - you " Regulus didn't know how to describe it properly but it made James smile.
"I just- there will always be people who will make fun of me or just don't accept me and I'm sick of it you know. I'm trans and everyone at home knows and Sirius know and now you know, and being here at school It's just whole new place and I can just be Regulus and no one gives a shit"
"You should probably get better binder, you almost died" James joked and Regulus laughed. It wasn't really funny but somehow they found it funny or they just needed to laugh it off.
"Yeah well I don't sleep with it through the nightmares " Regulus said it so casually and after a while he realised that he is venting too much to James today.
"Oh god I'm sorry - It slipped out. No more my problems okay? I'll just go to- to my room" Regulus stood up and he took his ripped binder from the ground.
"Thanks for saving me a little by the way" Regulus smiled nervously and James made some spell that fixed the binder.
"You're welcome, I'll save you anytime" James smirked at him and Regulus giggled.
"That was terrible" Regulus smiled.
"Was it ?"
"Awfully yes " Regulus said and left the room.
