Two Week Notice
Earth 4312243-221.8/Earth-CRN4312243
November 15th, 1999
Peter Parker was busy going over the morning paper when his wife of two weeks came in with their adopted son, Harrison, who was being carried by the Venom symbiote. If anything, it looked like the baby was in a black shiny blanket that was wrapped over MJ’s right shoulder and went under her left arm. The baby was making noises as babbling softly as MJ cooed and softly whispered back to the child, her smile making Peter want to kiss the red-head right there.
“Morning Tiger,” MJ said, smiling over at him as he noticed that she was only wearing a robe that was a deep sea blue, “did you sleep well last night?”
Peter nodded, “I did, surprisingly so. I would have thought Harry would have made more of a fuss.”
The red-headed heroine smirked as she patted the black symbiote goo that held their first child against her chest, “Seems that Venom was kind enough to handle that for us, he’s been babysitting Harry while we got our rest.”
Peter got the mental image of a pile of black alien goo changing the baby’s diaper, getting the bottle and reading Harry a story. That image was rather amusing, so much so that he snorted. MJ grinned as the black symbiote rippled, but remained silent. MJ made her way to the apartment stove and started making breakfast for herself as she hummed a song, Peter looking over the paper to see himself and MJ had made the front page again.
“SPIDER-MAN AND SHE-VENOM STOP LOCAL CRIMINALS FROM ROBBING A LOCAL BAKERY,” Peter read aloud, smirking as he continued, “Local authorizes at the crime scene were thankful that both Spider-Man and She-Venom were able to stop the local gangsters that had started robbing local small time businesses for the past week. Given that most of the thefts were of the monetary kind, the criminals were taken in and sentenced for several months in jail while investigations into why these robberies occurred have begun. Seems like Eddie is doing his best to keep us in the good light of the public.”
Eddie Brock, one of Peter’s friends in school along with MJ, was the head reporter and photographer for all things Spider-Man and She-Venom. Even though the married super couple took the photos themselves, Eddie took them to the Daily Bugle and was able to get a rather good spot even though the head of the company had a personal vendetta against Spider-Man and She-Venom. Through Eddie’s work, Spider-Man and She-Venom were seen as heroes throughout New York. Most of the bad things were reported as well but were given rather good explanations, as being a hero wasn’t always glamorous.
Eddie had done this so the public, as he told both MJ and Peter, “need to understand that you’re both only human with powers that can only go so far. You’re both not gods or some overpowered figure in comics that could do anything.”
Peter’s spider senses went off, highly tuned so he could keep an eye on everything due to his training with MJ. Turns out, his spider-sense wasn't just an early warning system but also allowed Peter to see around a location in great detail. This was how Venom was able to hide MJ from him for months until he started training his senses, Venom simply hid itself by making itself appear as a none-threat to the spider-sense. She-Venom has been rather amused during their first team up years ago, given that she couldn’t be sensed and used as a battering ram against him.
Getting up from the table, Peter walked over to the apartment doot. Upon opening it, he smiled as Eddie stood there in his leather jacket and button down blue shirt.
“Eddie!” Peter greeted him, pulling the man into a hug, “good to see you, how's it going?”
“I’m doing well, Peter,” Eddie returned the hug before being allowed inside the apartment, “and you?”
“Well,” Peter grinned at one of his good friends, “married for two weeks and having an adopted baby is rather interesting.”
Peter led Eddie into the dining room/kitchen as MJ smiled over at the journalist, putting down a plate of food for herself at the table. It was eggs mostly with a slice of sausage, along with a bar of chocolate due to Venom needing phenethylamine to survive. Eddie didn’t question it as he knew about the secret lives that the couple lived in, having been sworn to secrecy because of it. Of course, Eddie smiled over at MJ before spotting the young child being carried by the symbiote.
“I can see the newest Parker family member over here,” He grinned before holding out his arms, “If you want me, I can hold him as you eat Mary.”
MJ nodded but Venom reacted by putting Eddie’s arms into a baby carrying position before gently putting the baby into his arms. Eddie looked at the Symbiote before he shrugged, as it had vanished into MJ’s body without another word. Eddie sat down next to MJ so she could take the baby if he got fussy but a few moments later, Eddie was looking at the pair with one of his looks.
“You both know that this is Harry Potter, right?” He asked, making both of the spider themed heroes look at him in confusion.
“How would you know that?” MJ asked, doing her best to not seem as alarmed or overly nervous.
Eddie rolled his eyes, “Well, my great-grandfather’s brother’s family is close to me, my niece being a magical that lives in a hidden world of other magic users. Doctor Strange probably knows about them given he is the Sorcerer Supreme but little Harry here is a world wide hero to them.”
Peter blinked before groaning, hands in finding his face as he said, “So, are we gonna be hunted like Kraven?”
Eddie smirked, “I would sure hope not, Peter, I’d rather not have Spider-Man be turning into a brain dead body over something like baby-snatching.”
MJ’s eyes flashed as she hissed, “We didn’t snatch him, we adopted him as well as kept him from a potentially magic-hating home. Besides, Eddie, he’s not going back if I have anything to say about it.”
Eddie raised an eyebrow as MJ’s teeth turned sharp and pointed before he remarked, “Your teeth are rather sharp there, Crimson.”
MJ paused before flushing red from indignation, one from her old high school nickname and secondly from her teeth turning. Muttering apologies, Eddie waved her off as he was mostly used to the pair. He had been with them all throughout High school after all, if he wasn’t used to it, then what kind of friend would he be?
Peter spoke up at this point, “So, what do we do? I’d rather not have magic wielders messing with my head or MJ’s if I can help it.”
Eddie shrugged, “You could always go to Strange, even though he’s only been Sorcerer Supreme for like what, a decade only?”
Mary Jane shrugged, “he did say his mentor was older by centuries, though, in the magical world, the only one that I would think would fit that description would be Nicholas Flamel.”
Eddie snorted, “I’m pretty sure Stranges’ mentor was not some old French Wizard, even my niece knows of Flamel, given he’s that famous.”
Peter sighed, “So, time to visit the Sanctum Sanctorum.”
Eddie nodded, “Probably for the best, if I was you. Peter. Given you are friends with the man that is keeping magical threats from assaulting Earth, I’m not surprised.”
A few hours later, the pair of Spider-themed superheroes made their way to the Sanctum Sanctorum in New York. The day was rather chilly, having both bundled up against the cold as Peter had his arm around MJ while she held the young baby wizard in her arms. As they turned the street corner, Peter pointed out the Sanctorum to MJ who seemed to finally see it. He had found it the first time when he had been first starting out as Spider-Man, which had led to a team-up with Strange as Dormommu had tried to get into this world through the machinations of Otto Octavious. That had been a very confusing day, so he didn’t try to remember it much as he knocked on the Sanctorum’s front door before opening it.
“Hey Wong,” He greeted the man that was coming down the stairs to greet them, “is Steven around? We might need some help of the magical kind.”
Wong looked at the baby before looking back at Peter, “Parker Luck?”
Peter nodded, “No kidding.”
Wong nodded before motioning them to follow him back up the stairs, “Strange is in his main meditation chambers, I’ll lead you to him.”
Up the stairs, down a hallway and through the thirtieth door on the left, they found Strange as he was lowering himself from whatever magic he had been doing. The Sorcerer Supreme stopped as MJ entered the room behind both Peter and Wong.
“You’ve got to be joking,” Steven said bluntly before walking up to MJ and holding out his hands, “Mary Jane, I need you to please hand the baby over to me.”
“W-What?” Looking startled, she looked from the babe to Strange, “What’s wrong?”
“That baby has the soul fragment of one of the foulest Dark Wizards that was ever born on this Earth in his head,” Steven said, pointing to the scar on the young Harry’s forehead, “I am going to remove it before using it to find more of the foul things.”
MJ shakingly put the young child into Stranges’ arms, as he held the child before stepping backwards into a carved out runic circle. It started to glow as he held the child against him, the scar shining as he spoke some unknown language that hurt to listen too. With several flashes of golden light, a black sludge was pulled out of the scar on the baby's forehead. It writhed and bubbled, trying in vain to escape the grasp of the magic that held it. However, it was put into a jar that had multiple magical seals wrapped around it. Strange grimaced before he swayed, like he was exhausted before straightening.
“Seems the psychopath warded his horcruxes from removal by convenient means,” He said dryly, “Clever bastard indeed.”
MJ rushed up to the pair and took the child back into her arms, the baby starting to make a fuss as whatever spell had kept him from crying broke. Peter walked up, carefully not to look at the jar that held the soul of the person that had attacked his adopted son.
“So, Peter,” Strange said, motioning to MJ and Harry, “care to explain why you have the child of James and Lily Potter within the halls of the Sanctorum?”
Peter sighed before explaining what had occurred on the night of Halloween, how MJ made the decision to take the boy from that porch and now they had legally adopted him through the non-magical sources. Given that the child was an orphan with relatives that had stated they wanted nothing to do with him, the paperwork had been rather simple. Strange took this all in with a silent nod before he motioned to Wong.
“I think we might need the Goblins included, Wong,” He said, as Wong nodded, “might want to get them here.”
Peter blinked, “Goblins?”
Strange smirked, “Goblins run the wizarding bank in Britain, and your child is actually the heir to a rather prodigious Family inheritance.”
Mary Jane huffed, “Wealthy or not, Harry isn’t gonna be raised like some Lord of a town or kingdom.”
Strange raised his hands in a placating manner as, like Peter learned, you don’t aggravate She-Venom.
“I’m not saying that, Mary,” He said, “no, I’m saying that to legalize the adoption for the magical world and still allow for his heritance to go through, you might need to use some magic yourself.”
“Like what? Potions or rituals?”
Strange nodded, “Mostly those work, but mostly a potion that would make you his blood parents but also keep the Potter blood within him as well. Its something that was used during the first World War, a rather nasty time that my Mentor hated. Anyway, legally, you would be his parents and you’d be medically related to him.”
Peter and MJ looked at one another before Peter asked, “Is there something holding back from us? A cost?”
Strange shook his head, “Not really, just that you’ll have angry British wizards and witches trying to kidnap your son. Nothing I’m sure you both can’t deal with.”
Peter rolled his eyes at that, sighing dramatically, “Yes, just what we wanted. An angry mob of magic users trying to take our son for their nefarious purposes. Thanks Strange.”
