Sirius Bloody Black and a Reminder to Love Yourself
12 February,1986
“My darling Moony”. Oh no Remus thinks, Sirius only got like this when he wanted something. “Yes my shining star”. Sirius grinned and got down on one knee , “would you do me the great pleasure of accompanying me to dinner, I don’t know how to say this, but I think I’m in love with you”
Only Sirius Black could be this dramatic on Valentine’s Day, though James is probably a close second. He filled the entire common room with Lily’s in their fifth year to ask out Lily once. “Hmm, I’ll consider the offer, but I want something in return”. Sirius gasped, “what could be better than my company?”. Remus smirked and whispered into Sirius’s ear. Next thing Sirius is crashing down on him, pressing their bodies close together, kissing Remus all over.
“Ah gross get a room” Maggie yelled while throwing a pillow at them. She tried her best to look annoyed but Remus saw the smile in the corner of her mouth. Remus pushed Sirius off and bit his lip. Maggie was writing in the notebook that he got her for Christmas. She seemed to spend every second scribbling away in it, or setting up her picture collection.
“Mags I can’t help it, I just love your father too much” Sirius blushed. Maggie rolled her eyes, “love him in your bedroom or else I’m going to need therapy.” Remus laughed, Maggie really felt like she could be the direct daughter of him and Sirius. “Now I’m going to go wash my eyes out”, Maggie said as she practically ran away from the living room. The fireplace was crackling and Remus drank in the heat. “I never got an answer about Dinner” Sirius said once their daughter was gone. “What about Maggie? I’m not leaving her alone”.
“Bah Peter said he’d watch her, he’s watching Harry too.” Remus raised his eyebrow, “this wouldn’t be some elaborate plan between you and James would it?”.
“What Me, never Moony” Remus shook his head but Sirius continued, “cmon Moony it’s Valentine’s Day, it’s the one day a year when I get to marvel over how beautiful you are, gush how much I love you” Sirius buried his head into Remus’s shoulder. How could Remus resist, Sirius Black was on his knees for him. “Alright” Remus said, Sirius kissed him, “your getting soft Lupin, I got a yes three minutes earlier than last year”. Remus punched him.

Sirius and James outdid themselves this year, and this time Remus doubted if they could actually top in. Their valentines dinner was at his favorite restaurant (which also happened to be one of Lily's favorite), but the place was completely empty, spare for a table in the center. Turns out Sirius and James bought out the entire restaurant for the night. There were lily’s everywhere and stars hanging down from the ceiling. And one large full moon hanging right next to the table. “It’s time you get to see the full moon and think of happy things” Sirius told him as they walked in.
It was all perfect, just the most perfect date that he could ever go on. Lily was equally as wowed by the gesture and threw her arms around James. Remus wrapped his arm around Sirius and whispered “Byddwn yn symud y nefoedd a'r ddaear i chi fy seren”. Sirius purred, “you know I love it when you speak welsh”.
Three courses and a lot of wine later, Sirius was laying against Remus’s shoulder while Lily and James had their tongues down each other's throats. Remus stroked Sirius’s hair, Sirius whispering to him in French until they couldn’t hold it back and were copying Lily and James.
“Bunch of lovesick fools”, James said, finally coming up for air. “Fool is right”, Evans told him. Sirius blushed and pulled away from Remus, but they stayed staring in each other's eyes. Those electric blue eyes.
“Look at the time, Peter will be expecting us soon”, Lily said, now gathering her coat. She was wearing an emerald green satin dress and looked completely breathtaking. Remus definitely saw why James is so enamored with her. Remus probably would be too, though, if it was into girls, or anyone that wasn’t Sirius bloody Black.
“Yeah Mags will be wondering too” Sirius said, getting up from the table. Remus sat up too, just a little slower, and took Sirius’s arm. Lily and James apperated away and Remus took one last look at their dinner retreat before grabbing Sirius’s hand and vanishing.

10th March, 1986
“Did you get the card”, Sirius asked. He was running his hands through his hair, Maggie noticed it was a nervous tick he got.
“Right here dad”, she told him. It was Remus’s birthday and Sirius had been running around crazy to make it perfect. Maggie wanted it to be perfect too, it’s the first time she had a parent to celebrate.
“Thank Godric, it’s all he ever wants”, Sirius said, taking the card from her hand. “Oh it’s perfect Mags, he’ll’ love it” he said and gave her a kiss on the head. She smiled and went to work on putting up streamers. Remus was at the bookstore even though Sirius insisted he took the day off. Maggie spent most of her afternoons helping out there, she liked how cozy it felt. Also she had nowhere else to go and didn’t want to spend all her time at the Potters.
“Okay perfect, perfect”, Sirius muttered. He pulled his hair into a bun that was held together with his wand and sat down on the couch. Maggie went and laid in his lap. Sirius seemed to thrive on physical touch, it relaxed him. He squeezed her hand, “everyone will be here soon” he said. “Mh hmm” she replied. “You think I’m being dramatic?” he asks. “Da says you're always dramatic”. Sirius scoffed, “loves making fun of me that man, you two are too similar”. Maggie gave him a hug, “yeah but we still need you”.
The fireplace burst to life and Maggie ran to greet the intruder. “Aunt Mary!”,
“hey Maggie!”.
Maggie gave her a hug, Mary found out about her problem on new years and they have been close ever since.
“Oi Macdonald we were having a moment” Sirius huffed. Mary laughed him off, “you poor child” she told Maggie. She laughed and Mary gave her a high five. “I love your ring”, Mary said. Maggie beamed, Marleen and Mary gave her a lot of their own jewelry after Maggie told them how much she liked theirs, all gold obviously. But this ring was special, Remus and Sirius bought it for her after the last moon. It was gold with a star and moon engraved into it. Sirius had a matching one that he wore 24/7. Remus kept his in his pocket at all time.
“She is my daughter, of course she would have immaculate taste” Sirius said, “and I thought that I told you to bring a card”. “Right here” Mary responded, pulling a little card out of her purse, Maggie grabbed it out of her hand and left to put it in the book.
It was Remus’s birthday gift. Sirius asked everyone to make cards and he tasked Maggie with putting them together in a little book.
When Maggie walked back into the living room Marleen, Dorcas, Peter, and the Potters all arrived. Maggie gave them all hugs and wandered over to the snack table. As Remus puts it, blame the wolf. Sirius always joked how the two of them could eat an entire feast by themselves, and they probably could if it was the morning after a full moon.
The detection spell that Sirius cast went off and everyone hid. Maggie ducked under the table with Harry and the adults all crouched behind the couch waiting, all for Remus Lupin to walk in the door.

When Remus walked in his front door he was assaulted with a “SUPRISE!” by everyone he loves. Sirius was practically jumping up and down with excitement, he was wearing his black leather jacket and moon earrings, his hair was pulled into a bun with his wand securing it in place. Merlin and Goodrich almighty, he looked so delicious it should be considered a crime. It took a lot of willpower to not drag him into their bedroom and cast a strong silencing spell.
“Happy Birthday my moon” Sirius whispered in his ear as he kissed him hello. Remus’s whole body vibrated at his deep whisper. Truly, he was demonstrating a lot of self control. But someone pushed Sirius away and Remus was met with a hug from Maggie: “Happy Birthday Dad” she told him. Dad, Remus is sure he will never get tired of hearing that word. Remus was addicted to it, just like he was addicted to hearing Sirius call him his husband. It just melted his insides in a way nothing else could.
Next came Harry who gave him the biggest hug, the Lily and James, the Peter, Marleen, Dorcas and Mary. Everyone wished him a happy birthday and the party got started. Sirius was in charge of music and kept shuffling between all the records expertly. The food was delicious, as was the chocolate.
But the best part was the present. After a delicious dinner that Sirius ‘made’, Maggie gave him a bag and told him it was from everyone. Inside was a a bunch of handmade cards sewn together into a single book.

Once everyone left and Maggie was tucked in, Remus and Sirius retreated into their bedroom. When Remus returned from the loo Sirius was laying on the bed with that Sirius Black grin on his face. He was wearing his leather jacket.

“I do believe that we need to continue this celebration”, he said.
Remus cast a silencing spell and joined Sirius. The two laid together, tongues wrapped around each other. They hastily removed all clothing until it was only them on top of some sheets.
“Happy Birthday Love” Sirius said. It was the last thing they said all night.
