Chapter 6

They walk up to the door, hand in hand, Harry confused and Lee near panicking. It’s one thing to risk himself, but now he has to risk Harry? He’ll try first to see if there are any defences.

“Step back a bit, ok?”

Harry gives him an annoyed look, but does as asked, trusting him. Lee steps forward, shoulders tense and reaches for the door. His fingers brush the wood and he freezes and waits… nothing. Next he reaches for the handle, deciding to just treat it like ripping off a bandaid, he grabs it and twists. Nothing. It’s locked and it doesn’t hurt him. He sighs in relief.

“Can you try?” he asks, turning back to Harry.

“Why?”

“This house belongs to a magic family, your grandmother and godfather were part of it, so I’m hoping the door will open for you.”

“Padfoot?”

“That’s the one!”

Lee had been telling Harry about his parents and the marauders since he was little, what little he knew at least.

“You…” Harry starts, but trails off, biting his lip with his brows furrowed.

“I what?” Lee tries, and when Harry stays silent he continues, “you know you can ask me anything, right?”

Harry takes a deep breath and nods.

“You… How do you know so much?”

“What do you mean?” Lee asks, dreading the answer.

“You knew where the magic alley was, about my parents, about this place, How could you know all of this?”

Lee sighs.

“I… I was born with… extra knowledge. One possible future. That’s how I know.”

“Is that why you went somewhere other than Diagon alley?” he asks.

Lee nods.

“There’s a bad man and… another not very nice man was going to try to make you defeat him. I’m doing it now so you don’t have to do it then. I need to collect some things to do that, one of them was where I went last time and one of them,” he turns back to the door, “is here.”

Harry thinks it over for a minute, eyebrows scrunching up adorably, before he nods.

“Ok,” he declares.

“Ok?”

“Yeah! I trust you! But you have to let me help if you need it.”

“That’s what I’m doing,” Lee replies, gesturing to the door.

Harry brightens, hurrying forward, eager to help, and grabs the handle. The door opens with a creak and Lee follows as Harry slowly steps inside.

“Don’t touch anything, ok? There’s some really dangerous stuff in here.”

A familiar house elf appears, before Harry can reply.

“Nasty children be intruding on the Mistresses home, nasty children must leave!”

Harry startles a little, and Lee, really hoping this will work, whispers to him, “tell him to give you the locket Regulus gave him.”

Harry blinks in confusion, but complies, straightening and squaring his shoulders.

“Gi- give me the locket Ra- Regulus gave you!” he orders.

Its Kreatures turn to startle, his eyes widening, before he bows stiffly, mouth twisting into a sneer as he pops away. He returns a second later with the locket in hand.

“Nasty children be stealing master Regulus’s things, nasty, nasty children,” he holds the locket out as he speaks, scowling.

“Thank you,” Harry quickly says, taking the locket, but Kreature just pops away with a sneer.

Lee quickly snatches the locket from Harry and drops in the bag. Three down, three to go.

“It’s dangerous,” he explains at Harrys questioning look. “Lets go get some books from the library then get out of here.” Harry brightens at that. “I need to check anything you want for curses, so no touching before asking me, ok?”

“Ok!”

An hour later they’re on the knight bus home, a bag of books between them.

Kitsunes are cool, ok? He’ll send this next time he’s in Diagon alley. Speaking of.

“You want to go to Diagon alley tomorrow?” Lee asks, turning to Harry, who looks up from his book with a grin.

“Yes!”

They take the knight bus again and Lee makes sure Harrys hair covers his scar before they make their way into the alley.

“We need to go to gringotts first, I need to talk to Ullor and we need to check out your account.”

Harry looks around in awe as they walk through the bank to Ullor.

“Mr Dursley,” he greets.

“Thank you for seeing us,” Lee replies with a dip of his head.

“Sit. What can I do for you today?” he asks, as Lee drags a still awed Harry to sit in one of the two chairs before Ullors desk.

“My cousin would like to see if he has any accounts here.”

Harry perks up at that, straightening with a nod to the goblin.

“Two galleons for the test.”

“Of course, you can take it from my account.”

Ullor nods and reaches into a drawer to pull out a piece of parchment and a small dagger.

“Four drops of blood,” he says, laying the page and dagger on the desk before Harry.

He gulps but picks up the blade with a determined look and knicks his finger, letting four drops of blood land on the page before sticking the finger in his mouth. They watch as the blood sinks into the page, before slowly growing darker as it spreads.

“It will take a few minutes,” Ullor says, before turning to Lee. “Will you be needing one?”

Well… probably not, but what the hell? Why not?
