Chapter 2

Ok. So. Harry Potter is real apparently and so is reincarnating into fictional stories . Lee (as he’s taken to calling himself) keeps his inner turmoil from his face as he plays with Harry in his room, letting him use all the toys he never liked. He hasn’t left Harrys side since he found him in that cupboard a week ago, not trusting his ‘parents’ with him. Instead he’s stuck by his side, letting tears well in his eyes as he asked his ‘parents’ why they were being ‘mean’ to Harry whenever they tried something, knowing they wouldn’t want to ‘upset their precious Dudders’ but would take the first chance they got to throw the younger child into a cupboard for something he couldn’t control.

It makes him sick.

If they tried anything they did in the movies Lee would call the police himself… except… Well, he’s read a lot of fanfiction before, and he can’t get some popular storylines out of his head. With the books and movies it’s easy to pass it off as ‘it had to happen to keep the plot moving’ but now it’s real? Teachers from Harrys future primary school should have called the police, there was no way they wouldn’t notice how he was treated! Why was Harry never taken away from them? Unless someone interfered?

Then there’s later on. Snape should have been fired for how he treated the other kids let alone Harry, Binns should not have been a teacher, there should have been laws against how the government, reporters and even just random people treated Harry, especially since he’s a minor . And then there’s Dumbledore. He hid an item he knew a mad man was after in a school filled with children, made the tasks you had to pass to get to said item easy enough for eleven year olds to pass, those tasks being behind a door an alohomora could open and tempting students by instead of blocking off the third floor or warding it, he told the whole school they couldn’t go there. Of course someone would go there! And that was just in Harrys first year!

Lee snaps out of his thoughts and smiles at Harry as he waves a stuffed black dog above his head proudly announcing, “Foo’! Foo’!”

Foo?

“Pa’foo!”

Oh. Sirius.

He feels his eyes burn a little as he nods at the boy, carefully pronouncing, “Pa d foo t.

He will continue to tell him so he never forgets.

A year passes (Him having to regift most of his birthday presents to Harry when his ‘parents’ don’t get him any, but his favourite was always Padfoot) and his ‘parents’ seem to settle for ignoring Harrys presence completely other then giving him a plate of food at meal time so Lee won’t get upset, so he takes everything else on himself. Teaching him to use the toilet, playing games with him, making sure he doesn’t become touch starved with plenty of cuddles and hair ruffles, keeping him clean, reading to him, teaching him colours and numbers and how to speak.

Sometimes he feels like he’s Harrys parent, then he remembers he’s only a little over a month older than him and he decides he’s more like a big brother.

He’s still pissed at his ‘parents’ only keeping on friendly terms with them so they won’t try to take Harry from him. On the bright side they actually, legally, changed his name to Lee when he pretended to find out what dud meant and got extremely sad that they thought he was one. Worked like a charm.

Things continue in a similar strain before inevitably, something goes wrong. His ‘mother’ was making biscuits in the kitchen while his ‘father’ was reading a newspaper at the table when Harry got extremely excited at superman saving someone on the tv and started to float. Lee tried to grab him before his ‘parents’ could see but it was no use. His ‘mother’ gasped which had his ‘father’ looking up and… oh no.

He jumps to his feet, face purple and Lee feels like he’s going to cry. Then, the fear and tears are immediately gone, replaced by rage as the man raises his hand to hit the boy. Before Vernon can even begin his swing down on a wide eyed Harry, Lee feels something swell up within him and the man is sent flying back to the table he was just sitting at. Lee freezes in shock. Did he just… He’s snapped out of it as Pertunia rushes to her husbands side.

Oh no.

They hate magic. How will he protect Harry if they know he has it too? Which is something else to freak out about later. For now… He looks between the adults, still fussing by the table and Harry, who is back on the floor but starting to look worried, eyes getting wet, and decides he needs to try to fix this.

First, ideas.

Plan A: Magic it all away. But he only has accidental magic available. Unlikely to work.

Plan B: Gaslight. ‘How could a small, weak baby like Harry throw a big strong man and floating? I didn’t see anything?’ They’re both idiots, so it could work? But they’re also pretty blind in their hatred for Harry, so maybe not.

Plan C: Cry. Hopefully their love for Lee trumps their hate for Harry and they leave it alone, since floating is pretty harmless magic… they might?

And plan D: Grab Harry and run. Food and shelter isn’t worth it if they’re going to hurt Harry in return.

Starting with plan A. He concentrates on them, trying to reach that feeling he felt the first time and thinks, ‘ forget, you saw nothing, Harry and I didn’t do anything, forget.’ His thoughts get more frantic as Pertunia helps Vernon stand, Vernon turning furious eyes on Harry and he feels that feeling in him spike, he sees as Pertunia and Vernons eyes glaze over a moment. He then watches, with blurry eyes as a wave of dizziness hits him, as they both go back to what they were doing before, like nothing happened.

He sags to the floor with relief.

“Lee?” Harry mumbles, pushing into his side with furrowed brows.

“It’s okay Harry,” Lee whispers back. “I won’t ever let anyone hurt you.”
