ineffable husbands ~ lies
"Crowley? Was that... why would you lie to me?"
Aziraphale's eyes are wide with hurt. Crowley grins helplessly,
"Sorry, angel. I'm a demon, that's kinda what we do. You shouldn't have expected otherwise."
Sucking in a breath, Aziraphale looks down at the grass beneath him,
"I thought... I thought we were beginning to become friends."
Crowley looks away, burying his emotions away. He can't let the angel realize how much he wishes for it to be true.
"I really am sorry. We still can be? We just both have head offices we need to report to. That comes before any friendships. And I didn't- I didn't tell them you were here too. I just didn't want to tell you they were coming."
Aziraphale leans on a pillar, looking out over the lake they're standing beside. It's beautiful, a perfect mirror against the stars above them. But the picture is ruined by the fact.
"But why would you do it?"
