At first, all Dean can see is darkness. Pure, undulating darkness. Like a liquid seeping into his bones, slowing him down. All he can think is that he's looking for something. He's searching, and he needs to find what hes lookkng for.
Then the need steeps, and he instinctively knows from the bottom of his heart. If he doesn't find it now, it'll be too late.
His heartbeat quickens, as if urging him on. He starts running, swimming through the inky blackness. And the name appears,
"Cas?! Cas!!"
Jolting upright, Dean looks frantically around. The darkness, the urgency, and-
"Dean?" His voice is deep, rough with sleep, "Dean. You're okay. I'm here. It was just a nightmare."
Letting out a breath he hadn't realized he was holding, Dean relaxes, eyes darting over the form of his angel.
Cas takes one of his hands, bringing it up to his chest,
"What can you feel?"
For a second, they breathe together, but Dean can feel the unmistakable thumping of Cas' heart, slightly slower than a normal humans.
"I- you. I feel you."
