"Coming Out"
Regulus paced back and forth, panicking and going over what he was going to say.
How he was going to tell James that he wasn't cis.
How he was finally going to come out and say he was a trans man- er, boy, sixteen is still technically a child for some reason.
Regulus was growing more nervous by the second, seconds from losing his shit because this was so damn stressful.
Then the door opened, and James, his sun, walked in.
"Hey, Reggie, what's up- are you alright??" James asked quickly, concerned about the look of pure dread and panic on Regulus's face.
"I um yeah, I'm fine, hey James.. I um I need to tell you something."
"OH MY GOD YOUR BREAKING UP WITH ME-"
"What-"
"Regulus why?? I can change, I can change everything about me! oh why Regulus why??" James sobbed, not listening to Regulus, and just dying inside.
"James! Snap out of it! I'm not breaking up with you!" Regulus yelled at James over his sobbing.
James instantly perked up.
"Y-you aren't?"
"No you dumbass, do you really think I'd leave my sun behind?"
James hesitates before shaking his head in a "no".
"Okay. The reason I want to talk to you, is um.."
Regulus takes a minute, taking a deep breath before just going out and saying it.
"I am transgender. I'm not AMAB, like you."
James stares at Regulus for a moment, before grinning and chuckling a bit.
"OH MY GOD YOU SCARED THE SHIT OUT OF ME- don't scare me like that again! Don't get me wrong, I support you one hundred percent! You made me think I was going to lose you, Reggie. God fuck don't scare me like that again."
It was Regulus's turn to stare at James.
"You.. you support me? You aren't leaving me? Because I'm not cis?"
"Of course not! I'm not an idiot!"
'Debatable,' Regulus thought to himself.
"Oh. So.. so I made a big deal out of this for nothing..?" Regulus asks nervously.
Oh how he prayed he just overreacted and that James still loved him.
"Of course, love, I will always love you. And I would never leave you over something like you not being cis. I love you, Reggie. Always have, always will."
James wraps his arms around Regulus, and Regulus, after a moment, embraces him back.
"I love you too, James.." Regulus mumbled into James's shoulder.
James kissed the top of Regulus's head before breaking the hug.
"Is that everything you needed to tell me, love?"
"Yeah.. thanks for.. you know, being supportive and stuff."
"Of course, Reggie, how could I not love you. Come on, let's go get some dinner."
Regulus nodded and followed James out.
Regulus couldn't help but love this man more and more and more every time they were together.
And now, there was nothing more Regulus needed to hide from his sun.
