One More Chapter
Severus walked down the hall to the partially closed door, pushing it open and peering into the library. It was mostly dark except for the single lamp at the far end of the sofa, providing the light Harry needed to read as he laid across the sofa on his stomach, the book laying in front of him on the cushion. He smiled and leaned against the doorframe as he watched his son turn the page.
“Harry, you missed dinner,” he said and watched the teen’s head pop up to glance at him over a shoulder quickly only to go back to his book.
“Just one more chapter,” Harry said.
Severus raised an eyebrow and approached the boy. “You said that three hours ago.”
Harry looked up at him again as he stood at the back of the sofa, leaning against it to gaze down at the child.
“Just one more?” Harry said pleadingly. “I just got to a good part.”
Before Severus could respond, Harry’s stomach rumbled and he looked at the boy pointedly. Harry flushed and flipped through a few pages.
“I’ve got four pages left,” Harry said. “I’ll come eat then.”
Severus heaved a dramatic sigh. “Very well.”
Harry grinned and immediately returned to reading. Severus just shook his head indulgently and ran a hand over the boy’s soft hair.
