Lily Evans Potter is happily married to James Potter, and together they have a son named Harry. Her life was going perfect, other than the fact that there was a massive war going on and her son was targeted by Voldemort to kill.
But with Harry and James with her, she was happy.

It was a Wednesday evening, and Lily and James Potter and Remus Lupin were setting up for a dinner they were hosting for some of the Order of The Phoenix members. Little Harry was flying around on a little toy broomstick, barely flying a few inches off the hardwood floors.

There was a pop and the fireplace suddenly went green and James and Lily dropped the chairs and pulled out their wands, pointing them at the fireplace, where a soot-covered Sirius tumbled out, coughing. “Y’know, we need to figure out a way to travel with floo-powder and NOT get soot all over.” He grumbled, slapping the soot off of his black leather jacket.
Remus smiled and walked over to him, brushing some soot out of his long curly hair and kissed him. “Well, hello to you too” Sirius laughed, surprised by the affection. “What, I can't kiss my fiance when I feel like it?” Remus chuckled and walked over to help Lily pick up the chair she dropped moments before.

“Ugh, you guys need to hurry up and get married.” Lily sighed, letting Remus pick up the chair. Remus laughed at her and set up the chairs at the table.

“We will, when the time is- er- right.”

“Er- how many people are supposed to be here tonight anyways, do we really need this many chairs?” Sirius asked, helping James with the chairs.

“Well,” Lily sighed, “ We’ve been losing people quite a bit, and a lot simply don't want to risk it.” Lily put her face in her hands and sighed. “I wish stupid freaking Voldemort would just die already!” She banged her fists on the table, which caused a cup to tip over and spill water everywhere. “Oh no! I’m sorry I’ll get the rag!” And Lily ran into the kitchen, grabbing the rag and walking to the table to wipe up the water. Which was gone.

“What, did you forget the spell or something? Lils, it's fine, everyone will be fine.” Remus explained, putting his wand away and helping Lily into a chair. “And since when do you say ‘stupid freaking Voldemort’?” Remus laughed, putting his arms around Lily.

“Oh, sorry I’ve been talking to Harry most of the time so i cant really say ‘fuck’ now can I?” Lily chuckled softly, watching the child chasing after the cat on his broom.

“Well, if its only going to be us we might as well start eating!” Sirius announced, clapping his hands together, “Come on Harry, your dogfather will help you get some food.” Sirius scooped up a giggling Harry and walked into the kitchen.

“Mary should be here, and maybe the Weasleys if Charlie has overcome his cold. And Wormy is, well honestly i don’t know where he is or what he’s been doing. probably something for the order.”
James walked over to his wife, and helped her up leading her into the kitchen, where a mashed potato covered Harry ran out of, followed by an amused Sirius, chasing him with a towel.

“Sorry- Harry- got - into - the - er - COME HERE HARRY - mashed - potatoes- “ Sirius struggled to pick Harry up and succeeded, walking up to his room to get him cleaned up.
Lily and James laughed, while a confused Remus came out of the kitchen, his plate loaded with food.

“What's so-” his question was cut off by the flames of the fire turning green, and a dirty Mary Macdonald rolled out of the fireplace, brushing the soot off of her and out of her light brown hair.

“Mary!” Lily exclaimed, “You came!” And she ran over to hug her friend, who barely mustered a smile and hugged her back “Hi” she sighed grimly and walked over to Remus and James and hugged them also.

“How's Benjy?” Lily asked.

“He's out on some stupid mission Mad-Eye assigned him on. Classified, even I don't know where he is. He was supposed to be home yesterday, but Mad-Eye said he wanted him to stay wherever he is for longer.” Mary whimpered.

“Oh Mary.” Lily whispered, hugging her friend as Sirius came stomping down the stairs, Harry in his arms struggling to escape.

“Mary!” Sirius gasped, “I didn't think you were coming!” Sirius let Harry on the ground and walked over to hug Mary, “What's the matter?” He asked, concerned, looking down at Mary, who had tears silently rolling down her freckled face.
“Mary, hey, what's the matter?” Sirius held her at arm's length and wiped away her tears.
Mary looked at her feet, wringing her hands, “Nothing, it's nothing. Listen I have to get going, Benjy might be getting home tonight.” Mary wiped her face, pulled away from Sirius, waved goodbye to Remus, James, and Lily and walked to the fireplace.

“I’ll see you guys later.” Mary whispered before grabbing a handful of floo powder from a vase above the fireplace and away she went.

“I’m worried about her.” Sighed Lily, turning away from the fireplace to snatch up a whining Harry into her arms. “Come on, Harry, let's go get some food.”

Everyone's plates were cleared, and Remus and Sirius had gone outside to smoke while James put Harry to bed. Lily sat by herself in the kitchen, looking at the moon. It was almost full so Remus would be gone the next few days, which means Sirius would have to stay home. This was the last day they would all be together for a while and Lily loved, but hated those weeks when it was only her little family alone in their house, waiting for bad news.

“Well, Lils,” Remus announced grimly, walking in the kitchen door from outside, “me and Sirius need to be going. Tomorrows the full moon so we need to get, er- prepared.”
James came down the stairs and heard the conversation,

“Hey, are you guys leaving so soon?” James asked sadly,

“Yea, sorry Prongs, but we need to get going.” Sirius replied quietly. Remus hugged Lily and James goodbye

“Well Moony, padfoot, we’ll see you both hopefully in the next few weeks.” James announced softly, as Sirius and Remus walked towards the fireplace. Lily grabbed the vase down for them and they left.

“Well, now what are we going to do?” Lily joked softly, as James put his arm around her and led her to bed.
