Chapter 1

Surge angrily dropped her bag down next to the beaten up bean bag in the club room, soon dropping herself onto the softer surface with an angry sigh, causing Kitsunami, who sat at the main table alongside Tails, D&D dice in paw, to look over his shoulder in concern.

“You okay Surge?” Tails shifted his gaze from the D&D board to the grumpy green tenrec, his ear twitching before he spoke. “You seem mad.”

“No shit dude.” Surge sat up, crossing her arms over his chest with a scoff. “…Well…? What’s wrong then?” Tails had placed his own phone down at this point, frustration starting to take hold of his expression, annoyed with the sudden distraction from their D&D round.

Kitsunami gave a small concerned huff once Surge gave an incomprehensible mumble, sinking into the bean bag with a sour expression. “You mind repeating that..orr…?”

“That stupid fuckin’ cheerleader’s my damned babysitter for a week!”

Tails sighed and turned back to his phone, snatching the twenty-sided die from Kitsunami’s paws. The fennec shrugged. “Oh. So Amy’s your partner for that science project?”

“Yes!”

Surge grumbled again, sinking back into the beanbag, her paws grappling at her forehead. “This sucks! Blows! Kicks fucking rocks!” “Amy’s not so bad. She’s nice.” Tails nodded along as he gave the die a good shake and rolled it over the D&D board.

“It’s is SO bad you idiot! Next thing I know she’ll be dragging me to the stupid library, hauling half the work onto me to go leave with her stupid boyfriend—“

Tails sat up, an ear cocking at her words. “Sonic’s not that bad Surge!” The two narrowed their eyes at each other for a moment before Surge flopped backwards. “Whateeeever you say.”

The club room stayed empty for a moment before Kitsunami piped up again. “You could always ask the teacher for a change of partners..” Surge glanced over to him, a hint of red coloring her fur.

“Unless you still have that really huge crush on—”

“Shut. Up.”
