We Can Try Again
Summary
Remus Lupin and Severus Snape were close their last few years of Hogwarts, dating for most of it. But, now its 2002 and the two of them haven't even been friends for nearly two-and-a-half decades. That is, at least, until Remus, on a whim, checks on Severus in his house, just to find the man, struggling physically and mentally. The two don't instantly become buddy-buddy, but with the war over and neither with anything to lose, things begin slowly returning to how they were during their teen years. Still, they'll never be the same people again. That doesn't have to be a bad thing.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Expect American terms like diapers, fahrenheit, pounds, feet, etc. Also, everything in canon(meaning the books, not the stuff before or after it) is the same except that Remus and Tonks didn't date let alone get married because that's fucking weird AF.One last thing: yes, I know tech and language wasn't exactly this advanced back then, but I needed it to be both 2002 and this advanced, so...*shrugs*Updated every Tuesday

*Severus’s POV*

Dr. Meyers was sat up when Severus arrived, so he just had to take his own seat on the floor.

“Did you complete your assignment?” She immediately asked.

~Yes.~

“What did you do?”

~I met someone new. One of Remus’s friends for the first time.~

“Ooh, how was it?”

~Bad.~

“What happened?”

~Nothing much.~

“Then what was bad?”

~They shouldn’t have been there.~

“Where?”

~In our living room.~

“Why not?”

~Because its my and Remus’s living room, not theirs.~

“You don’t like guests?”

~I guess I don’t.~

“Do you have any reason why?”

~Invasion of space.~

“But why do you see it as an invasion of space?”

Severus wrinkled his nose. ~Because it's my space and they’re coming into it, AKA invading it.~

“But, you invited them.”

~Remus did.~

“Without your permission?”

~No.~

“Then what’s the difference?”

Severus wasn’t sure, so he didn’t respond.

“Severus?”

~What?~

“You didn’t answer my question.”

~I don’t know the answer.~

“That’s fine. How was your week outside of meeting Remus’s friend?”

~Fine. Normal.~

“Is anything particularly memorable?”

~No.~

“Is anything ever particularly memorable?”

~No.~

“Alright, then, I’d like you to do the same assignment again this upcoming week.”

~What’s wrong with how I did it before?~

“Nothing, but you need to be able to remember things from your week, or else you're hardly living at all.”

~I don’t know what to do though. I don’t want to meet another one of Remus’s friends.~

“I’m sure you’ll figure something out.”

~Maybe.~ Unlikely.

“Is there anything on your mind at the moment?”

~No.~ His mind was always blank when he came to therapy, even when he had a whole list of things he wanted to talk about beforehand.

“Have you found any progress in coming here?”

~I guess.~

“What sort?”

Severus shrugged.

“You seem a bit out of it today, do you think that’s true?”

~I guess.~

“Do you want to do something other than talk?”

~Like what?~

“We can play a game. Go Fish?”

~Okay.~

Severus won every time.
