We Can Try Again
Summary
Remus Lupin and Severus Snape were close their last few years of Hogwarts, dating for most of it. But, now its 2002 and the two of them haven't even been friends for nearly two-and-a-half decades. That is, at least, until Remus, on a whim, checks on Severus in his house, just to find the man, struggling physically and mentally. The two don't instantly become buddy-buddy, but with the war over and neither with anything to lose, things begin slowly returning to how they were during their teen years. Still, they'll never be the same people again. That doesn't have to be a bad thing.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Expect American terms like diapers, fahrenheit, pounds, feet, etc. Also, everything in canon(meaning the books, not the stuff before or after it) is the same except that Remus and Tonks didn't date let alone get married because that's fucking weird AF.One last thing: yes, I know tech and language wasn't exactly this advanced back then, but I needed it to be both 2002 and this advanced, so...*shrugs*Updated every Tuesday

First Therapy Meeting After The Full Moon

Saturday, March 2nd, 2002

*Severus’s POV*

“You survived the Full Moon.” She’s not being sarcastic or cruel.

Yes.

“How was it?”

….~I survived.~

“You were never able to tell me why you get so upset about Full Moons, do you think you could now?”

Could he? He could at least try. ~Werewolves.~ Damnit, that sounded racist.

“Are you scared of werewolves?”

~No.~ Not exactly. ~I just had a bad experience with one as a teen; worse because we were very close. We still are. I don’t hate or fear him, it was just….~ He doesn’t know how to finish that thought.

“Traumatizing?”

….Yes.

“Did Remus help you get through it?”

How to answer both honestly and without outing Remus? ~As much as he could.~

“What did you do to try and get through it?”

~I went to bed early.~ What else? ~Me and Remus cuddled.~ For some reason he found his cheeks lighting up in…well, not shame, exactly.

“Do you two have a lot of physical affection with each other?”

~Some, sometimes.~

“Has anything else big happened in the past week besides the Full Moon?”

~Not really….I don’t think so.~

“Do you have anything going on in the next week?”

~Not as far as I know.~

“Perhaps you should find something to do before you see me next. It doesn't have to be anything big, just something you don’t usually do.”

~Like what?~

“When was the last time you went to a restaurant?”

~Two weeks ago.~

“And before that?~

~A few decades ago.~

“How about you try that, then?”

~I guess I can.~

“This is your third therapy appointment.”

~Yes.~

“How do you feel about that?”

~I guess….It’s getting easier, a little bit.~

“How come?”

~I know what to expect.~

“What do you expect?”

~Come in, sit on the floor, talk, go home.~

“And do you like that routine?”

~It’s how therapy works.~

“We can do other stuff than just talk sometimes, if you want.”

~Like what?~

“I play a lot of board and card games with other clients.”

~I like Go Fish.~

“We can play it right now, if you want.”

….~Okay.~

They ended up playing four times, and Dr. Meyers only one once.

“You’re really good at Go Fish.” She commented as Severus started standing to leave.

~It’s my favorite game.~

“I’ll keep that in note.”
