Aconitum napellus

Remus was up in his room finishing up lacing his lacrosse stick and testing it out with his hand, after he deemed it good enough he went to brush his teeth. He spat his tooth paste out into the sink, then froze looking at himself in the mirror as he heard a loud creak outside his house.

Remus had turned around looking out his bedroom window then went to go investigate, grabbing his baseball bat on the way out of his room. When he had reached his front door he took a breath then opened it, walking out onto the porch bat up and ready to swing if needed.

He stopped at one point on his porch and looked out at his yard when suddenly James fell into view, James his best friend was hanging over his roof. Remus screamed then readied his bat for a swing also causing James to start screaming, flailing his arms around.

"James, what the hell are you doing?!" Remus had yelled at him lowering his bat.

"You weren't answering your phone. Why do you have a bat?" James asked then pointing at the bat in Remus' hand.

"I thought you were a predator or serial killer." Remus said.

"A pred- I- what? Look, I know it's late, but you gotta hear this. I saw my dad leave 20 minutes ago. Dispatch called. They're bringing in every officer from the beacon department, and even state police." James said dropping his hands down and just hanging there upside down.

"For what?"

"Two joggers found a body in the woods." James said getting down from the roof and landing on his feet, like a cat.

"A dead body?" Remus asked looking down at James.

"No, a body of water. Yes, dumbass, a dead body." James said sarcastically then climbed on the porch.

"You mean like murdered? Is there actually a serial killer out there?" Remus asked looking at James with a shocked expression.

"Nobody knows yet. Just that it was a girl, probably in her 20s." James said shrugging.

"Hold on, if they found the body then what are they looking for?"

"Thats the best part." James said smiling and getting excited. "They only found half."

James said smiling at Remus who's shock just grew, James nodded then spoke again.

"We're going."

They had pulled up to the familiar Beacon Hills reserve sign in James' red jeep, they got out and James turned on his flashlight and turned to Remus.

"We're seriously doing this? The sign literally says no trespassing." Remus said point at the sign then looking at James.

"You're the one always bitching that nothing ever happens in this town." James said patting Remus' shoulder before stepping over the chain holding up the flashlight.

"I was trying to get a good night's sleep before practice tomorrow." Remus said following James into the woods.

"Right, cause sitting on the bench is such an amazing experience." James said sarcastically.

"No, because I'm playing this year. In fact, I'm making first line." Remus said rolling his eyes.

"Hey, that's the spirit. Everyone should have a dream, even a pathetically unrealistic one." James said causing Remus to scoff.

"Just out of curiosity, which half of the body are we looking for, James?" Remus asked causing James to stop in place for a second.

"Huh! I didn't even think about that." James said laughing and continuing.

"Right. Of course not. And, uh, what if whoever killed her is still out here?" Remus asked.

"Also something I didn't think about." James said tilting his head to the side, they both gave small laughs then climbed a small hill.

"It's comforting to know you've planned this out with your usual attention to detail." Remus said sarcastically.

"I know." James said groaning as he got up the rest of the way, Remus huffed and stopped, putting a hand on a tree to help himself lean up against it, pulling out his inhaler from his pocket.

"Maybe the severe asthmatic should be the one holding the flashlight, huh?" Remus said with a wheeze and shook his inhaler before going to catch up with James.

Suddenly James threw himself on the ground to hide from police flashlights, Remus followed shortly after him. James smiled then suddenly got up to run.

"Come on!"

"James!" Remus shouted then used his inhaler then quickly got up to try and follow him. "Wait up!"

They ran, well James ran and Remus tried to keep up but failed, stumbling over his own feet almost tripping.

"James!" Remus said running after James and occasionally looking at the police then behind him.

"James!" He tried again but he fell upon deaf ears.

James paused and looked back not seeing Remus behind him as he turned back towards the direction he was running in he was met with a police dog barking at him causing him to scream and fall flat on his ass.

"Hold it right there!" The policeman holding the dog shouted at him.

"Hang on, hang on." James' dad shouted walking over to them, Remus finally caught up then saw everything and decided to hide behind a tree.

"This little delinquent belongs to me." He spoke again causing James to stand up at wipe his face of water.

"Dad, how are you doing?" James asked trying to act nonchalant.

"So, do you, uh, listen in to all of my phone calls?" Fleamont asked looking down at his son annoyed.

"No, heh. Well not the boring ones." James admitted, Fleamont looked around and spoke again.

"Now, where's your usual partner in crime?"

"Who, Remus? Remus' home. He said he wanted to get a good night's sleep for first day back at school tomorrow. It's just me. In the woods. Alone." James said shaking his head out of breath.

"Remus, you out there? Remus?" Fleamont called out shining his flashlight out towards the trees, Remus froze and shrunk even smaller behind the tree.

"Well, young man I'm gonna walk you back to your car. And you and I are gonna have a chat about something called invasion of privacy." Fleamont said grabbing James by his hood and pulled him along with him, causing James to make a noise of protest.

Remus watched as they walked away, the turned cursing and knocking his head on the tree in frustration. Remus sighed and pushed off of the tree and started to walk back when he heard thunder rumble above him, it had been raining all night so he was soaked.

Remus walked and looked at his surroundings, pulling his hood back up cause it fell down when he was running. He kept walking listening to the crickets then the sound of birds flying away made him jump and look up, he then decided to keep walking.

He stopped a few seconds after and felt yet another asthma attack coming so he shook his inhaler and looked off into the distance, he thought he saw something so he looked closer. Suddenly a herd of deer came charging in his direction he jumped back with a shouted and landed on his back, accidentally throwing his inhaler in the process.

He shielded himself as they ran around him and jumping over him, at some point he opened his eyes and saw them hurdling him like it was nothing. After they were gone he sighed and sat up looking around, he grunted as he stood up and dusted himself off.

He pulled out his phone and turned on the flashlight trying to find his inhaler, shining it over the leafs that covered ground and rummaged through them. Moving the leaves with his feet and hands, he moved his flashlight again then he was startled away when he saw the dead body of the girl. Her lifeless eyes looking up at him.

He shouted and backed away only to fall down a steep hill, he slowly recovered then went to stand up. He looked around then decided to keep walking when he heard a growl, that said growl stopped him dead in his tracks. Like a deer caught in headlights.

Remus turned around slowly to look at where the growling was coming from but it was too dark to see all he saw was a black mass and two red eyes looking at him, then he was suddenly tackled to the ground. He screamed and closed his eyes then felt whatever was on him bite him right on his side, he screamed in pain then somehow got free.

Once he knew he was no longer being held down he bolted and ran as fast as he could tripping and falling as he ran, not once did he look back. He then found a road and just as he ran out of the woods a pair of headlights blinded him and he heard the car honk at him, before speeding around him.

He watched the car spead off he sighed and then looked down lifting his shirt to look at his side, he cringed at the sight of the bite then looked in the direction of the car. He stood in the rain for a few seconds then he heard a wolf howl in the woods.

The next morning he road his bike to school like nothing happened, he road his bike up to the bike rack and got off of it. He started to take off his helmet when he was hit from behind with a car door, he turned around and saw Severus Snape and his Porsche.

"Dude. Watch the paint job." Severus said to him, Remus just looked at him not knowing what to say but was thankfully saved by Severus' friends calling him towards them. Severus looked back at Remus and glared as he walked away.

Remus shook his head then walked towards James who was standing right by where the buses let off. Remus had received a text from James last night apologizing for having to leave him out there by himself then asking if he was okay and if he got home safe. Remus had answered his questions then told him about the bite and the deer.

"Okay, let's see this thing." James said causing Remus to laugh then set his backpack on the ground, he lifted his shirt with a grunt revealing the bandage he put on there after cleaning it.

"Ooh." James said going to reach for it only for Remus pull back.

"Yeah. Whoa! It was too dark to see much, but I'm pretty sure it was a wolf." Remus said grabbing his backpack from the ground and swung it over his shoulder.

"A wolf bit you?"

"Uh-huh." Remus said.

"No, not a chance." James said laughing.

"I heard a wolf howling." Remus said walking with James.

"No, you didnt."

"What do you mean, no I didn't? How do you know what I heard?" Remus asked causing James to laugh again.

"Because California doesn't have wolves, okay? Not in like 60 years." James said walking infront of Remus then stopping.

"Really?" Remus asked.

"Yes, really. There are no wolves in California." James said looking at Remus like he was stupid.

"All right, well, if you don't believe me about the wolf, then you're definitely not gonna believe me when I tell you. I found the body." Remus said with a small smile causing James' eyes to go wide and he bounced with excitement.

"You-- are you kidding me?" Jamss said reaching a hand out to hover over Remus' shoulder.

"No, man, I wish. I'm gonna have nightmares for a month." Remus said seriously causing James to laugh.

"Oh, god, that is freakin' awesome. I mean, this is seriously gonna be the best thing that's happened to this town since-" James said pausing to look at Lily Evans walking by.

"Since the birth of Lily Evans. Hey, Lily.. you look like.. like you're gonna ignore me." James said watching her walk into the school before turning to look at Remus again.

"You're the cause of this you know."

"Uh-huh." Remus said nodding.

"Dragging me down to your nerd depths. I'm a nerd by association. I've been scarlet nerded by you." James said causing Remus to laugh.

"As you all know, there indeed was a body found in the woods last night." Their teacher said as he wrote on the chalk board, Remus looked at James who was sitting in the desk next to him. James smiled at him then winked causing Remus to roll his eyes and smile, turning back to the board.

"And I'm sure your eager little minds are coming up with various scenarios as to what happened. But I am here to tell you that the police have a suspect in custody-" Remus turned back to James who just looked at the teacher as if he was lying then looked at Remus and shrugged shaking his head.

"-which means you can give your undivided attention to the syllabus which is on your desk outlining this semester." The teacher finished,

Remus cringed at the sudden sound of a cellphone ringing, he quickly looked around and saw no one else notice it. He looked around and rubbed his ear as the ringing continued, he then looked outside just as the phone was answered.

Remus saw two boys with dark hair sitting together on a bench, one with earbuds in and the other holding his phone to his ear with his shoulder as he rummaged through his backpack.

"Mother, three calls on our first day is a little overdoing it. Yeah everything except a pen. Oh my god, I didn't actually forget a pen." The one on the phone said then turned to the other.

"Reggie?" When the other didn't answer the one talking resorted to pulling out his earbud.

"What?" 'Reggie' asked.

"Do you have a pen? I don't have one." He said and the other just shook his head.

"Not one I'll borrow to you, you'll just keep it. And I happen to like my pens." 'Reggie' said causing the other to groan.

"You're as helpful as always, Regulus."

"Glad to help, Sirius." Regulus said then they both looked up seeing the principle walking towards them.

"Okay, okay. We've gotta go. Love you." Sirius said hanging up then standing to greet the principle, they both shook his hand and walked with him.

"Sorry to keep you waiting. So you were saying San Francisco isn't were you two grew up?" The principle asked.

"No, but we lived there for more than a year, which is unusual for our family." Remus heard Sirius say as they walked into the building.

"Well, hopefully Beacon Hills will be your last stop for a while."

Just as the principle stopped talking the door to his class room was opened, he walked in then moved so Sirius and Regulus could walk in past him. Sirius looked over the class with a smile and Regulus just looked uninterested.

"Class, these our new students. Sirius and Regulus Black. Please do your best to make them feel welcome." The principle said then left, Sirius and Regulus walked to take their seats which so happened to be right behind James and Remus.

Sirius sat behind Remus while Regulus sat behind James, as soon as Sirius sat down Remus grabbed one of his pens off his desk. Remus turned around and held it out to him, Sirius looked up then took the pen with a confused smile.

"Thanks." Sirius said then Remus nodded and turned back to the board, Sirius looked down at the pen in his hand and furrowed his brows in confusion. Sirius then turned to Regulus to see if he noticed but he wasn't even paying attention he already had his note book out and was doodling.

After class Remus went to his locker then saw Sirius and Regulus at their lockers down the hall. Just as Remus looked at him, Sirius looked at him and smiled, Sirius' attention was suddenly pulled away as Lily walked up to talk to him.

"That jacket is absolutely killer. Where'd you get it?" Lily asked with a smile.

"My mother was a buyer for a boutique back in San Francisco." Sirius said then went to look at Regulus only to realize he had walked away.

"And you are my new best friend." Lily said then was hugged from behind by Severus.

"Hey.." Lily said then kissed Severus, Remus' hearing was interrupted by Marlene coming up and talking to James.

"Can someone tell me how new boy Sirius is here all of five minutes and he's already hanging out Lily's clique?" She asked.

"Because he's hot. Beautiful people herd together." James said looking directly at Lily, Remus shook their conversation out of his head and focused on Sirius' instead.

"So, this weekend, there's a party." Lily said.

"Party?" Sirius asked.

"Yeah.. Friday night. You should come." Severus said leaning a hand on the lockers next to Sirius.

"Uh, I can't. It's family night this Friday. Thanks for asking." Sirius said tucking his long hair behind his ear.

"You sure? I mean, everyone's going after the scrimmage." Severus said.

"You mean like football?" Sirius asked, Remus had found himself completely focused on their conversation he didn't even notice Marlene and James arguing next to him.

"Football's a joke in Beacon. The sport here is lacrosse. We've won state championship for the past three years." Severus said letting out a laugh as Lily played with his hair, Sirius giving a quick nod.

"Because of a certain team captain." Lily said hugging him.

"Well, we have practice in a few minutes. That is, if you don't have anywhere else-" Severus said.

"Well, I was going to--" Sirius tried saying looking in Remus' direction for a second only to get cut off by Lily.

"Perfect.. you're coming." Lily said grabbing Sirius' wrist and pulling him along, Sirius glanced back at Remus as he was pulled away.

"But you're a bookworm, are you sure you really want to play?" James asked as they set their stuff down on the bench.

"I can't sit out again. My whole life is sitting on the sidelines. This season, I make first line." Remus said as they walked out onto the field, he turned back to see Lily and Sirius get onto the bleachers to sit down and watch. He and Sirius made eye contact and smiled at one another but Remus was snapped out of it by his coach.

"Lupin." Coach Finstock called him.

"Yeah?"

"You're in goal." Coach said tossing a goalie stick and helmet at him forcing him to catch them.

"I've never played." Remus said.

"I know-- scoring some shots will give the boys a confidence boost. It's a first day back thing." Coach said then hit his shoulder. "Get 'em energized, fired up!"

"What about me?" Remus asked looking confused.

"Try not to take any in the face." Coach said then lightly slapped his face then walked away blowing his whistle, Remus and James shared a look. James gave him a look that said I'm sorry.

Remus put the helmet on then grabbed the stick and walked out to the goal, standing infront of it.

"Who is that?" Remus heard Sirius say to Lily.

"Him? I'm not sure who he is. Why?" Lily asked causing Remus too look over at them.

"He's in my English class." Remus heard Sirius say then he nearly went deaf from a whistle being blown, he then didn't have enough time to react as a lacrosse ball came towards him hitting him right in his face guard. Knocking him right off his feet, everyone laughed except Sirius and James.

"Hey, way to catch it with your face, Lupin!" Severus yelled Remus groaned then got back up to get ready for the next ball, Remus made eye contact with James who chinged.

Remus got back into his stance, one of the players threw the ball and Remus had actually caught it stopping the goal. Remus smiled then looked at James who yelled with excitement, Remus discarded the ball and got ready again. The next came and he caught that one too, and the next and the next.

"He seems like he's pretty good." Sirius said watching Remus with a smile.

"Yeah, very good." Lily said in awe, Remus over heard them and it just made him smile more.

Then Remus focused up and looked at who was next, and he was shocked to see Regulus Black was there trying out for lacrosse, he didn't seem like the athletic type to Remus. But Remus was wrong when he saw how good of form Regulus had as he ran towards him with the ball, Regulus then threw the ball with painful force.

Remus caught it but it almost broke right thought the net, Remus looked at Regulus shock with how much strength he had despite being shorter than everyone out on the field. Remus heard James yell with excitement yet again as he caught another ball.

"Wasn't that your brother? I didn't take him for a lacrosse player." Lily said looking at Sirius.

"Yeah, he is actually really good at sports he was the star soccer player at our last school." Sirius said watching his brother spin his lacrosse stick in his right hand, as he walked back into line.

"Huh." Lily said then Remus was cut from the conversation when Severus cut the line and grabbed a ball with his stick looking pissed, they made eye contact as Severus got ready.

"Oh, god." Remus said to himself then watched as Severus then took off running towards him, everything felt and looked like it was in slow motion. So when Severus threw the ball Remus felt like he had all of the time in the world to catch it, and that's what he did. He caught it.

James jumped with joy as he caught the ball then he heard Lily jump up and scream for him too, Remus looked over at Sirius who was staring at him with a smile.

"That's my best friend!!" James screamed out jumping up and down, Remus looked at the ball in his lacrosse stick and smiled. Severus glared at Lily who was still standing after cheering for Remus.

Remus spun his goalie stick and tossed the ball over his back and the ball went right in the referee's lacrosse stick.

"I don't know what it was. It was like I had all the time in the world to catch the ball. And that's not the only weird thing. I can hear stuff I shouldn't be able to hear. Smell things." Remus said as he and James were back in the woods looking for his inhaler.

"Smell things? Like what?" James asked.

"Like the mint gum in your pocket." Remus said turning back to James as they walked.

"I don't have any gum in my-" James said then shut up as he pulled an old piece of gum out of his pocket, James looked back up to Remus who just threw his hands up in a shrug.

"So all this started with the bite?" James asked rolling up his sleeves.

"What if it's like an infection, like my body's flooding with adrenaline before I go into shock or something?" Remus said as he continued walking.

"You know what, I actually think I've heard of this-- it's a specific kind of infection." James said making Remus stop walking and snap his head back to look at him.

"Are you serious?" Remus asked eyes widening.

"Yeah. I think it's called lycanthropy." James said placing his hands on his hips.

"What's that? Is it bad?"

"Oh, yeah, it's the worst. But only once a month. " James said with a shrug.

"Once a month?" Remus asked staring at James confused.

"On the night of the full moon." James said then howled like a wolf, Remus groan and pushed James' chest causing James to laugh.

"Hey, you're the one who heard a wolf howling." James said putting his hands up defensively.

"Hey, there could be something seriously wrong with me." Remus said getting a little frustrated.

"I know! You're a werewolf! Rrr!" James said acting like a werewolf getting Remus to turn and glare at him.

"Okay, obviously I'm kidding. But if you see me in shop class trying to melt all the silver I can find, it's cause Friday' a full moon." James said with a laugh trying to lighten the mood, they stopped and Remus looked around.

"No, I-I could have sworn this was it. I saw the body, the deer came running. I dropped my inhaler." Remus said crouching down to look through the leafs.

"Maybe the killer moved the body." James said slapping his thigh in disappointment.

"If he did, I hope he left my inhaler those things are expensive." Remus said looking up at James then back at the ground, James laughed then looked around and then quickly hit Remus to stand up and look. They both stared as the man walked up to them looking pissed.

"What are you doing here? Huh? This is private property." He said stopping a few feet infront of them.

"Uh sorry, we didn't know." James said.

"Yeah, we were just looking for something, but.." Remus said but paused and the man raised his eyebrows as if telling him to continue. "Uh, forget it."

The man then tossed his inhaler to him which Remus caught in one hand before turning to walk away.

"Alright. Come on, I've got to get to work." Remus said going to walk back but was stopped as James spoke.

"Dude, that was Derek Hale. You remember, right? He's only like a few years older than us." James said.

"Remember what?" Remus asked confused.

"His family. They all burned to death in a fire, like, ten years ago." James said eyes wide.

"I wonder what he's doing back." Remus said getting a scoff and a shrug from James.

"Come on." James said starting to walk back.

Remus was at work just closing up for the night, as he flipped the closed sign he heard thunder rumbling in the distance.

He went into the bathroom and opened the hydrogen peroxide bottle, he lifted his shirt to remove his bandage to clean his wound again. But once he pulled the bandage off he saw flawless skin, almost like it never happened, he look up at himself in the mirror confused. He then decided to just go feed the cats so he dragged the cat food bag into the room.

"Hey, kitties." He said dragging the food in but the cat's started hissing and screeching at him, banging on their cages. He looked around at all of the cat's frightened so he quickly backed out of the room shutting the door, just as he closed the door he heard someone knocking on the door to the clinic.

He stood there for a second because they were closed but the knocking didn't stop, infact it got louder and faster. So he walked out of the back of the clinic to see who was there and he saw Sirius standing in the rain, he was the one banging on the glass door.

Sirius knocked again then ran his fingers through his hair and turned towards his car then back to Remus, Remus opened the door to the clinic .

"I didn't see it. I took my eyes off the road for, like, two seconds to change the song on my ipod, and then this dog, it just came out of nowhere!" Sirius explained really fast and Remus noticed he was crying as soon as he spoke, with all the rain he couldn't see the tears.

"It's all right, it's all right. Do you remember where it happened so I can send animal control to find it?" Remus said putting his hands up in a calming way to try and get Sirius to breathe.

"No! I mean, yes, I know where I hit it, but the dog is--" Sirius said.

"Where is it?" Remus asked.

"It's in my car." Sirius said pointing back to his car, they both ran out to his car in the rain and Sirius opened the back car door. The dog barked and growled as soon as it saw Sirius making Sirius jump back, Remus held onto Sirius to reassure him.

"You okay?" Remus asked gaining a nod from Sirius.

"She's just frightened." Remus said trying once again to calm Sirius, which seemed to be working.

"That makes two of us."

"Let me see if I have better luck." Remus said looking at the dog and inching closer, his eyes started to glow yellow and the dog calmed down and whimpered. After that they got the dog inside and onto the table.

"I think her leg is broken. I've seen the doctor do plenty of splints. I can do it myself and then give her a painkiller for now." Remus said looking back at Sirius as he was petting the dog, Sirius was shivering and soaked.

"Yeah, I have a shirt in my bag." Remus said.

"Oh, I don't want to trouble you." Sirius tried to protest but Remus just reached inside his bag and handed him the shirt.

"Here." Remus said and they shared a smile there was a few seconds of eye contact shared, Sirius then grabbed the shirt and walked back into the back room.

Remus went back to petting the dog then glanced toward the back room to see Sirius' bare back as he removed his wet shirt, Remus noticed Sirius' long hair looked longer and darker when wet. Then he tore his gaze away as the dog whimpered, Remus looked back to the dog to see she was staring at him.

"What? I didn't see anything." Remus said to the dog who just looked at him then laid down, Remus then started to fix up the splint. Just as he finished it Sirius walked back out dryer and no longer shivering.

"Thanks for doing this. I feel really stupid." Sirius said as he stood next to Remus who started petting the dog again.

"How come?" Remus asked looking at Sirius with a smile.

"I dont know. 'Cause I freaked out like a total girl" Sirius said looking down with a small laugh, which Remus also laughed.

"What do you mean?"

"I freaked out like a girly girl, I promise I'm not usually like this." Sirius said looking back at Remus who was admiring his face.

"Well, what are you usually like?" Remus asked looking at Sirius' eyes then looked down at his lips for a second.

"Tougher than that. At least I thought I was." Sirius said looking down with a embarrassed smile.

"Hey, I'd be freaked out too. In fact, I'd probably cry too. Not like a man either, like the biggest girly girl ever." Remus said making Sirius laugh looking at him, Sirius studying his face.

"It'd be pathetic." Remus said getting a small giggle from Sirius.

"Yeah, right" Sirius said and Remus smiled then looked back at the dog, he gave a small sigh.

"So.. it looks like she's gonna live." Remus said then looked at Sirius then continued. "And I'm pretty sure she'll even let you pet her now if you want."

Sirius looked over at Remus with a sad smile then looked back down at the dog.

"I dont think so."

"You don't want her to sue. I hear this breed is very litigious." Remus said with his smile which returned to his face, Sirius looked at Remus then reached over and started petting the dog. The more he was petting her the bigger his smile got, and Remus watched him with awe the whole time.

"You see? She likes you." Remus said gaining Sirius' attention, Sirius slowly looked up at Remus with a smile then spoke.

"What?"

"I dont know. Sorry. You have an eyelash on your cheek." Remus said making Sirius laugh.

"Oh, it's from the crying." Sirius said then wiped his cheek with the sleeve of the shirt he borrowed from Remus, Remus looked at him with a small smile.

"Here." Remus said then slowly reached up to rub the eyelash off of Sirius' cheek, Sirius looked over at Remus with a smile as he got the eyelash.

"Thanks." Sirius said looking right into Remus' eyes, Remus thought he could stare into those eyes his whole life and be happy with just that.

Remus walked Sirius back to his car and just before Sirius was about to get in Remus decided to just say it now so he doesn't chicken out later.

"So, um.. I was wondering.. I mean, is it really family might on Friday, or do you think maybe you'd like to go to that party with me?" Remus asked kind of regretting it now that Sirius was looking at him for a good few seconds before he spoke up.

"Family night was a total lie." Sirius said tucking his hair behind his ear.

"So is that a yes, you'll go?" Remus asked.

"Definitely yes." Sirius said with his smile pulling at his lips, then getting into his car to leave.

Once Remus went home he layed in his bed staring at the ceiling smiling, then he looked out his window at the head of his bed and looked at the moon. Remus then closed his eyes trying to sleep then he turned on his side to sleep better.

Then he was met with a face full of leaves he sat up and he was in the woods and it was morning, he got up and started to walk. He then looked around at his surroundings then he saw something off in the fog, it looked like the thing that attacked him. It started running so he started running trying to see if get a better look at it, he ran until he saw a fence and jumped it.

He fell into water he swam up to the top to breathe then he blinked away the water, he looked around at his surroundings then saw the roof of a house then a man watering his plants.

"Good morning." Remus said awkwardly then looked around at his surroundings more, confused.

Then at school he was putting his stuff away in his locker then just as he was about to close it, Severus appeared and slammed it shut making Remus jump, not expecting the loud noise.

"All right, man. How 'bout you tell me where you're getting your juice." Severus said.

"What?" Remus asked extremely confused.

"Where are you getting your juice?" Severus asked again slower as if he was talking to a toddler. Remus looked around then looked at Severus still confused.

"My mom does all the grocery shopping." Remus said getting Severus to look at him weird.

"Now, listen, Lupin. You're gonna tell me exactly what it is and who you're buying it from, because there's no way in hell you're out there kicking ass on the field like that without some sort of chemical boost" Severus said, making everything click in Remus' head.

"Oh, you mean steroids. Are you on steroids?" Remus asked looking at Severus weird, causing Severus to get pissed and grab him by the shirt slamming him into the lockers.

"What the hell is going on with you, Lupin?" Severus yelled.

"What's going on with me?" Remus asked making Severus nod.

"You really wanna know? Well, so would I! Because I can see, here, and smell things that I shouldn't be able to see, hear, and smell. I do things that should be impossible, I'm sleepwalking three miles into the middle of the woods, and I'm pretty much convinced that I'm out of my freaking mind!" Remus rambled then let out a big sigh of relief making Severus scoff.

"You think you're funny don't you, Lupin? I know you're hiding something. I'm gonna find out what it is. I don't care how long it takes." Severus said and slammed his fist into the locker behind Remus before walking away.

"Remus! Remus, wait up." James said running to him and stopping him from going onto the field.

"James, I'm playing first elimination, man-- can it wait?" Remus asked looking at James, James hovered his hands over Remus' shoulders as he spoke.

"Just hold on, okay? I overheard my dad on the phone. The fiber analysis came back from the lab in L.A. they found animal hairs on the body from the woods!" James said fast and looking at Remus nervously.

"James, I gotta go." Remus said grabbing his stuff and walking out towards the field, causing James to try and get him to stop and listen.

"Wait, no Remus! You're not going to believe what the animal was!" Remus had kept walking. "It was a wolf." James said also grabbing his gear and heading out to the field, as they walked out to the field Remus turned to look at James and his eyes widened.

"You're serious?" Remus asked but they were interrupted by Coach who blew his whistle.

"Let's go! Gather round! Bring it in, come on! Come on!" Coach said causing all of the players to gather around him, Remus looked towards the bleachers and saw Sirius walking up to sit. They exchanged a smile and Remus waved at him.

"Got a question, Lupin?" Coach asked causing Remus to snap his gaze away from Sirius.

"What?"

"You raised your hand. Do you have a question?" Coach asked causing Remus to blink.

"Oh.. no. I was just, uh.. nothing, sorry." Remus said causing Coach to look at him then continued.

"Okay. You know how this goes. If you don't make the cut, you're most likely sitting on the bench for the rest of the season. You make the cut.. you play. Your parents are proud. Your girlfriend loves ya! Huh?" Coach said grabbing onto one of the guys' helmets and shakes it.

"Everything else is, uh.. cream cheese." Coach finished and looked at Remus who looked at James, who just shrugged.

"Now, get out there and show me whatcha got! Come on!" Coach said causing Severus to yell, which caused all of the others to yell out too.

Remus and James looked over at Regulus who tilted his head to crack his neck, Regulus noticed them staring and walked right past them hitting his shoulder on James'. James scoffed then watched as Regulus ran off to play.

"I dont know, but something about that guy pisses me off." James said.

"Who, Regulus? Sirius' brother?" Remus asked as they both got ready to play.

"Yes, who else? He acts like he doesn't have time for anyone, just keeps to himself then on the field he is over confident. You know I tried talking to him yesterday, he just glared at me and walked away. Dude's got problems." James said causing Remus to laugh.

Remus was suddenly passed the ball, he ran to go score but was then hit hard by Severus knocking him to the ground. Regulus had ran up to them as they were glaring at each other, he took the ball then went and scored. Remus couldn't help but growl as he got up, pissed now.

Then the whistle blew, and then both Severus and Remus got into position again, they were waiting for the whistle to blow so one of them could take the ball and score. The whistle blew and Remus grabbed the ball before Severus could even react, Remus ran toward the goal. Remus side stepped- evading one player then going to towards the next, spining completely around him.

Then he jumped out of the way evading yet another player, and another, then Remus came face to face with the three others who were guarding the goalie. He then did a front flip over them and went for the goal, scoring.

Everyone erupted with cheers, Remus turned back and saw James staring at him with his jaw dropped, Remus then spotted Regulus who just turned around and twirled his stick in his hand like before. Then Remus' eyes landed on Severus who looked pissed off, watching as Remus moved too fast for him to react. Remus smiled then all of the other players surrounded him to congratulate him, but it was short lived as Coach's voice echoed on the field.

"Lupin! Get over here!" Coach yelled and Remus took off his helmet and walked over to him.

"What in God's name was that? This is a lacrosse field. What are you trying out for the gymnastics team?" Coach shouted.

"No, Coach."

"What the hell was that?" Coach asked him causing Remus to stutter.

"I-I dont know. I was just trying to make the shot." Remus replied.

"Yeah, well, you made the shot. And guess what?" Coach smiled then hit Remus' shoulder. "You're startin', buddy. You made first line. Come on!"

Remus eyes widened then smiled at Sirius who stood up and clapped for him, Remus then turned toward the team as cheers erupted. James looked at Remus then took off his helmet to rub his jaw.

James was doing all kinds of research, research on werewolves. Werewolves in movies, TV shows, mythology, folklore- everything he should find. He didnt sleep last night it was now the next day and he had texted Remus to come over after school. James was too busy reading cause he was suddenly pulled from his research when a loud knock was heard on the other side of his bed room door.

James got up and sighed then opened his bedroom door, sighing again as he saw Remus standing there.

"Get in. You gotta see this thing." James said closing his door after Remus walked in.

"I've been up all night reading-- websites, books. All this information.." James said grabbing a couple things from his desk.

"How much Adderall have you had today?" Remus asked looking down at James as he sat in his desk chair.

"A lot. Doesn't matter. Okay, just listen." James said causing Remus to laugh.

"Oh, is this about the body? Did they find out who did it?" Remus asked.

"No, they're still questioning people, even Derek Hale." James said pointing papers at Remus.

"Oh, the guy in the woods that we saw the other day."

"Yeah, yes. But that's not it." James said feeling like they were getting side tracked.

"What, then?" Remus asked confused.

"Remember the joke from the other day? Not a joke anymore." Remus just looked at James confused. "The wolf-- the bite in the woods. I started doing all this reading."

James stood up suddenly as he continued to speak.

"Do you even know why a wolf howls?"

"Should I?" Remus asked.

"It's a signal, okay? When a wolf's alone, it howls to signal its location to the rest of the pack. So if you heard a wolf howling, that mean others could have been nearby. Maybe even a whole pack of 'em." James said rambling a bit.

"A whole pack of wolves?" Remus asked eyes widening.

"No.. werewolves." James said then looked down at Remus worried.

"Are you seriously wasting my time with this? You know I'm picking up Sirius in an hour." Remus said getting frustrated and stood up grabbing his backpack.

"I was watching you on the field today, Remus. Okay, what you did wasn't just amazing, all right it was impossible." James said stopping Remus.

"Yeah, so I made a good shot."

"No. You made an incredible shot, I mean.. the way you moved, your speed, your reflexes. People can't just suddenly do that overnight." James said grabbing Remus' backpack and putting it back down in the bed.

"And there's the vision and the senses, and don't even think I don't notice you don't need your inhaler anymore." James said panicking a little.

"Okay! Dude, I can't think about this right now. We'll talk tomorrow." Remus said looking away and shaking his head.

"What? Tomorrow, no, the full moon's tonight. Don't you get it." James said raising his voice a little.

"What are you trying to do? I just made first line. I got a date with a guy who I can't believe wants to go out with me, and everything in my life is somehow perfect. Why are you trying to ruin it?" Remus asked also raising his voice, James huffed then turned around and grabbed the book he left open.

"I'm trying to help. You're cursed, Remus. You know, and it's not just the moon will cause you to physically change. It also just so happens to be when your bloodlust will be at its peak." James said.

"Bloodlust?" Remus asked glaring at James.

"Yeah, your urge to kill." James said looking between Remus and the floor.

"I'm already starting to feel an urge to kill, James." Remus said.

"You gotta hear this." James grabbed another book then started reading it.

"The change can be caused by anger or anything that raises your pulse. All right? I haven't seen anyone raise your pulse like Sirius does. You gotta cancel this date. I'm gonna call him right now." James said trying to find Remus' phone in his backpack.

"What are you doing?" "I'm canceling this date." James said but Remus got mad.

"No, give it to me!" Remus yelled grabbing James by the shirt and slammed him into the wall, readying his fist to punch him. Remus saw James get ready for the punch then he pushed James' desk chair, knocking it to the ground.

"I'm sorry. I-I gotta go get ready for that party." Remus said letting go of James and going to grab his backpack.

"Im sorry." Remus said then left, James sighed and threw his head back onto the wall. James pushed off of the wall and went to grab his chair then saw three claw marks in the back of his chair.

Remus got out of the shower and fixed his hair, once he deemed it good he turned around to walk out of his bathroom and into his room. He jumped as he went through his door and saw his mom standing there up against the wall, he grabbed his towel to keep it in place.

"Mom!" Remus shouted and she laughed.

"Is this a party or a date?" She asked causing Remus to blush.

"Maybe both." He said smiling, Hope Lupin smiled and nodded.

"And his name is.." she said.

"Sirius."

"Sirius. Nice." She repeated his name then handed Remus her car keys, Remus' eyes widened and his smile got bigger.

"Thank you."

"We don't need to have a talk do we?" She asked causing Remus to sigh and look at her.

"Mom, I'm not having the safe sex talk with you." He said causing her to scoff.

"Oh, my god. No, I meant about keeping the tank full. Give me those back." She said and snatched the keys back.

"Are you serious?" Remus asked.

"You bet your ass I am serious. Come on!" She said looking at him like he was crazy.

Despite the whole conversation with his mom, Remus still got to take the car. He pulled up to Sirius' house and waited for him in his driveway, he watched the front door waiting for him patiently.

Sirius had opened the door and smiled at Remus tucking his hair behind his ear, Remus stared at Sirius in awe as Sirius walked towards the car and got in. Remus greeted him and put the car in drive and started driving to the party.

Sirius and Remus walked into the backyard of the house and they were met with a bunch of dancing teenagers, grinding on each other to the music. Remus looked around the party then spotted Derek Hale standing by the gate just staring him down, Remus paused and watched him. The dog behind the gate was barking at Derek and he turned around, looking at it and it shut up.

Derek looked back at Remus staring again, Remus felt uncomfortable but was pulled back by Sirius.

"You okay?"

"What? Yeah. I'm fine." Remus said then smiled down at Sirius then looked back in Derek's direction to see him gone now, then Remus looked up at the roof of the garage and saw a blur that was Derek.

Remus looked back down as Sirius held out his hand, Remus smiled and took his hand and they walked through the crowd. They reached the spot that they wanted and Sirius placed Remus' hands on his hips, then put his own arms onto Remus' shoulders.

They both smiled as they swayed to the music, which started to pick up the pace so Remus brought his hand to Sirius' hair and tucked it behind his ear. Remus smiled then looked behind Sirius and saw Regulus grabbing another solo cup then spilling it, Remus watched him and saw that he was swaying on his feet.

"Is that your brother?" Remus asked Sirius who looked up at him then followed his gaze, Sirius' smile faded once he saw Regulus.

"Yes that's him.. come on." Sirius said and pulled Remus with him, as they were walking Remus started to feel sick. His head was pounding and he felt dizzy but he pushed it down.

"Regulus, are you drunk?" Sirius said reaching for Regulus who stumbled as he turned to look at them.

"Who are you my mother?" Regulus snapped back and took another drink of his solo cup that he already spilt, he cursed and threw it to the ground when he realized it was empty.

"I'm not mother. But I am your brother and you need to slow down." Sirius said grabbing Regulus shoulder.

"Oh. Hey Sirius." Regulus said laughing.

"Okay, you need to go home. Remus can you take-" Sirius asked then turned to Remus then realized Remus looked in pain.

"Remus, are you okay?" Sirius asked.

"I'll be right back." Remus said and started walking through the house, he ran into James who asked him if he was okay but he doesn't know if it was really James or if he was hallucinating so he kept walking.

Remus made it to the front of the house and outside, he didn't know what was happening. It wasn't an asthma attack, it didn't feel like one.

Remus just decided he needed to get home right now so he rushed to his car almost stumbling on his way there, he didn't realize that Sirius was trying to follow behind him with Regulus.

"Remus!" Sirius shouted but Remus got in his car and drove off towards home, Sirius sighed and held Regulus up who was about to pass out.

"Sirius." Someone said behind him causing him to turn and look at the man.

"I'm a friend of Remus." Derek said to Sirius who looked off at the road then back at him, Derek stepped closer and spoke again.

"My name's Derek. I can give you two a ride home."

Sirius sighed and looked at his brother then agreed.

Remus opened his bedroom door stumbling into his room then quickly closed and locked it, he turned to his bed and looked out the window at the full moon.

He hurried into his bathroom and turned on a cold shower, then sat in the ice cold water trying to get rid of the heat his body was producing. As he was sitting there in the water he suddenly was hit with another pounding head ache, he grabbed his head and groaned.

Remus looked down at his hand then saw his finger nails grow long and sharp, he panicked and quickly got up. He stood infront of his bathroom mirror and wiped the fog off of it and opened his mouth, he then saw his canines were longer and sharper as well. Then his eyes turned a crimson yellow, Remus started to panic more then there was a knock on his bedroom door that took his attention away from his transformation.

"Go away." He said.

"Remus, it's me." James said from the other side, Remus unlocked his door and opened it a crack.

"Let me in, Remus. I can help." James said.

"No! Listen, you gotta find Sirius." Remus said panting.

"he's fine, all right? I saw him get a ride from the party. He and his brother are totally fine."

"No, I think I know who it is." Remus said groaning again.

"Who- just let me in. We can try--"

"It's Derek. Derek Hale is the werewolf. He's the one that bit me. He's the one that killed the girl in the woods." Remus said causing James to go silent.

"Remus.. Derek's the one who drove Sirius and his brother from the party." James said and Remus then slammed the door shut.

"Remus!" James yelled and hit the door.

Remus climbed onto his bed then through his window and jumped down into his yard, Remus landed on his knee and looked up growling. He felt his ears grow pointed and hair growing out of his cheeks, he then roared up into the air.

James had pulled up to the Black's residence and his brakes squeeled as his jeep came to a stop, James hurried out of his jeep and to their front door. Ringing the door bell a couple times.

"Come on, Come on, Come on." He said as he then pounded on the door.

The door was opened and he was met with a pissed off woman with dark hair like Sirius and Regulus'.

"Hi, Mrs. Black? Um.. you have no idea who I am. I'm a friend of your son, Sirius. Uh.. look, this is gonna sound kind of crazy, um.. really crazy, actually. You know what, crazy doesn't even-" James rambled and Mrs Black just blinked at him then turned towards the steps.

"Sirius!" She yelled.

Sirius walked out and stood at their upstairs railing, and put his hand onto the railing. James sighed and Sirius walked down the stairs to greet James, Mrs. Black stopped Sirius by his arm and growled something into his ear causing him to nod.

"Yes, mother. Hey, James." Sirius said.

"Hey Sirius.."

"What do you want James? I'd love to chat but I have to take care of my brother. He, uh, got pretty drunk and I don't want to hear about it from my parents anymore than I have to." Sirius said holding onto the door.

"Um.. Remus just wanted me to make sure you got home safe." James said causing Sirius to raise his eye brow.

"Really? Did he now, cause he just randomly left me at the party with my drunk brother. He better have a good reason." Sirius said crossing his arms over his chest.

"Remus, he has asthma. Um, sometimes he has really bad attacks and he uh.. hasn't needed his inhaler for a couple days so he forgot it at home." James said honestly pround of himself for coming up with that on the spot.

Remus ran through he woods chasing Sirius's scent and he stopped when he found Sirius' jacket hanging on a tree branch, he heard a twig break and he looked around.

"Where is he?" Remus growled.

"He's safe. From you." Derek said, Remus looked around again trying to find Derek but as he turned around he came face to face with him. Derek tackled him and they stumbled to the ground, Derek picked him up and pinned him to a tree.

"What did you do with him?"

"Shh, quiet. Too late. They're already here. Run." Derek said then let go of him and took off running.

Remus looked around then got up and ran after him, just as he stood up he was blinded as something hit the tree in front of him. Remus tried to blink away the white that clouded his vision then an arrow flew and pinned his arm to the tree.

Remus screamed in pain and looked to where the arrow came from, he then saw three men walking towards him. Two with guns and the one in the middle with a crossbow, the man with the crossbow walked closer to him and then Remus saw the man's face.

"Take him." The man said to the men behind him, then Remus saw Derek take out both of the men behind the man infront of him. The man turned and held out his gun, then Derek was right next to him.

Derek yanked the arrow out of his arm and the tree, causing Remus to groan. Derek ran and then this time made sure Remus was following him. They both ran for a while then finally when Derek stopped running then so did Remus, Remus planted himself down against a tree and held his arm.

"Who were they?" Remus asked panting and his yellow eyes faded.

"Hunters. The kind that have been hunting us for centuries." Derek said.

"Us? You mean you! You did this to me!" Remus yelled.

"Is it really so bad, Remus? That you can see better.. hear more clearly, move faster than any human could ever hope? You've been given something that most people would kill for. The bite is a gift." Derek said.

"I dont want it." Remus growled.

"You will. And you're gonna need me if you want to learn how to control it. So you and me, Remus.. we're brothers now." Derek said leaning down towards Remus and putting a hand on the tree behind him, then walking away. Leaving Remus panting against the tree.

Remus was walking down the road then James pulled up in his red jeep, Remus got into his jeep and James looked over at Remus then started driving.

"You know what actually worries me the most?" Remus said.

"If you say Sirius I'm going to punch you in the head." James said.

"He probably hates me now." Remus said causing James to groan, then speak up.

"I doubt that. I told him that you have asthma and forgot your inhaler at home. But you might still want to come up with an apology for leaving him there with his drunk brother." James said.

"Or, you know, you could just tell him the truth and revel in the awesomeness of the fact that you're a frickin' werewolf." James said causing Remus to look at him, and James just shrugged.

"Okay, bad idea. Hey, we'll get through this. Come on, if I have to, I'll chain you up myself on full moon nights and feed you live mice. I had a boa once I could do it." James said looking over at Remus causing Remus to laugh and shake his head.

Remus sat on the bench outside the school waiting for Sirius, and when Sirius walked out of the school Remus stood up and went to talk to him.

"So what happened you left me stranded at the party." Sirius said walking still, making Remus follow him.

"Yeah, I-- I know, I know. I'm really sorry, I am. But.. you're gonna have to trust that I had a really good reason." Remus said walking next to Sirius.

"James said you had an asthma attack." Sirius said, stopping and looking at him.

"Yeah, I did. I forgot my inhaler at home, my mom yelled at me telling me how that was reckless. So I sent James to make sure you got home safe." Remus said looked at Sirius.

"I'll give you a second chance. Am I going to regret this?" Sirius asked.

"Probably." Remus said causing Sirius to laugh, they looked at each other's lips then they were interrupted by a car honking.

"That's my dad. I've got to go." Sirius said walking away and Remus smiled then turned to walk towards lacrosse practice but stopped when he smelt a familiar scent.

Remus turned around and saw the man from the night in the woods, the one that was holding the cross bow. The man smiled at him and Remus just waved at him and Sirius, Sirius smiled and waved back at him.

Remus walked into the locker room and went straight to his locker, then dropped his lacrosse bag on the ground and took off his shirt. James walked past him and stopped when he saw Remus lean up against his locker lost in his thoughts.

"Did you apologize to Sirius?" James asked leaning around the corner of the lockers.

"Yeah." Remus said looking forward with a emotionless stare.

"Is he giving you a second chance or.."

"Yeah." Remus said.

"Yeah! All right. So everything's good." James laughed and went to walk away.

"No."

"No?" James asked looking back around the corner at Remus, his smile dropping.

"Remember.. the hunters. His dad is one of them." Remus said.

"His dad?" James asked looking concerned.

"Shot me.. "

"Sirius' father?" James asked, his voice getting louder.

"With a crossbow." Remus said keeping his gaze forward.

"Sirius' father--"

"Yes! His father!" Remus yelled causing a few of the other players to look over at them, James blinked and shut his mouth. James looked around too see who all was looking and noticed everyone just glanced at them then carried on, but then James noticed Regulus was standing by his own locker staring at them.

James gave Regulus the 'what are you looking at?' look, causing Regulus to roll his eyes and look away, James watched as Regulus slammed his locker shut and left.

"Oh, my god." Remus said then started to panic.

"No, Remus. Snap back." James said hurrying over to Remus and standing infront of him, James lightly slapped him on the face. "You okay? Hey, all right? He didn't recognize you, right?"

"No. N-No. I don't think so." Remus said quickly.

"Does Sirius know about him?" James asked causing Remus' eyes to blow wide.

"Oh, yeah. I don't know. What if he does?" Remus asked and started panicking again.

"He's going to kill me man. I can't--" Remus was interrupted by Coach blowing his whistle.

"Okay, just focus on lacrosse. Okay, here Remus. Take this. And focus on the lacrosse for now, okay? That's all you gotta do, yeah?" James said handing Remus all of his gear and patting him on the shoulders.

"Lacrosse. Here we go!" James said then going to run out of the locker room and almost falling.

"Let's go! One-on-one from the top! Severus.. take a long stick today." Coach yelled and Severus stopped running and grabbed a long stick.

"Atta boy." Coach said.

Severus walked to defend the goal and got in position, Coach blew the whistle and everyone ran. There was players getting knocked off their feet- thrown to the ground, some getting goals and some who were doing nothing.

"Lupin, what are you waiting for? Let's go." Coach said, Remus had realized he was staring at Regulus who just glared at him in return. Remus snapped out of it and grabbed the ball and ran towards Severus, he tried going around him but Severus knocked him right off his feet. Remus hit the ground hard, his back aching from the impact.

"Hey, Lupin. Hey, Lupin." Coach laughed and walked over to him.

"Are you sure you still want to be first line, Lupin?" Severus said mockingly, Remus got up pissed off.

"My--My grandmother can move faster than that." Coach laughed and Remus hunched over in pain. "And she's dead. You think you can move faster than the.. lifeless corpse of my dead grandmother." Coach said, Remus looked over at Severus- eyes glowing yellow with hatred. Remus growled then looked over at Regulus and saw him smirking at the whole exchange.

"Yes, Coach." Remus growled.

"I can't here you." Coach said leaning closer to Remus.

"Yes, Coach." Remus bit out louder glaring at Severus.

"Then do it again." Coach said and backed away, Remus stood up and ran back to the spot he started. Eyes going back to normal.

"Lupin's gonna do it again! Lupin's gonna do it again!" Coach chanted, Remus looked across the field at Severus who got into position once again. Remus glared at Severus who only smirked, Coach's whistle blew again and this time Remus ran fast and right towards Severus.

Remus ran right into Severus knocking him to the ground this time, Severus hit the ground with a shout of pain. Remus then fell to his hands and knees suddenly feeling too pissed off, he couldn't calm himself down. James watched the whole exchange and then quickly rushed to Remus' side, while everyone else ran to Severus who was on the ground clutching his shoulder and groaning in pain.

"Remus? Remus? Are you okay?" James said kneeling down next to Remus.

"Yeah, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa." Coach said kneeling next to Severus as everyone rushed over to him.

"I can't control it, James. It's happening." Remus said growling and panting.

"What? Right here? Now?" James panicked. "Come on, get up. Come on." James said pulling Remus up from where he was on the ground, they both ran off towards the locker room.

Regulus stood there and watched as everyone was checking on Severus, he didn't crowd him too because he didn't really care. He then looked over at Remus and James and saw them running off towards the school locker rooms, Regulus watched them until they disappeared into the building. Then he looked over at the bleachers and saw a man standing there watching them as well, the man looked familiar but he couldn't place him.

'Was that the guy that gave Sirius and him a ride home from the party?' Regulus thought then quickly looked away as the man and him made sudden eye contact.

"Come on. Here we go." James said following Remus who tumbled into the locker room, James tried to help him in any way that he could.

"There. That's it. You okay? Remus, you okay?" James asked as he got in front of Remus.

"Get away from me!" Remus yelled at James who jumped back and fell on his ass, Remus' eyes were yellow and his fangs were showing.

James stumbled back and got up to run but fell again, he looked back at Remus who was getting up. James stood up and grabbed the lockers for support, then he looked up as Remus jumped up on top of them.

James ran towards the door to the locker room and his back hit a fire extinguisher, he quickly grabbed it and looked back towards Remus who was charging at him. Remus growled at him and jumped off of the lockers to lunge at him, James then sprayed the fire extinguisher at Remus.

Remus yelled and flailed his arms around at the smoke from the fire extinguisher, James stopped spraying him and moved outside of the door. James rested on the hallway wall and stayed quiet, Remus sat on one of the benches- he huffed and took off his helmet.

"James.." Remus said quietly causing James to look towards the locker room door, James took a deep breath then looked through the door frame and sighed when he saw Remus.

"What happened?" Remus asked. James threw the fire extinguisher down onto the ground and took off his gloves, throwing those on the ground too and walked into the locker room.

"You tried to kill me. It's like I told you before. It's the anger. It's your pulse rising. It's a trigger." James said sitting down in front of Remus.

"But that's lacrosse. It's a pretty violent game, if you haven't noticed." Remus said.

"Well, its gonna be a lot more violent if you end up killing someone on the field. You can't play Saturday. You're gonna have to get out of the game." James said.

"I'm first line." Remus said looking at James with sad eyes.

"Not anymore."

Remus walked into his room and set his backpack down on his floor then threw himself on the foot of his bed, then his mom knocked on his door frame.

"Hey. Late shift again for me. But I'm taking Saturday off to see your first game." She said smiling at him.

"No, mom, you can't." Remus said turning his head to look at her.

"Oh, no, I can and I will. Come on, one shift isn't gonna break us. Completely." She said walking into his room and standing at the foot of his bed.

"Hey, what's wrong with your eyes?" She asked causing Remus to quickly lift himself off of his chest to look at her.

"You look like you haven't slept in days."

"Oh, uh, it's nothing. I'm just.. stressed." Remus said looking at her.

"Just stress? Nothing else?" She asked.

"Homework."

"I mean, it's not like you're on drugs or anything, right?" She asked letting of a chuckle.

"Right now?"

"Right now? I'm sorry what do you mean 'right now?' Have you ever taken drugs?" She asked, eyes widening.

"Have you?" Remus asked her seriously. She looked at him then looked at the wall, opening her mouth then closing it. She smiled then backed up.

"Get some sleep." She said then walked out of his room, heading to work.

Remus groaned and threw his head back onto his bed, he sighed then got up to sit at his desk. He opened his laptop and Skyped James, when James answered the chat call he fired one of his toy guns at the screen.

Remus looked at him unimpressed then he spoke.

"What'd you find out?"

"Well, it's bad. Severus has got a separated shoulder." James said.

"Because of me?" Remus asked.

"Because he's a tool." James said mockingly.

"Well, is he gonna play?" Remus asked looking at James through the screen.

"Well, they don't know yet. Now they're just counting on you for Saturday." James said nodding his head, Remus sighed and shook his head.

Remus looked back at the screen and saw James move in closer to his screen face dropping.

"What?" Remus asked and James looked up at him with wide eyes, then James started typing. 'It looks like' Remus looked at his screen confused then it started to buffer.

"It looks like what?" Remus asked waiting for James to type the answer, it continued to buffer. Remus sighed cursing and tapping on his laptop, then it came through 'someone's behind you'.

"What?" Remus said then clicked on his video screen to enlarge it and saw what James was talking about, there was someone behind him. Just as he turned around to look he was met with Derek grabbing him and yanking him up, Remus gasped and Derek basically threw him into his bedroom wall. Derek pinned him to the wall then spoke.

"I saw you on the field."

"Wha-what are you talking about?" Remus yelled back at him.

"You shifted in front of them! If they find out what you are, they find out about me. About all of us. And then it is not just the hunters after us, it's everyone." Derek said pinning Remus harder into the wall.

"But.. they didn't see anything. I s-swear, I--"

"And they won't! Because if you even try to play in that game on Saturday.. I'm gonna kill you myself." Derek said then he vanished as did the hold on Remus, Remus looked around his room in fear.

"What do you mean. You can't play the game tomorrow night?" Coach asked as they entered his office and Remus closed the door behind him.

"I mean.. I can't play the game tomorrow night." Remus said again.

"You can't wait to play the game tomorrow night."

"No, Coach, I can't play the game tomorrow night." Remus said getting alittle irritated.

"I'm not following." Coach said crossing his arms.

"I'm having some personal issues." Remus said.

"Is it a girl?" Coach asked.

"No."

"Is it a guy? You know. Our goalie Danny is gay." Coach said causing Remus to choke back a laugh.

"Yeah, I know, Coach, but that's not it." Remus said trying to move on.

"You don't think Danny's a good-lookin' guy?" Coach asked him still on that topic.

"I- think he's good-looking. I-- but I--I already have interest in-- and that's not it, anyway! I-I--" Remus said quickly.

"What, is it drugs? Are you on meth? Because I had brother that was addicted to meth. You should've seen what it did to his teeth- they were all cracked and rotted. It was- it was disgusting." Coach said.

"Oh, my god. What happened to him?" Remus asked.

"He got veneers. Is-- is that what this is about? Are you afraid of getting hurt, Lupin?" Coach asked.

"No.. I'm... having some issues dealing with aggression." Remus said looking down for a second then looking back up at Coach as he spoke.

"Well, here's the good news. That's why you play lacrosse. Problem solved."

"Coach, I can't play the game tomorrow night." Remus said once again, getting even more irritated.

"Listen, Lupin, part of playing first line is taking on the responsibility of being first line. Now, if you can't shoulder that responsibility, then you're back on the bench until you're ready." Coach said standing up from leaning on his desk.

"If I don't play the game, you're taking me off of first line?" Remus asked.

"Lupin, play the game."

Remus was walking down the hall when he got a text from his mom, he opened his phone and read the text. 'Got the night off! Coming to see you play! So excited!!'

Remus read it while he kept walking then stopped after reading it and looked up at the stairs, and he saw Sirius walking down them. He quickly put his phone in his pocket then smiled at Sirius who smiled back and spoke.

"Hey."

"Hey." Remus said looked down at Sirius as he reached the bottom of the steps, Remus just now realizing he was a good 4 or 5 inches taller than Sirius.

"Busy?" Sirius asked.

"No, no, it's just, uh, my mom, she's nothing." Remus then panicked. "I mean, it's nothing. Uh, I'm never too busy for you." Remus said.

"I like the sound of that." Sirius said then laughed causing Remus to laugh as well.

"I have to run to French class, but I wanted you to know that I'm coming to see you play tomorrow." Sirius said.

"You are?" Remus said eyes widening.

"And we're all going out afterwards. You, me, Lily, Severus. It's gonna be great. Tell James to come too. Uh, save me a seat at lunch, I got to go." Sirius said then gave Remus another smile before walking off.

"Oh, God." Remus said.

Sirius walked down the hall to his locker and put in his combination, he opened his locker and paused. His jacket that he forgot in Derek's car was in his locker, he grabbed it and examined it. He looked around and jumped when the final bell rang, he chuckled to himself and figured that Remus must've put it in his locker.

Sirius put it back in his locker and then grabbed his French book then walked to class.

"Why is there a rumor going around that you're not playing tomorrow?" Regulus asked as he was writing his answers on the chalk board.

"Cause I'm sort of not." Remus said working on his own problem on the board.

"I think you sort of are. Especially since you brutally injured the captain of the team by ramming into him." Regulus said looking up at him.

"He brutally injured himself by ramming into me." Remus snapped back at Regulus, turning to glare at him then turning back to the board.

"Snape is supposedly going to play tomorrow, but I bet he's not going to be at his peak. And I prefer to win. I always win." Regulus said.

"Okay." Remus said looking at Regulus who was looking back at the board.

"I'm a Black, Blacks don't lose. I'm going to be on the winning lacrosse team, and if we start off the season losing, then I'll be on the losing lacrosse team. And I don't lose." Regulus said looking at Remus.

"Losing one game isn't gonna kill anyone." Remus snapped back looking Regulus in the eyes- they glared at each other for a few seconds before turning back to the board.

"In fact, it might even save someone." Remus said under his breath.

"Fine! Don't play. We'll probably win anyway. I'm on the team. Then everyone will go out after like they were planning and I will introduce Sirius to all the hot players on the team." Regulus said obviously trying to push Remus' buttons and it was working, Remus snapped to glare at Regulus.

"And Remus Lupin can stay home, surfing the net for porn." Regulus said looking at Remus then wrote down the last 2 numbers to his problem and set the chalk down, then he brushed the chalk off of his hands and turned around.

Regulus smiled at Mr. Slughorn then went to sit down, Mr. Slughorn smiled back then looked at Remus.

"Mr. Lupin, you're not even close to solving your problem."

"Tell me about it." Remus said.

"Hey, come here." James said grabbing Remus by his shoulders and pulling him away from his locker.

"What?" Remus asked letting James maneuver him, they stop at the bottom of the stairs and Remus looks back at James.

"Tell me what they're saying." James said and pointed to his dad and a deputy talking with the principal.

"Can you hear 'em?" James asked causing Remus to shush him.

"There have been a series of animal attacks, over the last couple of weeks. We want everyone under the age of 18 to be in their homes by 9:30 P.M. We'd like to institute the curfew, effective immediately." Fleamont said.

"Curfew because of the body." Remus said looking back at James.

"Unbelievable. My dad's looking out for a rabid animal, while the jerk-off who actually killed the girl is just hangin' out, doing whatever he wants." James said scoffing.

"Well, you can't exactly tell your dad the truth about Derek." Remus said.

"I can do something."

"Like what?" Remus asked already knowing what he's going to say.

"Find the other half of the body." James said.

"Are you kidding me?" Remus said irritated watching James walk away.

"This is Sirius."

Remus turned when he heard Regulus and Sirius talking, when he looked he saw Regulus and Sirius talking to one of the lacrosse players.

"Hi." Sirius said.

"It's nice to meet you." The guy said shaking Sirius' hand.

"Nice to meet you too." Sirius said with a small smile, Regulus happened to notice Remus looking and gave him a smirk. Remus glared at him then looked at Sirius and noticed his jacket, the same jacket Sirius was wearing the night of the party.

"Derek! Derek!" Remus yelled towards the Hale house then paused when he smelled something, he followed the smell with his eyes and saw a freshly dug hole that had been filled.

Remus studied it for a second then looked back toward the house and saw Derek standing there.

"Stay away from him! He doesn't know anything!" Remus yelled at Derek who started walking down the front steps of the house.

"Yeah? What if he does? You think your little buddy James can just Google werewolves, and now you got all the answers, is that it? You don't get it yet, Remus. But I'm looking out for you." Derek said stepping closer to Remus.

"Think about what could happen. You're out on the field. The aggression takes over. And you shift infront of everyone. Your mom, all your friends. And when they see you..." Derek said picking up Remus' lacrosse stick and poking him with it, Remus slapped it away. Derek then used his claws to tear holes in Remus' lacrosse stick net.

"Everything falls apart." Derek said then tossed Remus' lacrosse stick into the air and then Remus caught it, by the time Remus looked up again Derek was gone.

"What did you find? How did you find it? Where did you find it? And, yes, I've had a lot of Adderall, so.." James said as he busted through Remus' bedroom door, Remus looked at him then back at his lacrosse stick- he had just finished fixing.

"I just found something at Derek Hale's." Remus said looking back at James.

"Are you kidding? What?"

"There's something buried there-- I could smell blood." Remus said.

"That's awesome! I mean, that's terrible. Who's blood?" James asked trying to hide his excitement.

"I don't know. But when we do, your dad nails Derek for the murder. And then you help me figure out how to play lacrosse without changing. Because there's no way I'm not playing that game." Remus said throwing his lacrosse stick onto his bed, James smiled and they walked out of his bedroom.

James and Remus walked into the hospital and looked around, James saw the morgue sign on a door.

"Hey." James said pointing at the door.

"Okay." Remus said then looked around and went to go through the door.

"Good luck, I guess." James said and Remus nodded, Remus then pushed the door open and snuck inside.

James sighed and walked down the hallway, he then rounded a corner and saw Lily sitting in one of the waiting chairs. James had to do a double take, he mumbled an 'Oh, my god.'

"Hey. Lily." James put his hand on the wall and leaned on it. "You probably don't remember me. Um, I sit behind you in biology." James said while Lily tilted her head and twirled her hair.

"Uh, anyway, I always thought that we just had this kind of connection. You know, unspoken, of course. Maybe it'd be kind of cool to, uh.. get to know each other a little better." James said.

"Hold on, give me a second." Lily said and pulled out her earbud, pausing the conversation with whoever she had on the phone.

"Yeah, I didn't get any of what you just said. Is it worth repeating?" Lily asked with a smile, James just stared at her then shut his mouth, which he hadn't noticed was open.

"Uh, heh... No. Sorry." He said and backed away to go sit in one of the chairs around the corner. "I'll just sit." James said getting Lily to nod and go back to her phone conversation.

James sat down in the chair and sighed, he then grabbed a magazine deciding to read to pass the time. James opened the magazine and scoffed, but he was then pulled away from the magazine when suddenly someone next to him spoke.

"Nice try there, Romeo. Way to get rejected without her even knowing she's rejecting you."

James looked over and saw the voice belonged to Regulus who was reading a book not even looking up at him, James scoffed again then spoke.

"You heard everything? Wait- nevermind what are you doing here?" James asked.

"I like to come to the hospital to eat babies, it helps my appetite." Regulus said sarcastically looking over at James with a emotionless face before turning back to his book.

"No seriously, asshole. Why are you here?" James asked rolling his eyes.

"You don't need to know why I'm here, just like how I don't need to know why Remus went into the morgue." Regulus said turning the page of his book, James' jaw dropped and he stared at Regulus.

"Don't hang your mouth open like that, someone might take that as an invitation." Regulus said causing James to blink and quickly snap his mouth shut, Regulus smirked.

"Wha--"

"Regulus?" One of the nurses called out as she exited a room with a clipboard, Regulus looked up and closed his book standing up to go with the nurse. Regulus paused and turned around then spoke to James before he left.

"Oh, and next time try not to be so obvious when sneaking into places."

James watched as Regulus walked up to the nurse, who then smiled at him. They walked into a room down the hall and when they closed the door James just stared at it.

Remus walked down the hallway then when he found the morgue he hurried inside, he walked in and looked around at the names. Then he spotted a Jane Doe, he reached for the handle slowly. Remus took in a breath then opened it, Remus panted then pulled out the tray the body was on.

Remus lifted the sheet covering the half of the body, he then grabbed the tag on her toe and read it. He then quickly pushed it back inside and closed the door, once it was closed he sighed.

"Did he do it?" Lily asked Severus as she stood up.

"He said not to make a habit of it, but one cortisone shot won't kill me." Severus said, and James looked over at them.

"You should get one right before the game, so you're not in pain while playing." Lily said, Severus just looked at her.

"The pros do it all the time. You want to be a little high school amateur? Or.. do you want to go.. pro?" Lily asked pulling Severus forward and kissed him, James watched them with a disgusted look on his face.

As James was watching them walk away then Remus came up and grabbed the magazine from him, scaring him.

"Ohh! God!" James said sighing.

"The scent was the same."

"You sure?" James said standing up.

"Yes."

"So he did bury the other half of the body on his property?" James said rubbing his jaw.

"Which means we have proof he killed the girl." Remus replied with a nod.

"I say we use it." James said walking away causing Remus to follow behind him.

"How?" Remus asked causing James to turn around.

"Tell me something first. Are you doing this because you want to stop Derek? Or because you want to play in the game, and he said you couldn't?" James asked.

"There are bite marks on the legs, James-- bite marks." Remus said.

"Okay. Then we're gonna need a shovel."

"Wait, somethings different." Remus said as they walked over to the spot with a flashlight.

"Different how?" James asked.

"I don't know. Let's just get this over with." Remus said and then they started digging, 7 minutes went by and Remus spoke.

"This is taking way too long."

"Just keep going." James said.

"What if he comes back?" Remus asked nervously.

"Then we get the hell out of here." James snapped back continuing to dig.

"What if he catches us?" Remus asked.

"I have a plan for that."

"Which is?" Remus asked pausing.

"You run one way. I run the other. Whoever he catches first, too bad." James said shrugging.

"I hate that plan." Remus said chucking some dirt behind him, and James then hit something in the ground.

"Oh. Stop, stop, stop." James said throwing his shovel onto the ground then getting down to use his hands, Remus following shortly after him. James started to untie the rope holding the fabric in place, causing Remus to panic.

"Hurry."

"I'm trying. Did he have to tie the thing in, like, 900 knots?" James asked.

"I'll do it." Remus said helping James untie the knots.

They pulled the fabric away and screamed as they were met with the face of a wolf, they jumped out of the hole.

"What the hell is that?" James yelled.

"It's a wolf." Remus yelled back.

"Yeah. I can see that. I thought you said you smelled blood, as in human blood."

"I told you something was different." Remus snapped back then sighed.

"This doesn't make sense."

"We gotta get out of here." Remus said getting up.

"Yeah. Okay help me cover this up." James said then went to grab his shovel and paused when he saw a purple flower that was planted next to the hole.

"What's wrong?" Remus asked.

"You see that flower?" James asked pointing at the flower.

"What about it?" Remus asked.

"I've seen it before. It's called Aconitum napellus. It's wolfsbane." James said looking at the flower then back at Remus.

"What's that?" Remus asked.

"Uh... Haven't you ever seen the wolf man?" James asked.

"No."

"Lon Chaney Jr.? Claude Rains. The original, classic werewolf movie?" James asked.

"No! What?"

"You are so unprepared for this." James said getting up and grabbing the flower, pulling it out of the ground. And it had rope tied to it, James started to pull more. The rope was buried in a spiral around the body, James kept pulling and pulling until he reached the end.

Remus watched James then happened to look down at the body, his eyes widened and he stood up.

"James." Remus said looking down in the hole, James walked over to stand by Remus and looked down into the hole. James' jaw dropped and he stepped back.

"Holy.." James said when he saw that the body was no longer a wolf, but the girl staring up at them.

Remus stood leaning up against James' jeep watching as a deputy walked Derek out of the house in handcuffs, Derek glared at Remus who then looked down at the ground. They put Derek in the back of the squad car and Remus looked around then saw James walking over to the car after the police walked away from the car, they made eye contact and Remus shook his head at James trying to tell him no.

James scratched his head then got into the front passenger seat, Remus sighed and looked away. James looked through the window at his dad then turned to look at Derek.

"Okay, just so you know, I'm not afraid of you." James said and Derek glared up at him.

"Okay, maybe I am. Doesn't matter. I just wanna know something. The girl you killed.. she was a werewolf. She was a different kind, wasn't she?" James asked just getting a glare from Derek.

"I mean, she could turn herself into an actual wolf, and I know Remus can't to that. Is that why you killed her?" James asked.

"Why are you so worried about me when it's your friend who's the problem? When he shifts on the field what do you think they're gonna do.. huh? Just keep cheering him on? I can't stop him from playing, but you can." Derek said then moved closer to the bars causing James to move back.

"And, trust me.. you want to." Derek said and James just stared at him then the door opened and he was pulled out of the car by the back of his shirt.

"Hey--Ow!" James said as he stood up, his dad pulling him by the arm away from the car.

"Ow, ow, ow." James said.

"There. Stand." Fleamont said letting go of James who stood there and looked at him.

"What the hell do you think you're doing?" His dad asked.

"I'm just trying to help."

"Uh huh, okay, well, how 'bout you help me understand exactly how you came across this." Fleamont said and James sighed.

"We were looking for Remus' inhaler." James said.

"Which he dropped when?"

"The other night." James said.

"The other night when you were out here looking for the first half of the body."

"Yes." James said with a sigh.

"The other night when you told me you were alone and Remus was at home." Fleamont said.

"Yes. No. Oh, crap." James said looking down.

"So you lied to me."

"That depends on how you define lying." James said.

"Well, I define it as not telling the truth. How do you define it?"

"Mm, reclining your body in a horizontal position?" James said leaning back a little.

"Get the hell out of here." Fleamont said.

"Absolutely." James said walking over to Remus.

"I can't find anything about wolfsbane being used for burial." Remus said.

"Just keep looking. Maybe it's like a ritual or something, like maybe they bury you as a wolf. Or maybe it's like a special skill, you know? Like something you have to learn." James said keeping his eyes on the road to drive.

"I'll put it on my to-do list, right underneath figuring out how the hell I'm playing this game tonight." Remus said.

"Maybe it's different for girl werewolves."

"Okay! Stop it!" Remus shouted causing James to look over at him.

"Stop what?" James asked.

"Stop saying werewolf. Stop enjoying this so much."

"Are you okay?" James asked after getting yelled at.

"No! No, I'm not. I'm so far from being okay." Remus said groaning.

"You know, you're gonna have to accept this, Remus, sooner or later." James snapped back.

"I can't."

"Well, you're gonna have to." James said looking back at the road.

"No! I can't breathe!" Remus yelled and grabbed onto the ceiling of the jeep in pain.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa." James said his jeep swerving.

"Ah, pull over!" Remus shouted.

"Why? What's happening?" James asked, Remus opened James' backpack pulling out the wolfsbane and rope.

"You kept it?" Remus yelled.

"What was I supposed to do with it?" James replied and Remus growled, and turned to James.

"Stop the car!" Remus growled, eyes turning yellow. James slammed on the brakes and quickly grabbed his backpack.

"Okay.." James said then he jumped out of his jeep and threw his backpack out into the woods.

"Okay. We're good, you can.." James said turning back towards his jeep and froze when Remus was long gone. "Remus?"

"Remus?" James said quietly looking around- getting nervous. James got back in his jeep and took off, he decided to call dispatch.

"James, you know you can't call the dispatch line when I'm on duty."

"I just need to know if you've gotten any odd calls." James said into his phone.

"Odd how?" She asked sounding irritated.

"Uh, like an odd person or.. a dog like individual roaming the streets."

"I'm hanging up on you now." She said.

"No! Wai-wai-wai-wait!" James shouted into his phone but she already hung up, James cursed then threw his phone down onto the passenger seat.

Remus had found himself on Sirius' roof by his bedroom window, he watched as Sirius was putting away a couple things from some cardboard boxes. Remus crawled closer to get a better look, he saw Sirius looking at a couple pieces of paper and smiling at them.

Sirius got up and went to close his curtains, once his curtains were closed Remus saw his own reflection in the window and moved back. He didn't recognize himself, he had hair that had grown out of his cheeks, his eyes were yellow, he had pointed ears and fangs.

Horrified by his reflection he jumped off of their roof and ran a cross their drive way to leave, when he was suddenly hit by a car. Remus grunted as he hit the ground and changed back to human, Sirius' dad got out of the car and went to help him.

"My god." Orion said and then helped Remus turn over onto his back.

"Dad?" Sirius called out as he walked out of the house.

"Dad! What the hell are you doing?" Sirius asked as he rushed over, Orion turned around to look at Sirius then spoke.

"He--He came out of nowhere, Sirius." His dad said.

"Are you trying to kill him?" Sirius asked and that made Remus look over at Orion with fear in his eyes.

"No, no. Of course not. He just ran out into the driveway." Orion said.

"I'm sorry. It's my fault. I'm sorry." Remus said groaning.

"Are you okay?" Sirius said now kneeling next to him hands on his shoulder.

"Yeah. Y-yeah, I'm fine. I swear." Remus said as Sirius looked at him and brushed Remus' hair away from his face.

"Sorry I hit your car." Remus said to Orion who just shook his head then looked at Sirius who was looking down at Remus worried.

"I was just coming to say hi." Remus said to Sirius with a smile causing Sirius to chuckle, Orion looked between the two of them then spoke.

"You sure you're okay?" Orion asked grabbing Remus' arm to help him up from the ground.

"Yeah. Completely." Remus said with a small groan as Sirius and his dad helped him up.

"Uhh. I should go, I've got a lacrosse game to get to. You're still coming, right?" Remus asked and Sirius moved Remus' hair again with a smile, Orion watched the whole exchange and looked at Sirius with a small hard to see glare.

"Of course I'm coming." Sirius said with a smile then laughed.

"We both are." Orion said and patted Remus' shoulder, Remus looked over at him with a nervous smile and Sirius looked down. "Regulus is also playing. I promised him we'd be there." Orion said and Sirius just nodded.

Remus was finishing putting on his gear when he heard Severus say his last name, he looked over at Severus who was talking to a couple of players.

"Only to me, not to Lupin.." Severus whispered but Remus heard it.

Remus looked away and grabbed his gloves from his locker then sat on the bench infront of his locker, and then James walked over to him.

"You gonna try and convince me not to play?" Remus asked with a scoff.

"I just hope you know what you're doing." James said with a sigh.

"If I don't play, I lose first line and Sirius."

"Sirius' not going anywhere. And it's one game that you really don't need to play." James said.

"I want to play!" Remus snapped back causing James to just look at him.

"I wanna be on the team. I wanna go out with Sirius. I want a semi-freaking normal life. Do you get that?" Remus asked, with sad eyes.

"I get it." James said then dropped his bag and sat next to Remus on the bench with a sigh.

"Just try not to worry too much while you're out there, okay? Or get too angry."
"I got it." Remus nodded.

"Or stressed."

"I got it." Remus said again.

"Don't think about Sirius being in the stands. Or that his father's trying to kill you. Or that Sirius' brother is out there and probably doesn't like you. Or that Derek's trying to kill you. Or the girl he killed. Or that you might kill someone. If a hunter doesn't kill you first.. I'm sorry. I'll stop." James rambled and Remus looked at him horrified.

"Good luck." James said.

James and Remus walked out onto the field and Remus' mom waved at him as she got onto the bleachers, he waved back then looked up a couple rows then he saw Sirius and his dad sitting in the stands. Sirius laughing at something his dad said then he smiled and waving at Remus.

"Remus!" Regulus yelled and grabbed Remus by his collar getting his attention, James' jaw dropped and he stopped walking.

"I just want you to remember one thing for tonight. " Regulus said causing Remus to look down at him shocked.

"Uh.. winning isn't everything." Remus said sarcastically trying to push Regulus' buttons, Regulus glared at him then fake laughed.

"Nobody likes a loser." Regulus said and gave a fake smile then rolled his eyes and walked off, knocking shoulders with him.

"Dude, what was that about?" James asked.

"I don't even know." Remus said back to James, watching Regulus twirl his lacrosse stick. Then Remus just walked with James getting ready for the game.

"How's your shoulder?" Coach asked Severus as he sat next to him on the bench.

"It's fine."

"You feel any pain?" Coach asked.

"No."

"What I'd I gave it a big ol' punch. Would you-- would you feel any pain then?" Coach asked then faked a punch getting Severus to look at him weird.

"Maybe."

"Listen, just go out there. Just give it your best. If you feel any pain, just.. uh.." Coach said but Severus finished his sentence.

"Just.. keep.. playing?"

"That's my boy." Coach said, then the whistle blew and everyone rushed out on the field.

Remus ran out and got in position then spoke to himself. "Please let this be okay. Please." He said and closed his eyes taking calming breaths.

"Hey, kid." Fleamont said as he came up behind James who was sitting on the bench.

"Hey."

"So you think we're going to get any action tonight?" Fleamont asked.

"Action? Maybe." James said tilting his head.

The whistle blew and the games started Remus ran and had his stick up and ready so someone could pass the ball. Everytime he was open no one would throw it to him or Regulus either, Remus could tell that Regulus was getting pissed off.

Regulus was swinging his stick around and twirling it, Regulus had enough of it so he knocked one of his own teammates down and took the ball from him then scored. Regulus got the first goal of the game, Remus threw his hands up into the air getting irritated, Regulus came back towards him and stopped to talk to him.

"You have to take what you want, Lupin." Regulus said, shrugging.

Remus growled and the whistle blew and everyone hurried back into position. And yet again no one would pass the ball to Remus, they were now passing to Regulus but not to him. Remus watched as the person holding the ball was tackled, he saw the ball laying there so he ran for it.

Remus went to scoop up the ball but was knocked to the ground by Severus, he could hear his mom in that stands gasp as he hit the ground. Remus got up and his anger start to grow, he pushed it down and watched as Severus scored a goal.

"That's it, Severus! Get fired up! Fired up!" Coach yelled, Remus sighed and looked over at Regulus who just gave him a judgemental look. Remus looked over at Regulus and shrugged, causing him to start walking over to him.

"Start playing like you do at practice, Lupin. I don't lose. And you don't want to lose Sirius." Regulus mocked and walked passed him, Remus growled and his anger was trying to claw its way out again. Everyone cheered as Severus scored, James sighed and looked at Remus.

Remus looked over and saw Lily and Sirius had both stood up cheering as well, Lily then reached down to grab her sign she made that said 'we luv u Severus'. Remus looked at the sign then glared, James looked at him then turned around to look at the sign as well.

"Brutal." James said turning back towards Remus who shook his head and growled.

"Oh, this is not gonna be good." James said.

"Only to me." Severus said to the other players.

"But what if Remus or Regulus are open?" Danny asked.

"Who's the captain, you or me?" Severus said causing Remus to stop and listen closer.

"Severus, you. Dude, I just wanna win." Danny said.

"We will win."

"But--" Danny said trying to plead with Severus but was cut off by Severus who spoke again.

"What did I say? Huh? What.. did.. I say?" Severus asked.

"Don't pass to Lupin, or Black." Danny said.

"You guys can pass to Black, just don't pass to Lupin." Severus growled. Then they all dispersed and went to their positions, Remus growled and his eyes turned yellow with his rising anger.

Remus got into his position and hunched over huffing out his growing anger, the ref came up to him and asked him if he was alright. Which he just replied with a nod, then noticed how some of the players on the opposite looked at him with caution.

"Which ones Remus again?" Orion asked.

"Number 11.." Sirius said biting his nails.

"Otherwise known as the one who hasn't caught a single ball this entire game." Lily said.

"I hope he's okay." Sirius said.

"I hope we're okay." Lily said quietly.

"We need to win this." Lily looked at the score board and it was 3-5, they were losing.

"Sirius. You'll help me?" Lily said standing up with her other sign and turning towards Sirius, he sighed and stood up to help her hold the sign. Sirius didn't want to hold the sign but still helped her hold it up.

Remus looked over at them again and saw the new sign that said 'Severus is #1' on it, Remus growled and his eyes turned yellow again. The whistle blew and Remus looked up and saw the ball coming down, Remus ran to it and knocked the other team's player out of the way and caught it.

After he caught it he ran towards the goal, running passed all the opposite team's players and finally scoring. Sirius and Remus' mom were the first ones to stand up and cheer, then James followed by everyone else.

"Pass to Lupin! Pass to Lupin! To Lupin!" Coach yelled out, Remus smirked and then looked over and Regulus who gave him a small smirk and a nod.

Severus was glaring at Remus but Remus decided to ignore it and went back into position, the whistle blew and they were back at it.

Remus ran up to the other team's player 13, and when the guy looked at him he stopped and passed it to him, when he saw Remus' glowing eyes. Remus gladly took the ball and ran towards the goal.

"Did the opposing team just deliberately pass us the ball?" Coach asked as he sat down next to James.

"Yes, I believe so, Coach." James replied as Remus dodged a bunch of players as he ran towards the goal.

"Interesting." Coach said with a smirk then Remus scored again, ball going right through the goalie's net. The crowd erupted with cheers again and Coach and James both started cheering as well.

"Yes! Yes! There you go!" Coach yelled.

"Wha.." Remus' mom said in shock.

"Why to go Lupin!" Coach said then got stopped by a ref.

"What? The ball's in the net."

"The ball's in the net!" James repeated.

"That's the goal of the game, get the ball in the net!" Coach argued with the ref.

"We got it." Coach said then blew his whistle.

Remus looked at the score board and saw it was 5-5, Remus felt his anger still simmering inside him. His eyes still yellow, fangs still out.

"Yo, what the hell is up with your teammate, man? What's he on?" The captain of the other team asked Severus.

"I dont know. Yet." Severus said and the the whistle blew.

Remus had gotten the ball again, he went towards the goal but then paused and panted looking between the defenders and goalie. James noticed this and watched nervously.

"Remus, no, no." James said watching him starting to lose control, 17 seconds left on the board. Remus was started to lose himself when he then heard Sirius' voice.

"You can do it, Remus." Sirius said. Those exact words echoed in Remus' head and he found himself calming down and coming back, 7 seconds were left in the game and Remus snapped back. Remus swung back then let the ball fly, scoring- the crowd roared and the game was won 6-5.

"Yes! Oh, my god!" James shouted and sighed, his hands in the air.

Remus took off his glove and saw his claws, Remus looked around then ran toward the school to go to the locker room. Sirius ran out to find Remus on the field but frowned when he couldn't find him then he spotted him running off of the field towards the school, Sirius then followed him.

Remus stumbled into the locker room panting, he quickly took off his helmet and threw it to the ground it rolled out of the locker room and into the hall way. Sirius rounded the corner and saw Remus' helmet laying in middle of the hallway.

Sirius then walked into the locker room and looked around.

"Remus? Remus are you here?" Sirius asked walking around the lockers and then decided to walk towards the showers.

"Remus?" Sirius called out then he rounded the corner and saw Remus leaning towards the shower wall, Sirius walked up behind him and touched his shoulder.

"Remus." Sirius called again and turned Remus around to face him, Remus turned around and looked down at him with a confused look.

"Are you all right?" Sirius asked.

"Yeah. Sorry, I.. just kind of got lightheaded for a sec." Remus said looking down at Sirius.

"Maybe it's the adrenaline. You were pretty amazing out there." Sirius said with a smile.

"I'm sorry for acting really weird today."

"It's okay. I can handle weird." Sirius said with a smirk.

"To be completely honest with you, you make me kind of nervous." Remus said with a smirk looking down into Sirius' eyes.

"I do?" He asked.

"Yeah. Like kind of like, really nervous." Remus said with a smile, making Sirius laugh.

"I just want to make sure I get my second chance."

"You already have it. I'm just waiting for you to take it." Sirius said stepping closer to Remus looking into his eyes.

"Well, maybe I should learn to take more chances." Remus said leaning down closer to Sirius making him blush a little and look down.

"Maybe you should."

"Maybe more chances like this." Remus said causing Sirius to look up at him, Remus grabbed Sirius' waist and pulled him closer so that their bodies were touching.

"And like this." Remus said then kissed Sirius, Sirius closed his eyes and melted into the kiss. It wasn't a soft peck either it was passionate and heated, Remus felt Sirius smile into the kiss. Remus pulled away and smiled down at Sirius who looked up at him, they rested their foreheads together and laughed.

"I think you should definitely do that more often." Sirius said.

"Oh, I will." Remus said then went in for another kiss, James ran around the corner and froze then backed up.

"Oh, god." James whispered and walked to stand behind the lockers then looked back around the corner at them.

Sirius pulled away and smiled, then giggled. Remus smiled down at him and laughed as well, then Sirius spoke.

"Uh, I gotta get back to my dad."

"All right." Remus said smile still not leaving his face, Sirius walked out of the showers and looked at James.

"James." Sirius said with a smirk.

"Sirius." James said and nodded watching him leave the locker room, Remus then walked over to him.

"I kissed him."

"I saw." James said.

"He kissed me."

"Saw that too. That's pretty good, huh?" James said with a smirk, and Remus sighed with a grin on his face.

"I-I-I don't know how, but I controlled it. I pulled it back. Maybe I can do this. Maybe it's not that bad." Remus said.

"Yeah, heh. We'll talk later, then." James said going to turn to walk away but Remus grabbed his shoulder stopping him.

"What?"

"The, uh, medical examiner looked at the other half of the body we found." James said.

"And.." Remus asked.

"Well, I'll keep it simple. Medical examiner determines killer of the girl to be animal, not human. Derek's human, not animal. Derek not killer. Derek let out of jail." James said.

"Are you kidding?"

"No, and here's a bigger kick in the ass. My dad I.D.'d the dead girl. Both halves. Her name was Laura Hale." James said.

"Hale?"

"Derek's sister." James said then scoffed and Remus' eyes widened.

Severus was walking back onto the field and spotted a glove, he picked it up and examined it. He saw holes in the tip of the fingers, then looked closer at the glove and saw R.L. written on them in sharpie.
