what do i title this. brightney faints and it gives her an excuse to talk to tisha i guess.

Brightney only ever returned to her room during the day to check the extensive to-do list pinned on a bulletin board. Time spent in her room dwindled even further as time went on.

Connie groans, laying stomach-first on thin air while trailing besides Brightney. “You’re like- always busy! When does it get to the point where I can start lying about you being dead?”

Brightney side-eyes Connie, readjusting her grip on the heavy pile of books she was holding. “I don’t think I ever agreed to you lying about that. Or lying about anything for that matter.”

“You’re boring.” Connie crosses her arms. “Just take a day off or you might become just like me!”

“Too much free time?” Brightney smirks, raising an eyebrow.

”Dead, Brightney. Is there really anything in that lampshade?” Connie teases, pausing in front of the library. She sighs in defeat, shrugging. “Just reach out if you ever see free time again in your life and want to spend it doing something that isn’t reading, hm?”

Brightney giggles and nods, walking into the darkened library. She sets the books down on a table, sighing when the weight leaves her arms. Brightney blinks tiredly, leaning on the table.

She tries to sort through the books, zoning out into some half-asleep state thats hard to describe.

The sound of a falling pile of books knocks Brightney back into awareness, looking at the scatter of books on the table and floor. She groans quietly, kneeling down to pick them up. Her head swims and a feeling of nausea hits her like a hammer.

She ignores the rather unnatural feeling of heat in the room, her grasp on the fallen books getting shakier. The haze in her mind strengthens, like a growing fog on all of her thoughts.
Just as the haze starts to bleed into her vision, she falls to the side from her kneeling position, the room spinning around her at a mile per minute. Brightney closes her eyes.

Finally, sleep. No matter how unintentional, rest is rest.

The sound of keys jostling against each other and the lock being twisted can be heard no more than a minute later, Tisha humming quietly as she stepped into the dark library.

”Brights?” Tisha called out. She had heard from Connie’s complaining that Brightney was in the library, conveniently where Tisha needed to tidy up next. Brightney kept tidy, so it didn’t usually take very long, but Tisha liked talking to her when she could.

Yielding no response, Tisha shrugged and ventured around the library, humming quietly with a content smile.

Tisha turns a corner, her eyes widening and her footsteps halting. “Brights!”

Brightney groans a little, a small crack in the lens of her glasses.

Tisha kneels next to Brightney, worried. “What happened?”

”I-I fell asleep.” Brightney mutters groggily.

”Don’t lie to me.”

”Sorry.”

”It was a short spell, Tish, I promise I’m okay.” Brightney insists calmly, leaning on the table. The two of them sat face, two chairs that were next to each other having been rotated to face each other.

”Are you?” Tisha’s head tilts. “The fact that happened at all is…concerning.”

Brightney nods slowly, smiling reassuringly.

Brightney tries to stand again, the room spinning around her again.

“It hasn’t even been 10 minutes and you’ve tried to do that like, three times.” Tisha pulls Brightney back down. “What happened to the girl who taught me first aid?”

”She’s busy right now,” Brightney sighs. Tisha chuckles, grabbing Brightney’s hand.

”If you need to get around so badly, I can help.” Tisha smiles softly. Brightney’s expression is skeptical yet intrigued.

Tisha helps Brightney slowly stand up, letting her lean on the table, before lifting her up bridal-style.

Tisha holds in a laugh at Brightney’s expression for a good minute. “So, tell me about your day’s to-do list.”

”Well, uh…” Brightney lists off her different tasks for the day, the list extending longer than Tisha expected.

”Yeesh, in one day? No wonder this isn’t the first time this has happened.”

The two laugh while Tisha carries Brightney out of the dark library and into the bright lighting of gardenview once again.
