CHAPTER 1

Blue eyes staring down at his brother’s brown ones, Klaus smiled softly to his bother before he slowly turned to ashes and flew away. Elijah, stared at what remains of his brother, waiting for his own death to come. He blinked confused when he noticed the he was clearly still alive. Alive which shouldn’t be possible because he had intended to die with his brother, but he felt that something had stopped him. He would’ve continued delving into his thoughts had he not felt the hair on the back of his neck slightly tingle. Looking around, warily, he noticed that there is someone sitting on the bench next to where he and his brother had been sitting not so long ago. The figure, taking notice that Elijah is approaching, patted the seat next him as if indicating that he wants Elijah to sit with him.

“So, you have finally noticed that I had stopped your attempted death.” The man on the bench asked. “It appears as such. The obviousness, right” Elijah replied, his tone appearing angry.

The man just laughed and tapped on his chin, as if thinking. “There is no use of unnecessary hostility, Elijah Mikaelson. I’m not a threat, nor am I here bring chaos.” It uttered. What seemingly a calm statement did nothing to quell the anger Elijah feels. Why this man stopped his death, he didn’t know. All he knows is that his patience is thinning, an almost impossible thing to happen, because out of all of his siblings, he has the longest patience. “Then what are you here for, if I may ask?” Elijah bit back. “I’m going straight to the point, Mr. Mikaelson. I came here to aske you a favor, well not exactly asking, as I demand you to agree… by any means necessary” The man asked. “You seem to have me at a disadvantage, Mr? You know my name yet I do not know yours” Elijah answered, now more composed though starting to wonder if he’ll be pissed by the ‘demand’ the man was saying. “My apologies, the name is Mortem more known as death” The man’s response caused an alarm to Elijah, as he had heard of the name from ancient books. “And what of this demand might I ask?” said Elijah.

“From another Universe, much like this one, a child needs you. I need you to raise him, teach him how to fight and defend himself, protect him from those who wish him any harm, and most importantly, give him love and treat him as your own.” The man said, looking straight to Elijah. Said person on the other hand can’t seem to take in what had just Mortem said. Him? Raising a child? “Why me if I may ask? I fail to see the reason why you have chosen me to do so. Surely, there are other beings that can?”

“Let me answer that with another question Mr. Mikaelson. Of all your years of existence, have you not had the desire to have a child of your own?” The man replied, taking Elijah by surprise. “I had long given up on that idea since I became a vampire. I certainly know that adoption exist, but with all the enemy my family has, that child would be better off without me.”

“Deny all you want Mr. Mikaelson. But I’ve seen your memory, and I quite understand you desire to have an heir of your own. I saw how you tried your best to raise your niece, and how you would sacrifice your life for her.” Mortem added. “And yet you failed to see how that turned out” Elijah replied. “You still berate yourself for things that are meant to happen. Despite your current mindset, you are an honorable man, Mr. Mikaelson. You of all people should know that you carried responsibilities far more than you should bear. This child I’m talking about just lost his parents right at this moment, all because of unpleasant things destined to happen. You Mr, Mikaelson, is the perfect person to raise him. You have a heart to be a father, and you are capable of raising a boy to be a force to reckon with.” Mortem said. “I’ve seen all the possible futures this world held for that boy, and yet the one with you in it is the best I can think of. There are problems he’ll face that a person his age shouldn’t be facing. And knowing how you devote yourself to someone makes you all the while the best choice. Should you refuse my offer, that boy would be left alone in the hands of his horrid relatives. So let me ask you this Mr. Mikaelson, would you be willing to do me a favor?” Mortem added. Elijah, all the while understood all the reasons the man listed. Of course, it is no issue for him to raise a child especially from another universe, where his enemies can’t follow, but he couldn’t justify leaving what remains of the Mikaelson family. “What about my family? Rebekah? Hope?” Elijah asked, already dropping the hint that he considered accepting the favor. “Do not worry Mr. Mikaelson, they’ll be well taken care of. Your supposed death in this universe had already been destined to happen, all things happen for a reason.” Mortem explained.

After hearing that, Elijah’s decision seemed to have been sealed. He’s up for the favor. But first, he needs to know everything about the universe he’s being sent to. If he’s going to protect the boy, he would need every bit of information he could utilize to do so. And so, he asked “And what are the things I need to know about this universe?” to which Mortem just smiled at.

“There are things you need to discover on your own of course, but I’ll give you a head start. The boy’s name is Harry James Potter, the son of Lily Evans and James Potter. Born last July 31, 1980 in that universe, making him 15 months old. Magic exists in that universe, but different than yours. Witches and Wizards in that universe uses magic different than yours. Though they use nature sometimes, they are not bound by it to perform magic. They have magical core of their own… their blood is magic… their power scales higher than this universe’s Witches could do. They use a focus to channel their magic known as wands, as their magic are raw and untamed. Wizards with great power could perform magic without the aid of a wand, but it is a rare occurrence. Going back to Harry, his parents were murdered because a Dark Lord got a hold of the prophecy where a child born as the seven moth dies would be the cause of his downfall. Harry would have died as well have the killing curse not rebounded to Voldemort: The Dark Lord. He was hit by the curse which I had said rebounded and killed the caster itself, but it left a scar on Harry’s forehead, imbued with dark magic, that even your vampire blood cannot heal” by the end of the introduction, to say that Elijah was fuming was an understatement. “Even there, vile people still exist. They have the audacity to kill a baby? That’s the same to what could have happened to Hope.” Elijah stated.

Mortem sighed, with a hint of satisfaction. He had known that Elijah was convinced. “The rest of the things are for you to find out. I take it that you agree?” Mortem asked for the final confirmation to which Elijah nodded. “After I sent you there, go straight to number 4 privet drive little whining surrey. Hide behind a tree near the house and wait for the Wizards to drop off the baby. After that, you might want to take a trip to the Leaky Couldron. From there, the rest of the things are for you to decide.” Mortem instructed. And without waiting for an answer, he snapped his finger and Elijah felt spinning and then he was gone, leaving Mortem alone on the bench. “Best of luck Elijah and Harry” those where the last word before Mortem finally disappeared.

What seems to have been an eternity of spinning for Elijah finally stopped. He found himself standing at near an ever so familiar bench, but with distinct difference. He looked around to study his surrounding before finally taking a rational move. He need to get to Surrey immediately. Faster than anyone could have imagines he disappeared from the sight, on his way to Privet Drive number 4.
