Chapter 2
CHAPTER 2
Elijah observed the silent street of privet drive. He had reached the place not so long ago, and all he could decipher are the sleeping resident of privet drive. He did, however noticed a tabby cat not so far away from a particular house, Number 4. He watched the cat for quite sometimes and noticed that the animal differs from the normal characteristics of its kind. No cat should be sitting so stiff, which immediately put Elijah on guard. While at it, Elijah thought back to what mortem had said, ‘does this boy’s relatives really that unsuited for raising him’ he thought.
It did not take time before Elijah noticed a change of scenario. He noticed that an elderly man had appeared, walking on the street towards the house he’s observing. The old man. Had white long hair and white long beard, wearing unusual robes and a halfmoon spectacles. Said man took out what appears to be a lighter in Elijah’s perspective. He raised it just above his head, and all the while the lights from the lamp posts started disappearing towards the ‘lighter’. Upon watching what happened, Elijah was taken aback. Elijah noticed that the man had paid attention to the cat seated not near from him.
“I should have known that you would be here, Professor Mcgonagall…” the man spoke with a soft tone, as if he knows something about the cat that Elijah doesn’t. The cat, now looking at the man, transform to an old stern looking woman wearing an intricate robe just like the other person is wearing. Now, Elijah realized that these are the witches and wizards of this universe. To say that he’s amazed is an understatement as those feats would have required witches from his world that holds a higher caliber of power. The woman approached the man and spoke “Good evening, Professor Dumbledore” she greeted. “Are the rumors true, Albus?” she asked, as they continued to walk towards the house. “I believe so, Professor” the man, now Professor Dumbledore, responded. “The good, and the bad” he added, to which the woman (Mcgonagall) intercepted with “and the boy” she said. The last statement made Elijah perk up in interest. He continued to eavesdrop from their conversation, discovering that Harry’s parents had died a few hours ago. And that, this Hagrid something is bringing him there.
To what seemed like minutes of talking and eavesdropping, a noise finally formed from the sky accompanied by a light and a disfigured shadow. Upon having a closer look, Elijah saw a giant bearded man riding what appears to be a FLYING MOTORBIKE!!!. The man landed in front of the two first comers, offering his greetings and going through the bike retrieving a cot, to which Elijah assumed is the baby.
The three of them, not including Elijah and the baby talked for a few more moments, before Dumbledore put the cot down at the doorstep of the house leaving only a letter and not bothering to knock, making Elijah’s eyes bulge in shock before it was replaced with anger. The three magicals then bid their goodbyes, with Hagrid leaving first. Mcgonagall looked to be the one leaving as she started walking towards the streets only stopping at the end of it. “I don’t know who you are. But I hope you would help that poor boy, for whatever your plan is. Care for him” she mumbled in a low voice, with no humans being able to hear it. Fortunately, Elijah is a vampire, having a good hearing range, so he heard all of it. And judging by the way the boy was left at a doorstep, in a cold night of November, Elijah is adamant to take the child in his possession. Leaving only Dumbledore and Elijah at the location, Dumbledore walked away from the property. He stopped and looked back at the cot “Good luck, Harry Potter!” with that and the knowledge and satisfaction of knowing that he had placed a warming charm on Harry, enough to last until his relative finds him, he disappeared with a pop.
With that, Elijah blurred through the street and stopped in front of the house’s doorstep, looking down at the sleeping baby. The baby looked so peaceful, blankets wrapped around him, his white skin and chubby little cheeks, mouth sucking on his thumb, but the thing that Elijah noticed the most is the fresh scar, in the shape of a lightning bolt permanently located on little Harry’s forehead.
He picked the baby up and readied himself to leave, blurring on his way to the hotel he had booked for the night. He had been so relieved that his fortune and assets had stayed in his name, all thanks with the help of mortem. It saved him from having the trouble of compelling the lobby assistant in giving him a room for the night.
After reaching the room, which he intended to do with the fastest way possible, he laid Harry down and covered his half body with the duvet. Elijah then took the chair beside the bed, and allowed himself to wonder towards the events that had happened. He had planned to take the child with him tomorrow to the place Mortem had said that he should visit. He was getting frustrated by the moment so he decided to go over the island inside the room he had acquired and popped himself a bottle of whatever wine they had to offer. He poured himself a glass of it before going back to where he had left the child. He was halfway through it when he noticed that a paper had appeared beside his glass. He picked up the note and it read:
“I presume I was being vague on what I had said did I? there are things I want for you to find out for yourself. When you find the way to the magical word of that universe, find a way to visit Gringots and state your name. From there, you would need to decide what will you do.

Elijah finished reading the letter and put it down, singing for the millionth time that day. He chugged the wine all the way down and put in in the sink, walking back to the sleeping baby in his care. It was a few more hours before the sun rises, and he wasn’t quite sure how was he going to spend his time, especially with his belongings being left from his former universe. Upon thinking of that, his belongings appeared next to him in a pile, his suits and mostly his books and his mother’s grimoire that was in his possession. He allowed himself to give a soft smile, despite all the things he had been dragged to, his books are the things that brought him peace. He picked up a book and made himself comfortable before starting to read for the next hours or so before the baby wakes up.
For what seemed like an hour of reading, he was disturbed by a cry from the bed. He closed the book and sat in down the table and approached the bed. He stared down at the crying baby, who seemed to have been walking not so pleasant. “Dada?” Harry called, to which made Elijah felt a twinge hit him. The child had just lost his parents recently, and he seemed quite clueless on what had happened. Or so Elijah thought. Harry started crying louder, calling out his ‘Mama’ and ‘Dada’ and wailing ‘bad’, ‘man’. From those words Harry had said, it hit Elijah that the boy had been aware of what had happened to his parents. So, Elijah, while debating whether to pry for more or leave it at that, reached out and touched the baby’s head, entering his mind telepathically (one of his vampiric abilities.)
He found himself standing at a small house, with a warm maroon color and an air that permeated magic. He looked around and found a couple, the man being the look alike of Harry and the woman had red bushy hair and a unique green eye. The couple was apparently looking down at a baby, and by all means its Harry.
For what seemed quite the peaceful night was disturbed by the bang at the door. Both the man and woman looked alarmed, before the woman took Harry and ran upstairs while the man faced the door. “Lily, take Harry and go. I’ll hold him off” was what the man had said, while the woman response was “No James!!!” before the scenery that Elijah is seeing changed from the common room to what looked to be a nursery. There were cribs, baby toys, stuffed animals and everything else. He noticed that the woman was in a panic and had tears streaming down her face. She placed Harry on the crib and faced the door, just as there was a flash of green light and everything downstairs went silent.
A noise could be heard that someone is ascending the stairs. Moments later, Elijah saw the door get blasted, woods from its remnant going everywhere. The intruder, which was the first time that Elijah has the chance to see its face, was a bald man, with pale skin and a snake-like face. “Stand aside foolish girl, and I’ll spare your life” the man spoke. “No, not Harry please, take me, not him” was what the woman responded. The man laughed sickly and raised the ‘stick’ he was holding speaking “Avada kedavra” and there, a green light came from the end of the ‘stick’ hitting the girl who dropped motionless on the floor. To say that Elijah was shocked is an understatement, as he never knew that ‘wands’ he figured is capable of casting a spell that could kill instantly without any trace of harm whatsoever. The scene in front of him made him realize how dangerous if would be for the child because if an instant kill spell could exist, how much more could the magic of this universe offer.
The man that had just killed Harry’s mother walked slowly to where Harry was, and raised his wand again “They think that a mere child could bring my downfall, me Dark Lord Voldemort!” he spoke, “I shall prove them wrong. Die, Harry Potter!” he shouted before he casted the same incantation and that same green light appeared. Elijah, on his part, tried to blocked the curse thrown at Harry, but the jet of green light just went pass through him and continued its way towards Harry. “No!” Elijah called out, but the thing that happened next shocked him. Again! The green light that had hit Harry bounced back and hit Voldemort instead, whom scream sickly as he turned to ashes, parts of the ceiling also going down because of the backflash. Elijah looked back to Harry and noticed that he is crying and that his forehead is bleeding. Elijah found that his eyes had developed a moist, to which he ignored as he approached the crying baby. He reached out to wipe the tears of the baby but found himself passing through Harry’s face. He couldn’t do anything.
Thinking that he’d seen enough, he left Harry’s mind. He found himself standing back on the room, staring down at Harry, who’s staring back at Elijah with the most striking emerald eyes. The baby pouted as another tear escaped his eyes, raising a grabby hand at Elijah, offering a tearful grin at the same time. It made Elijah’s heart beat faster if that was even possible and found himself compelled to pick up the baby. And he did, reaching down and picking Harry up gently and brought him up closer to him. He pressed Harry to his chest and rubbed his back while rocking ever so slightly. Harry on the other hand, rested his head on Elijah’s shoulder, still sniffing. The act made Elijah feel warm, a warmth that spread inside him, giving him the feel that he can do this. And he sure can.
Both stayed on that position for quite some time, with Elijah rubbing his back and rocking gently until Harry’s cries seized and fall back to sleep. He then put the baby back to bed and returned to the chair, thinking of the memory Harry had just shown him or more like he pried to. But seeing how dangerous it is in that universe, Elijah would need to make wise decisions, not that he doesn’t, but still better safe than sorry.
A few more hours passed and the sun had made its appearance, which meant that he would need to find this Leaky Couldron place. He looked at the sleeping form of Harry, assumed that he would be waking in an hour, so he took that time to shower and find a nice suit for the day before they head out.
A/N: Hi everyone! Another update on this story. I would have continued this part but I decided to cut it short. But don’t worry, I’ll be posting the next chapter soon, and expect for it to be longer than this one. I would also like to say sorry because I hadn’t been able to post much earlier, I’ve got school works so…
rsroar1017: thank you, and expect to see more
Ninjettey: I would have made it like that but I got other plans. And for Elijah and Minnie getting along part, I’m not gonna spoil the surprise. And to answer your question about Elijah being a goblin friend… it’s honestly my actual plan, but I’ll see if I change it.
