Lion's Claws

2. Lion's claws

"Cassiopeia !" Cassiopeia turned her head, as they arrived at the gates after getting off the carriages that was carried by these invisible creatures called thestrals. Whoever the voice came from was not very hard to find. A fiery red hair came bouncing towards her, engulfing her in a hug. Cassiopeia stiffened but gave the girl a pat on her back, as she relaxed into her arms. "I missed you too, Lily." She said , chuckling at her friend's reaction. Lily finally let go, smiling at her.

They both started to walk towards the gates to enter Hogwarts, talking about their vacation as they do, Cassiopeia waving and smiling towards low voices calling her name. "Oh right, I saw that boy." Cassiopeia suddenly said. Lily looked confused, "Who?" She asked.

"That boy with the glasses and messy hair. I forgot his name, sorry."

"Oh, Potter. James Potter." Lily said, rolling her eyes, but Cassiopeia was not blind, she saw how the corners of her lips twitched into a small smile. She raised a brow, but she stopped herself from questioning it. She'll tell her eventually. "And the other too." Cassiopeia continued instead, snapping her fingers as she tried to remember his name, but only remembering 'Padfoot'. "Regulus's brother. The one with the long hair." She said then snapped her finger, "Sirius." She said, making Lily groan. Cassiopeia laughed at her reaction. As they walked Cassiopeia told her about their encounter in the train. From his attempts of hitting on her, and her playing along.

"NO YOU DID NOT!" Lily gasped. "Shh!" Cassiopeia hushed, covering her mouth, looking around, only to find that everyone had their heads to them. But for what reason, well, everyone had always had their heads turned towards them. Lily was convinced it was all because of Cassiopeia . But Cassiopeia was certain an equal amount of men swooned over Lily as they did with her.

"No shouting now, we don't want to embarrass ourselves." She said, taking her hand off Lily's mouth. "I can't believe you did that?" She hissed. But Cassiopeia only shrugged. "Relax, I did that, strongly believing that I won't see him again. At least in a manner where I'm not obliged to see him. Hogwarts is large, and I don't even have Gryffindor with my schedule." Cassiopeia said. "He's James's friend Cassiopeia ." Lily pointed out. "And if I'm correct he'd been his friend since day one, the way I was to you, haven't even seen Black till at the train." She pointed out herself. "Look Lily, relax, I won't die because of it, okay, he's just a boy." She said finally reaching the great hall.

Little did she know, she was dead wrong.

James, Sirius, Remus and Peter had just finished setting up a trap for professor Binns. They were trying to see what would get the old ghost mad.

Just as they rested, all of them panting loudly as they laughed softly from running away. Chattering crowds suddenly came to view walking towards the boys. They fixed their posture, Sirius, combing back his hair as he looked towards the crowd, only to find that the girls were looking at him, giggling as he waved hello, smiling. "I still got-" Sirius's whisper cut short when he found at the end of the line was one girl he was trying to find for weeks. She was looking at him too, but had an eyebrow raised and an amused grin than the blush many girls had as they waved at him. He was caught off guard. He'd been trying to find her for weeks, and was getting rather pissed that he could not find her anywhere.

"We're both in Hogwarts! How can it be so hard to find this one girl!" He complained to the boys as he slicked his hair back rather harshly than he would usually do so. He tried looking at the Slytherin table, none. He tried asking around, no one seemed to know anyone by Cassiopeia .

But there she is, her back now turned against him, as she walked away. Sirius blindly smacked James's back, pointing at Cassiopeia .

"Ow! Blood-"

"That's her!"

"What?!"

"That's her, Cassiopeia !"

James, Remus and Peter looked at where Sirius was pointing at but only found a crowd of robes, no way to identify who. "Where?" They asked, craning their heads. Sirius clicked his tongue and started to jog. "There's no way I'm losing her." He said, pacing his jog.

"Cassiopeia !" He shouted, waving his outstretched hand. Girls looked back to see Sirius waving his hand, some of them stopped, but not the woman he was looking for. He reached the crowd, who were smiling at him, batting their eyes lashes at him. He stopped, trying to look through the girls to see if one of them would be Cassiopeia , but none. "Hello ladies." He said, giving them a quick bow and walking past them.

Suddenly, Sirius was pulled to a corner by the wrist. He felt himself release a small squeak. But it quickly disappeared as he stared at the gorgeous looking lady, staring back at his gray eyes. She was smiling bemusedly at him, "Padfoot." She whispered. There was a seductive smirk growing on Sirius's lips, "Cassiopeia ." He said, running his fingers through his hair.

"What is it?" Sirius went silent. He did not know how to answer, did not know what she meant. Cassiopeia seemed to notice this and rolled her eyes. "You called me, Black. What do you want?" She asks again. "Ah, right. I did." Sirius said, but could not think of anything else to say. He stared into her, looking down to her dark hazel eyes, only a sliver of light hitting her pupils, with where they hid.

Cassiopeia looked at him, waiting for him to speak, only to find that she was wasting time. So, annoyed, she rolled her eyes, "Well, I'm going to be late. '' Cassiopeia said, leaving him in the corner. "Oh right, me too!" Sirius replies, and walks along with her.

Cassiopeia left him like that for a while, but as she took the last turn, facing the door to her transfiguration class, she faced him with furrowed brows. "What are you up to?" Sirius shrugged, grinning. "Class." He replied shortly as he pointed at the door to the room. Cassiopeia squinted her eyes then scoffed. "I don't have any schedule with Gryffindor." She pointed but Sirius only inched closer to her, "Not anymore." He said, winking as he pointed at himself. He walked past Cassiopeia , towards the door.

He then turned back to her, opening the door for her. He bowed rather dramatically as he led his hands inwards. Cassiopeia rolled her eyes, but hid a grin as she walked past the Gryffindor boy.

As she sat down, Sirius sat immediately next to her. Professor McGonagall started immediately but kept on giving Sirius a confused look. Sirius, on the other hand, had been obviously staring at Cassiopeia for the rest of the class, his cheeks rested on the back of his hand, as he gave her a smile. Every now and again, Cassiopeia would hold Sirius in the head, and turn his head towards the table in the front. Sirius would snicker, but return to staring at her after a minute.

The girls were envious. They kept looking at Cassiopeia and Sirius, well more like glaring at Cassiopeia and ogling at Sirius. But Sirius did not seem to notice, he kept his eyes to Cassiopeia , with Cassiopeia feeling rather irritated at Sirius's antics, as it seemed to give her attention she did not want. "Eyes on me everybody, if none of you wants to fail your OWLs, I suggest you focus on the subject matter rather than your seatmate." Professor McGonagall stopped in front of Sirius, who was still busy looking at Cassiopeia with a wide smile. Cassiopeia stole a glance only to find that he had not noticed Professor McGonagall. She stepped onto his foot hard. "Ow! Merlin's Beard!" He screamed, but it was enough for him to notice the professor. He crumpled his face, but smiled immediately at her, "Afternoon, professor McGonagall." He said, rather too relaxed, smiling widely at her. "I believe this would be the second time for you to attend my class Mr. Black?" She asked him and Sirius proudly nodded. "I believe so, professor."

Professor McGonagall looked at him up and down, then turned to Cassiopeia . Cassiopeia gave a short nod and a smile. "Well then, I applaud you for your dedication to my class, however it will be more appreciated if you keep your eyes to the subject." She warned Sirius. Sirius scratched the back of his head, "Right..." He said, laughing lightly.

As Professor McGonagall left to continue the class, Sirius turned to Cassiopeia , "That hurt!" He hissed. Cassiopeia gave a smile, to which Sirius had found rather weirdly cute. It looked like a triangle. "Eyes on the subject, Black." She said, and Sirius responded in a most annoying yet endearing way Cassiopeia could ever find. "You're my subject." He said, resting his knuckles onto his cheeks again, that big smile back on his face.

The class ended quickly, thankfully on Cassiopeia 's part. She left immediately, trying to avoid the boy who decided to tail her.

For once, she was actually thankful for men who tried to get her attention. Quickly, she moved towards them, smiling as she waved and walked alongside them. She turned her back, only to find Sirius swarmed with his own crowd of girls, trying to get his attention. And with that, Cassiopeia had escaped from the claws of the Lion
