CHAPTER TWO

The first week of December and the last Hogsmeade trip was that Saturday afternoon. Andrea couldn't be happier to get a whole afternoon looking through the shops, maybe even buying some sweets if she got time.

Going to Hogsmeade with her friends was a highlight of the term and she was thankful she managed to forge Gina's signature, having some fun during her time at school - including going to Hogsmeade. It was just something Andrea thought she deserves.

Andrea stood outside of McGonagall's office ready to inform her head of house that she will be home for Christmas - Ron and Hermione had already told her after breakfast leaving Andrea the only one out of them having not done so.

"It's open." McGonagall says a second after Andrea knocks - inviting the third year inside her office.

"Hello, Miss Ward." McGonagall greets her as Andrea closes the door on her way in.

"I trust you're here to inform me of your hereabouts for the holidays?"

"I am." Andrea nods. "I'll be going home."

"Great. We'll be prank free until the new year." McGonagall jokes which was odd, Andrea had never heard her strict head of house joke before.

Sometimes Andrea had to mentally laugh remembering how sickly rich most of the purebloods were at her school. Every year during Christmas they would on purpose talk loudly about the stuff they had wished for and the second term starts up again all you could hear them talk about for at least a week was how expensive their gifts were.

Andrea felt thankful she had normal and down-to-earth friends, even if Harry lived the most comfortable life out of them - his godfather Sirius Black being so rich it was almost sickening.

"I can't wait for fourth year when we get to attend the Christmas ball." Claudia sighs happily.

Claudia is a Ravenclaw Andrea had gotten to know over the years and had become a very good friend - she's a half-blood, her mother was a witch and her father was a normal muggle from Japan.

The Christmas ball - or the Yule ball as it is also famously known as is the ball every student at Hogwarts got to attend once they are in their fourth year, it's a highly awaited ball and was known to either make or break relationships between students, both romantically and friendly.

Claudia had been talking about the ball since first year, she loves watching the older girls get ready in their dorms and she loves looking at the older boys in tuxitoes - boys in a tux was just something else.

Andrea didn't always understand Claudia's obsession with the ball, but she too wondered how it was like to dress up for a night, to actually look your best for once.

"And I know you can't wait to get asked out by one of the boys." Andrea says smirking.

Claudia wasn't only smart and pretty, but fairly popular in their year and Andrea knew about a few boys having crushes on her friends.

"I think I should go solo next year, so everyone can have me!" Claudia laughs making Andrea roll her eyes playfully before looking down on her potions book.

"And what might be so funny that you aren't paying attention Miss Nakumara?" The voice of Severus Snape - their potions professor with greasy hair that always seemed to be in a bad mood was heard next to Andrea.

"Uh nothing Professor. I was just asking which page we were on?" Claudia coughs making Andrea hold back a laugh, Claudia wasn't exactly the best liar in the world.

"And that you find funny?" Snape asks raising his brow.

     "No sir." Claudia replies.

"Five points from Ravenclaw, I expect better from a Ravenclaw student like yourself."
