Chapter 6

“What do you know?” Snape asked when they had settled in his office. The room was dark and lined with shelves of books. The desk in the corner of the room was made of a wood so dark, it almost looked black, which matched the chairs and their dark green upholstery. The dour professor was sitting at the desk in a well stuffed chair, sipping on tea that a house elf brought the pair of them.

“I went to Gringotts and got an inheritance test, you’re my father, right?” at that snape sagged in his chair looking like his dog died.

“Sort of. You see, when your mother and father had you, we were in the middle of a war. There needed to be some sort of security to ensure that if one of us died, you would be taken care of. Lilly and I got into a fight in fifth year, and eventually we made up. I was one of her best friends, and she wanted me to be a godfather. James chose Sirius black to be your other godfather. Instead of becoming your godfathers though, we decided that you would be safer with more blood parents. A godparrent’s guardianship can be contested rather easily, whereas a parental bond is much more difficult to break." Snape took a sip of his tea.

“So, what I’m getting here, is that you and Sirius are biologically my parents, originally chosen so you could protect me, and I still ended up with the Dursleys?” Harry was approaching ‘ticked off’ really fast.

“Your mother and father died, they couldn’t take you, obviously, and Sirius was sent to Azkaban, without trial I might add, and I was a death eater. I spied for the dark, and Dumbledore found out. He sent you to them, and if I tried anything to get you away from there, Dumbledore would have used his influence to put me in that same hell hole.”

So many things were going on in Harry's mind right now. First of all, was the obvious anger at Dumbledore for making his life a living hell for so long. He knew the man had sent him to live with his asshat relatives, but he hadn’t known that he had more family that could have taken him in. This fact seemed to not only rekindle his burning anger towards the headmaster, but to also turn it into a raging inferno.

Second, he had people now. He won’t have to go back to the dursleys, which wasn’t really a problem anymore, but he could legally live with other people now.

Third, his new father figure was on the dark side, which was the side that tried to kill him. He had no idea how that worked, but he would be getting more answers about that soon. First he had to know, “what did you mean about the blocks then?”

“Blood adoption gives you the genes of the new parents, in this case me and sirius. I am a vampire, and that was taken into your genes too. When your parents found out they put a block on it to make sure you didn’t hurt yourself or others. You were a baby, you wouldn’t have been able to control all the power and strength that comes with a creature.”

Harry nodds, “makes sense, only I had other blocks as well. My magical core was at a 50ish percent block.”
Severus paled at that news, and harry was starting to get a little worried about him. It surely couldn’t be good for someone to get that pale so quickly, even a vampire. “It had to have been albus. He was the one to put you with those people, he had all the access. To block a core though, it's one of the most unforgivable things to do to a child.”

“Hey, its gone now. The goblins took all the blocks off, so I’m good.”

“Harry, without your blocks, you’ll be far more powerful than expected to whoever put them on you. Not to mention the creature blocks, which in their absence will make you stronger and such as you get older.”

“So, I’ll downplay my power, I’ll get good at glamours, and I’ll be a sneaky slytherin. Easy peasy.” he said with a cheeky grin. Severus just huffed and shook his head.

“You are so much like your mother. She was just as mischievous as your father and his friends, only she was far more slytherin about it. None of the teachers ever caught her, she had the perfect innocent face.”

“We still have lots to talk about, but I’m knackered. I’ll see you tomorrow, sir.”

“Good night harry.” Severus said back, only after the door had closed. He sat there for hours trying to convince himself that leaving harry with those despicable muggles was better for him. That albus would have found out, meaning that harry would have nobody to look out for him at hogwarts. There was little that he could say to clear his conscience however, and he settled in to make the final batch of potions for the hospital wing.

“Tom” Harry hissed to his animagus friend.

“I heard.” He responded only to get cut off from harry.

“Why didn't you tell me all that then.” Harry’s parseltongue sounded sharp as daggers as he glared at the little garter snake.

“Well, it's not like they were friends or anything, so it's not like I could have known. And besides, I'm still only a part of my whole. You saw querell right? He has my main peice, I'm certain of it.” Tom said, trailing off to flick his tongue.

“Alright, so in the course of an evening we have uncovered a conspiracy on the headmaster to keep me with the dursleys, found your main soul piece, found one of my father's, and all we can do about it is basically nothing.” Harry was irritated. He came here to have fun. Instead he was blocked from chaos by meddling headmasters, dumb redheads, and now a grumpy father. He would never have any fun.

“Oh Harry, you are a slytherin. Just. Don't. Get. Caught.” And with that Tom slithered off to the chamber to set up his base of operations and talk to his pet basilisk.

When Harry finally looked up, the whole slytherin common room was silent and staring at him.
“Goodnight all?” But before he could make his escape, Draco pounced on him with rapid fire questions. This night would never end.
