Harry potter was an odd kid. That was the easiest way to explain his life.

He was a wizard, He was insane, He was…Awesome. Tom had always told him that magic could get him anything he wanted, which was true in a way. Tom never lied to Harry, only evaded answers. Of course, nobody else could see Tom, only Harry, but he was certainly real. They had always been together, ever since Tom killed his parents.

It had taken a few years to come together, for a while Harry thought that he was genuinely crazy. Sometimes he still does to a certain extent, but that has little relation to the fact he can see the spirit of Tom Riddle. At first Harry decided that if he was crazy, there would be no harm in talking to a rather kind apparition since he was bored and locked in his cupboard most of the time. Eventually though, Harry began to like Tom. He was funny in a way that he had never really heard before, his jokes bordering on macabre.

Their friendship had taken a small hit when Tom told Harry that he was his parent’s murderer. For a while Harry didn’t know what to think, he was just hurt that Tom hadn’t told him. After Harry got over his feelings of betrayal, Harry took a moment to listen to Tom and see things from his perspective. Harry reasoned that his parents were at war and actively fighting on the opposing side, and more, Tom had reasonable intel that Harry would one day be able to defeat him. In this logic, Harry was able to set the issue aside, and their friendship continued to grow.

But while Harry's relationship with Tom was cordial and friendly, his relationship with his relatives was taking on water. Ever since Harry showed up on the dursley’s doorstep, Harry had been disliked for his relation to the wizarding world, the magic he possessed, and to Lilly potter, formerly Evans. Over time the situation for Harry got worse, with the occasional missed meal becoming days without food and the brief slap becoming a harsh beating with a belt.

Tom helped Harry overcome the challenges met with starvation and neglect, teaching Harry how to use his magic to unlock doors and heal his injuries. Harry soon became a prodigy at wandless and wordless magic, simply using his will to make light in his dark cupboard or fix toys that his cousin had discarded. Of course, Tom taught Harry darker magic too, magic to defend and to hurt those that would hurt him. Harry used the rabbits in the yard to practice some of his more gruesome tricks. When he was finished with the resulting dead rabbit, Harry had his snake friends to feed the carcass to. Being able to speak to snakes came in handy when hiding the mutilated remains of rabbits, and even better for tormenting his cousin, dudley. Dudley had developed a fear of snakes since Harry left one in his bed in retaliation for the years of harry hunting that he had perpetuated.

The local knowledge that Harry was crazy and talked to voices in his head followed him to his school, where he was bullied. Of course the bullies paid for their torment, but it was short lived since Harry was quickly advanced through his classes. Harry was a genius in most things, but having little to do most days lent him a lot of time to read, practice magic, and learn all he could from Tom, who was a genius himself. Harry couldn’t wait for Hogwarts though, the stories Tom had told during long nights in the cupboard had created a beautiful picture of the castle and its many hidden secrets. It was a matter of a few days until Harry could collect his letter and leave his relatives home for good. Today was his cousin’s birthday, and Harry and Tom were both in the kitchen preparing for breakfast. Tom was in a phantom form leaning on the counter singing a silly song while Harry plated the last of the cooked bacon. Muffling a chuckle, Harry plated the food and took it to the table where Uncle Vernon and Dudley were entering.

“Good morning, Cousin. Happy Birthday!” Harry said with virve. He ignored the little flinch Dudley gave when Harry smiled his full teeth smile. Harry lost himself in his thoughts as the breakfast progressed, absently nodding as his aunt lectured him to obey for Mrs.Figg while they were away with Dudley for his birthday trip. They were going to be taking a little vacation to Aunt Marge’s house before the start of the new school year when Dudley would be going off to smeltings. Aunt Petunia had been nearly insufferable about her little boy leaving her for so long, while uncle Vernon had been praising his tyke for getting into such a prestigious school for his secondary education. He was pretty sure that the Dursleys had to ply the school with ‘donations’ to get their son accepted, with his grades being lower than the floor. Harry trailed off to work on the breakfast dishes, the dursley family ignoring him in favor of packing for their trip that afternoon.

“You know, you never did give your cousin a present for his birthday.” Tom said. Harry just hummed noncommittally. He really knew he shouldn’t rile his relatives up before they left, it would be much easier to make his escape without them beating on him before they left, but Tom's words were just fueling the fire of temptation that had been burning in his mind all morning.

In the quiet of his mind, Harry said to Tom, ‘I have a plan for my Dear cousin. Just wait and see.’ and with that, Harry drew on his magic. He had been working on this little gem for a while, it was a spell that would last for a long time, almost two years, and by the end of it, Dudley would look completely different. In a way, Harry supposed it was a gift, for surely his cousin would have eaten himself to an early grave. Now, with Harry's spell woven around him, Dudley would not be able to eat much before he threw up. In essence the spell was like a muggle surgery he had read about that would decrease the size of the stomach in order to help the patient not overeat, but Harry had adapted this spell to be a little tighter and a little more viscous in nature. Now Dudley would crave to eat the foods he wished, indeed his stomach was no smaller which did not lend to a decreased appetite, but over time with him eating very little, he would become more accustomed to normal sized portions. Poor dudley would be so hungry for a while, and he wouldn’t be able to eat, just like Harry hadn’t been able to for most of his life. At least the poor sod would reap some benefits of this curse.

With the curse set to take effect in a few days, Harry finished the dishes and went back to his cupboard and listened to the sounds of his relatives packing their bags. While they worked, Harry laid on his bed playing with light orbs. Yes, the next few days were going to be great.
___

Soon his aunt was unlocking his cupboard and telling him once again to not do anything stupid, that Mrs.Figg would be stopping by to check on him. Harry agreed and accepted a list of chores from his uncle, who scowled at him in passing. With a quiet slam of the door and a click of the bolt, the house was now dursley free. Harry watched from the window as the family left the driveway and disappeared into the distance in their new car.

Finally Harry breathed a sigh of relief and smiled a huge grin at Tom.

The next few days were a waiting game, and Harry was on edge. He was so excited for his wand, all the classes he would be taking, and all the new people he would get to meet and possibly mess with. Finally when it was a mere three days away from his birthday, Harry was sitting at the kitchen island eating a meal of eggs and toast when a rather large barn owl flew in the open window. Harry glanced at Tom with a raised eyebrow, “It's early.” he said in a perplexed tone.

“Well, I’ll just send the reply and then we can go.” Harry called out, already dashing to find paper and a pen.

“Harry, wait.” Tom said, “If not for me, you would never have known you were a wizard. It could backfire if you knew where to find Diagon Alley or didn’t ask for help to get supplies.” Tom cautioned.

Harry pouted, “Yah, but I don’t want to keep up that exhausting pretense. Plus, if I ask for help, I won’t be able to do all the poking around with a babysitter.” Tom shrugged, and watched as Harry tied his acceptance response to the owl and led it to the window.

“It still could backfire if Dumbledore found out.” to which Harry snorted.

“He could try all he likes, but you and I both know that he could never break my Occlumency shields. Besides, I’m just the lovable boy-who-lived. People would bend over backwards to help me if I were to tell them about certain headmasters and their schemes.

“Possibly” Tom said in response. Harry glared at the figure, and headed to the door. He had already pilfered some bills from his aunt’s wallet, and called a cab, which was sitting idle by the drive.

“Charring Cross Road, London. “ Harry said without preamble to the driver. The man nodded and started the car, making his way to the appointed address. Of course, harry still had to walk the street to the Leaky cauldron, but the muggle repelling charms would have gotten the driver lost. Harry was hopping out in short order, fleeing into the pub, and into the wonders of Diagon Alley in little more than an hour. Harry tried his best not to gawk, but ended up epically failing.

Tom coughed for his attention, Harry blushing at being caught acting like an uncouth gryffindor, “I believe gringotts is that way,” he said pointing his finger at the large building made of white stone. Harry rolled his eyes and marched to the steps of the bank. Tom’s training kicked in, and he bowed to the goblins guarding the front doors. He passed through the entrance and got in line for one of the tellers.

“Yes” said the bored sounding goblin

“Greetings, Master Goblin.” Harry bowed and continued, “May your gold ever flow.”

The goblin looked up to see Harry's bow, and his eyebrows rose a fraction at his continued traditional greeting. He bared his teeth in what Harry assumed was a parody of a smile, and said, “And may your Enemies taste your blade. What can I do for you today?”

“I have lost my key and have no way to prove my identity, I wish to take a blood test.” Harry said. This made the genial expression on the goblin’s face morph into a scowl.

“Very well, Griphook will show you to the back.” and Harry was dismissed. He knew that to claim he was the potter heir and not have a key would automatically raise suspicion, but this still seemed to irritate the goblins, if the scowl was anything to go by.

A somewhat shorter goblin with a fierce set of long eyebrows escorted Harry through a series of halls to a private room where there was a desk and chairs. The diminutive goblin gestured for Harry to sit.

“Three drops of blood, little wizard.” was all that was said as Harry was handed a knife. Harry obediently sliced his finger and dribbled three drops of blood onto the parchment. The cut healed itself and the blood on the knife disappeared as the blood faded into the parchment with a low glow of red. A few seconds later, letters began writing themselves on the paper.

“Well, not what I was expecting.'' Tom said, sounding pleased. The goblin behind the desk seemed to echo that sentiment as his eyebrows rose together. He called out in gobbledygook through the door. Soon, a knock on the door announced the entrance of an older looking goblin.

“This is the manager for the potter vaults, your family account manager, Ragnok. He will escort you to his office to discuss matters further, in more comfortable and private accommodations.” and with that the diminutive goblin left.

Harry followed after the new escort, thinking over all the ramifications of what the paper had contained. If he was reading the document right, he was lord of a few estates that were rather old and possibly wealthy. The slytherin name he knew from Tom's stories. As one of the founders of Hogwarts their ancient roots may mean there are some interesting trinkets in the vault. His musings were cut short as he rounded the door into a bigger and more lavish office. Harry sat in the seat across from Ragnok, waiting for him to speak as per the customs Tom had drilled into Harry over the years of lessons. After what felt like three minutes of extended silence, the goblin grinned in a snarl of pointed teeth and pulled out a sheet of parchment.

“As a young lord that has been found following a period of missing time, might I suggest a more comprehensive scan. This would find any tampering as well as possible inheritances that would be rather important to know of ahead of time.” Ragnok said in a rasping and growling voice reminiscent of his native tongue. Harry nodded and took the ceremonial dagger from the proffering hand. He once more slit his finger and allowed the blood to drop on the parchment. The cut sealed after seven drops instead of the previous three, and then the words began to flow anew.

Well, Nobody was expecting that. The goblin seemed to grow pale at the line about his core block, he instantly started calling out in rapid gobbledygook.

“Mr.Potter, Our healer will remove your blocks to your magic. If you wish, the blocks to your creature nature can be dissolved as well.” Ragnok looked up to harry.

For the first few seconds Harry felt like he was going to freak out, but he Occluded his worry and panic away so he could think clearly. He was definitely going to remove all the blocks to his magic and creature, leaving either blocked would only result in issues down the line. Besides, creature abilities could be really handy and lend a certain amount of power to his casting.

“I would appreciate that. Now, about the soul bond and my Horcrux, I have known about the issue for a while and have come to an accord with my bonded. Would it be possible to create a body for Tom to inhabit once more?” Harry asked. The goblin across the desk did well to hide his surprise at this news and instead looked at a few sheets of paper. The healer, garbed in flowing silver silk entered as Ragnok nodded his head.

“It is possible, but it could be rather dangerous. You would still retain remnants of the soul, and the other soul shards would have to be recalled for one. To leave the body without a majority of soul would only lead your mate to madness. As it is, he will still have you as a horcrux since your soul has, in a way, grown into the shard that belongs to him. But yes, It is possible and probably a very good idea." Harry looked at Tom who looked like a blank slate, and rather pale in his efforts to control his sudden emotion.

“I…My body would be nice, but I would have to leave you.” Tom felt uneasy as he admitted he would miss being with harry. Over the years their bond had grown, and to know that he would be unreachable in the walls of Hogwarts was unnerving to say the least.

“You can become an animagus and stay in the room of requirement or the chamber and the adjoining quarters. You could gather so much more information from slitherin’s library and the books left in the room of requirement, or even collect some of the shed scales from the basilisk in the chamber. You could start reaching out to your followers too, all while I'm in class. This would solve some problems and give us a new edge.” and Tom of course knew Harry was speaking sense. It was unlikely that he could stand being away from Harry while he stayed so close to Dumbledore, and to stay within Harry would hurt him in the long run. Besides, the loss of his other Horcruxes was a small price to pay to be able to have his body back. Finally Tom nodded in assent, and Harry turned to Ragnok to have his wishes known.

“Very well, young wizard. Follow Healer Oarspike to the cleansing chamber to have the bonds removed and the horcrux removed and recalled into a new body.” and with that Harry followed the slightly slimmer, silver gilded healer through the doors and into the bowels of the bank. They walked so long, eventually the fine smooth walls turned to stone and then became more cavelike as they continued. Finally they arrived at the end of a cave system that opened up to a perfectly circular chamber with a round pool in the center large enough to fit three large men abreast.

“First , my assistants will prepare the new body for habitation. While this is being done, I shall put you in a deep sleep to avoid the worst of the pain when we recall the souls to the new form. After the Horcrux has been removed, I will begin unraveling the binds to your magic and creature. When you wake up, you will probably feel slightly sore and disoriented, but you will be whole again. The binds will be left in a small amount so the reflux of magic and creature nature does not overwhelm you all at once, though they will dissolve slowly.” The healer lead Harry and the ghostly apparition of Tom to a separate chamber to disrobe while she informed them of the process. Harry simply nodded and got ready for the upcoming procedure.

“See you later tom” Harry said as he fell asleep on a smooth stone altar.

The process was a slow and arduous one for the healers, but for Harry, he felt like he went to sleep and woke up in a bed. He was a little confused as to how he got to the new glittering chambers, but that thought was quickly dashed when he realized he had a pair of arms wrapped around him. His eyes bolted open and landed on a slightly familiar figure.

“Tom?” Harry asked, surprised by the youthful appearance of his friend.

“Yes, Harry, it's me. Are you feeling well?” Harry scrunched his nose in thought. He was rather hungry, as well as sore, but that was nothing too bad.

“Could be worse. Drink?” Tom leaned over a little to grab a drink that was on the table beside Harry and held it to his lips for him to sip at.

“Well Mr.Potter, your core block and creature block are dissolving as we speak. Be careful casting magic when you start off, it may take a while to get used to the power influx that the blocks were holding back. Your vampiric nature will become more prominent soon, make sure to read up on some of the kinds of vampire inheritances. Also, you may want to see a healer for some remedial potions to help with your eyes and height, other than that you are in good health.” The healer said as she bustled in the room. Harry was glad that all this was able to be taken care of so quickly.

Harry began to stand and get dressed to meet with Ragnok again, hastily following the healer once more.
