Chapter 8
“I’m sorry, but did you say that Dumbledore has the Staff of The Tyrant ?” Harry asked, freneticly pacing.
“Yes I did, didn’t I. If we’re to recover the other artifacts, we’ll need to go after the Staff first of course.”
“Oh, of course, we’ll just have to break into Dumbledore ’s office !” Harry near-yelled.
“Well, there’s an easy way to solve that.” Sheogorath said, tilting himself to float upright.
“What would that be, Sheogorath?”
“Well, Mory-poo, we let Nocty get a stronger hold, by making some Nightingales! We have three perfect candidates with us already, and she does like her trios.”
“Trickster, you are well aware of how my oath functions. It must be taken as an act of free will-”
“Which is exactly why we have the perfect candidates! Shortstack over here is trying to survive the insane wannabe dictator, and those two carrot tops over there, according to Luna, are incorrigible pranksters and why wouldn’t they make a pact with a god to be better at it?”
Though no one in the Chamber bar Luna wanted to, they couldn’t help but agree with the Mad God. It took quite a while, but eventually, even Mora was convinced that it could only be a benefit for Harry to become a Nightingale as well, possessive as he was. It took even longer, but eventually, the twins and Harry were done swearing their Oaths to Nocturnal.
“Right, it’s ostentatiously late, and you four will need to rest up so you can scheme properly, Nighty-night!” Sheogorath stated, before sending a spell at them, causing them to fall unconscious, and in their beds.
When he woke the next morning, it wasn’t to the usual snores of his dormmates, but a cacophonous noise that seemed to be originating from the common room. Annoyed that he seemed incapable of avoiding drama and problems, he got ready for the day, while grumbling, and arrived in the common room at the same time as the portrait opening to reveal McGonagall.
“All lessons have been canceled for the day as we investigate the root cause of what made you incapable of exiting your common room. Do as you wish for the day, though it is recommended that you avoid entering the Tower until the end of the day.” She said before turning around and sweeping away.
As soon as she had left, everyone flooded out of the room, wondering what she was talking about. Harry waited until almost everyone else had left before going out himself, followed by the Weasley Twins. As soon as he stepped out of the archway he noticed something was very wrong.
All of the paintings were empty.
“Well. I’m pretty sure we might have fucked up ever so slightly.”
