Kim Namjoon and Fiery Facts
“Hey guys,” Namjoon said, tightly holding Jin’s hand as they entered the Slytherin hallway. Hoseok and Jungkook were sitting on the ground near a stone snake statue. They perked up when they saw them come, but Namjoon didn’t miss how both of them deflated at the sight of them holding hands.
“Hey,” Hoseok smiled, but it didn’t reach his eyes. “How was the dance?”
“Awesome,” Jin said quietly, and Namjoon nodded. “But, let’s get going. We need to see Yoongi.”
“Where’s Jimin?” Namjoon asked, and Hoseok looked uncomfortable.
“He’s uh, still upstairs.”
“What? Why?”
“He’s. . .”
“A bloody traitor,” Jungkook suddenly spoke up, anger in his face. “He’s probably snogging Taemin as we speak.”
“Taemin?” Jin asked, confused. “You mean, Solar’s group?”
“Yes, that prick. Jimin said he asked him out earlier this week, and because neither of us wanted to go with each other, he chose to go with him, without telling me.”
“Oh.”
“Oh.”
The hallway was quiet for a minute.
“Well. . . is he still coming?” Jin asked.
“Probably too busy!” Jungkook said, kicking a small stone at the wall. “He didn’t want to come anyway, you heard him. Too worried about the dance and that Ravenclaw boy. I bet we’re on our own.”
At that moment, two sixth year Slytherin boys ran down the hallway. They paused when they saw the four of them, a little confused.
“Uh, you guys need something?” One of them asked.
“Yeah, we’re looking for Park Jimin. He told us to meet him in his common room,” Jungkook said.
“Park? Oh yeah, uh, wait, you’re Jeon Jungkook, right? The Gryffindor seeker?”
“Yeah?”
“Dude!” The two guys fist-bumped each other. “We’ve got some beer and shit stashed in the common room, and we’re just going to go get it. We’re big fans, you’re like, so awesome at flying, we would love it if you had a pint with us.”
“What?” Jungkook said, a smile creeping on his face.
“Look we get it, you’re a Gryff, but like, come on. We all know the real enemy is that Puff twink chaser. He was the only one who ever stood a chance to our keeper, save his soul-” Both boys did a quick sign of the cross, as if Yoongi was dead. “But you? You have got to win the next game against Puff. We have so much money in bets.”
“I mean, I’ll try my best-” Jungkook laughed, moving his body so they wouldn’t see Hoseok next to him. “And, yeah, anytime you want to get a pint. Can you let us in though? It’s kinda cold out here.”
“Oh totally bro!”
The two Slytherin’s unlocked the snake door, and all six guys went inside. They grabbed their stolen alcohol, and said their goodbyes, reluctant to leave Jungkook behind. As soon as they shut the door behind them, Hoseok let out a massive sigh, and stepped more into the light.
“God, I thought they’d never leave. And Puff twink chaser? Really? That’s all they see me as? Stupid,” Namjoon chuckled at Hoseok, finding it hilarious the two boys didn’t recognize the man they were shit-talking.
The four moved throughout the common room, making their way towards the nearly out fire. Nothing was happening yet, and it was 5:58, so they had a little more time. Namjoon looked around, admiring the common room.
Even though he and Yoongi were best friends, he had never been here before. It was darker than he thought, the only light coming from candles above them. He supposed during the day the giant windows to the lake would give some light, but since the sun had already set, it was incredibly dark. The room was decorated with silvers and greens, letting Hoseok blend in with his robes. It was a rather stunning room, but Namjoon still preferred the more comfortable and practical Ravenclaw common room. Here, there was too much decoration, as if someone went heavy with prideful purchases and antique collectables.
A clanging from the door sounded, and all four stood up in front of the fire, protecting it. Jimin came quickly sprinting into the room, gasping for breath with a grin on his face.
“Guys! I made it!”
“Why?” Jungkook said, stepping closer, a mean look on his face. Namjoon glanced at Jin, and the look on the elder’s face said it all. This was not going to be good.
“What?” Jimin said, confusion on his face. “What do you mean why? To see Hyung?”
“Oh, so now you care about Hyung. I thought you’d have forgotten about him.”
“What?” Jimin laughed once, a confused look on his face. He was standing a little away from them, and the way Jungkook had separated the two groups made it clear there was a standoff happening. Jimin noticed it too, his body posture switching.
“You and Taemin upstairs. I thought you’d be too busy snogging him to realize what time it is,” Jungkook was pacing the floor, a wolf-like stare pinned on Jimin. Namjoon thought about interfering, but Jin put a hand on his shoulder, telling him to let it happen.
“I would not,” Jimin said, a little offended. “Yoongi is my Hyung too, and I miss him just as much as you.”
“Sure didn’t sound that way when we figured out his letter,” Jungkook hissed. “You didn’t want to be here in the first place. So why’d you show up?”
“I do want to be here, I love him like we all do. What’s gotten into you?”
“No, this isn’t about me,” Jungkook said. “You’re the one snogging the enemy.”
“The enemy?” Jimin said, angry. “Jungkook, Taemin is not the-”
“So you admit it? You’ve been kissing him on the side?”
“What does me kissing Taemin have to do with any of this?!”
“It means you’re a traitor!” Jungkook yelled, shocking the room. “Their group has done nothing but bully us, and we turn around for one minute, and you’re off smooching it up with them. I bet you want to be part of that group, don’t you?”
Jimin’s eyes were shiny, and his lips were trembling.
“No, I-”
“Jungkook, enough-” Namjoon stepped forward, but Jungkook wasn’t done.
“No! He deserves this! He deserves to feel like shit when he abandoned us! What if would’ve forgot, we would’ve been stuck out there if it wasn’t for those strangers! We would’ve missed our only chance to see our friend! He’s a lying traitor who’s been going behind our backs, for Merlin knows how long! I bet he’s the one spying and intercepting all the mail, fucking with us and attack-”
“JUNGKOOK!” Namjoon snapped, yelling. “Enough! It is one thing to accuse him of abandoning you, and another to claim he killed a student and attempted to off a teacher. Know your boundaries!”
Jungkook’s nose twitched, his upper lip trembling in anger. He shot Jimin a nasty look, and the little Slytherin choked back a sob. He wiped his already tear stained cheeks, before mumbling.
“D-do you all feel t-this way?”
No one responded. Namjoon wasn’t going to answer for the group, but in his heart, he felt that they all were in the same spot. Jungkook had gone too far, but he was right. Jimin abandoned them. He wasn’t a full traitor, but he did go behind their backs. He played with fate just for his own personal reasons, and almost didn’t make it to the meeting.
“H-hoseok Hyung?” Jimin muttered, looking at the Hufflepuff. Hoseok bit his lip.
“Jimin, you should go right now. We’ll. . . we’ll catch you up about the call tomorrow,” Hoseok said quietly. Jimin let out a quiet sob and ran from the room, the door slamming behind him.
“That was intense.” Said a voice behind them, and all four whipped around. Yoongi’s face was set in coals, a small grin on his face.
“Hyung!”
“Yoongi!”
“No way!”
Everyone greeted him, crowding around the fire.
“You’re okay!” Hoseok said, tears in his eyes. Whether it was from seeing Yoongi, or from Jimin, Namjoon didn’t know.
“Of course, why wouldn’t I be?” Yoongi said.
“Because you left us with no explanation you asshat!” Jin hissed.
“Missed you too, Hyung,” Yoongi replied calmly.
“Where have you been?” Namjoon asked.
“Just like I told you, with my parents. They called me home, and I figured with all the tension, something bad was going to happen if I didn’t. I never wanted to do it so suddenly, but I knew you guys wouldn’t let me if I told you in person. I even had to knock Tae out, and-wait, where is he?”
“Tae is at home right now,” Jungkook said. “His migraines and dreams got worse.”
“What?” Yoongi asked.
“You’ve missed a lot Hyung,” Hoseok said with sadness in his voice.
“When you left, literally the next morning the trespasser obliterated a Hufflepuff girl’s mind. No one saw it happen, and the Ministry noted it, but no one acted. Taehyung started getting weirdly prophetic dreams, but we didn’t believe him. JK and Joon got into a fist fight over your honor because everyone started thinking you did it, and fled the scene. Then a Hufflepuff Head Boy turned up dead, and soon every auror on the planet was stationed here. I talked to my brother, and he said the Ministry saw you with your parents at Jameson and Lee’s funeral. Then, my brother and I blew up in a massive fight, and I thought he was hypnotized because he wasn’t acting like himself. The next night, he literally gets poisoned, in front of everyone. Jungkook saved his life, Taehyung’s nightmare dreams kicked back in, but worse. One night, Taehyung was sleeping in Namjoon’s room and he had the worst dream of all. He woke up hysterical and they took him to the Headmistress, but they were stopped by an elf who apparated them there, because it ‘wasn’t safe’. Turns out someone tried to kill Seok Jung in the hospital wing. They sent Tae and me home for a bit. The Ministry refused to shut the school down, even though clearly a killer is on the loose.”
“What house elf?” Yoongi interrupted.
“Teeth.”
“Oh, that weird bitch.”
“Yeah, but here’s where it gets weird. We get the letter from you, but we can’t solve it. We had a bad run in with your old friend Solar, and that same night, someone broke into the Hufflepuff common room. They destroyed everything. They clearly were looking for something, and thankfully no one was hurt. Jimin and Hoseok almost got caught in there, but Teeth apparated them out. They somehow got in a major fight with her and she claims she’s done helping us. We managed to decode the letter just in time. Now we’re here.”
Jin was a little short of breath after saying all of that, and Namjoon lightly rubbed his back.
“So now, we don’t know what to do,” Namjoon said. “We feel like we’re just waiting for the next attack. We have no clues.”
“Well,” Yoongi said. “You’re not the only ones with shit happening around them. Things aren’t any better outside of Hogwarts.”
“What do you mean?” Jungkook asked.
“Death Eaters. They’re reorganizing. It’s no secret my parents are notorious funders of the group, and lets just say my family home has been incredibly busy these past few weeks. They’ve been using the funeral as a cover up, but they’re planning something big. They’ve tried to indoctrinate me into the group, but they don’t trust me yet. They won’t share plans. All I know is something big happened with that Daily Prophet reporter who died. It wasn’t an accident, he was killed.”
“Reporter?”
“Yes, the one who went to Azkaban and took those pictures. He was murdered sometime after Jameson and Lee escaped. Poison.”
“Who do you think did it?” Namjoon asked.
“Whoever killed Jameson and Lee. It was the same poison, but I’m just guessing. I think the reporter was Taehyung’s roommate’s brother. Is he at school? Can you talk to him?”
“No,” Hoseok replied. “Marcus never came back from family leave.”
“Not good,” Yoongi muttered. “Then it was definitely a murder. You guys have to be careful. I’m assuming by how much activity is happening here at Min Manor, that there’s something big on the horizon. The next death might be the end. I don’t know when they’ll strike, and I won’t have time to warn you when they do. I think the best plan of action is to get that elf back on your side.”
“Teeth?” Hoseok said with a bit of disgust in his tone.
“Yes. Like it or not, she was your best ally in the castle. She knew what was happening, and she was protecting you from it. The least you can do is try to talk to her and figure out what she knows. Besides that, I think you need to focus on what it is the killer is after. Then you can figure out who he is.”
“I. . . I think I know who they’re after,” Namjoon said.
“What?”
“Since when?”
Everyone started talking and Namjoon hushed them. He looked around the common room to make sure they were alone.
“I think they’re after Taehyung.”
“Namjoon, what?” Jin asked. “He would be dead by now if they were.”
“No, I don’t think they want him dead. They want him alive. That’s why Hufflepuff is being targeted. Taehyung has always had that weird ability to find things. I’m certain one of us, or he, wrote about it in a letter. Teeth said the mail is compromised, and I think the killer is reading it. Tae’s dreams, what have they been about recently?”
“That painting, in the castle, the one with Death,” Jungkook replied. “He wouldn’t stop talking about the Deathly Hallows whenever he woke up.”
“I’m certain Tae mentioned the Deathly Hallows in his letters home to his little siblings. If the murderer read the letters and knew Taehyung could find stuff, and knew about the Hallows, then the killer would assume he found the Resurrection Stone.”
“You think the killer is after the Resurrection Stone?” Yoongi asked.
“Think about it. Taehyung is obsessed with that painting. His dreams focus on nothing else. It can’t be the Elder wand, because that was broken and destroyed by Harry Potter. The Cloak of Invisibility also belongs to him, and it’s no secret that he has it. The only thing missing is the Resurrection Stone, which rumor has it is still here, somewhere in Hogwarts.”
“So someone wants the Resurrection Stone, and because Taehyung can find anything, and started getting obsessed over the Deathly Hallows, you think the murderer will believe he has it,” Jungkook said, hand on his temples.
“The Stone lets you see your dead loved ones, right? But it also makes you go mad, just like the story. The killer probably read Taehyung’s deranged retellings of his dreams, and assumed he found it. The only reason the killings have stopped is because Taehyung isn’t here. He got sent home. No point in killing anyone while he’s gone.” Namjoon looked at Yoongi who nodded his fiery head.
“And they broke into Hufflepuff's common room to look for the stone. But they didn’t find it because Taehyung never actually found it. The second he gets back, he’s going to be attacked,” Yoongi said quietly.
“Exactly.”
Everyone was silent for a moment.
“Why would they want the Resurrection Stone?” Jin asked quietly.
“That’s easy,” Yoongi said. “Direction.”
“Direction?”
“Yes. Leadership. The Death Eaters are in a power grab right now. No one can lead them like Voldemort used to. My bet, a Death Eater or at least a sympathizer is on the loose in the castle. They probably plan to find the stone and use it to contact the Dark Lord. It’d be their last way to contact him.”
“So. . . what do we do?” Jungkook asked.
“We find it. First. We can’t let the murderer get it before we do. And when Tae gets back, we have to protect him like our lives depend on it,” Hoseok said. Yoongi nodded in agreement.
“We have no choice,” Namjoon said. “We either get that stone, or all hell breaks loose.”
