Hogwarts : The Bangtan Episode
Summary
Jungkook is a first year at Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry. Haunted by ghosts of his past, he struggles to meet friends and fit in until a ray of sunshine Slytherin, and a Hufflepuff with infinite hair colors step in. Throw in a genius (but people-stupid) Ravenclaw, a terrifying and maybe evil Slytherin who just wants to sleep, a Hufflepuff who is all fun and games until he tries to hurt you on the quidditch field, and a Prefect who's face lives up to it's name, and you've got yourself Jungkook's new life.I wonder what would happen if bad people started lurking and doing bad things around our beloved ragtag social project.Their ages are totally not accurate to book ages, so just make them older teens in your head.

Min Yoongi and Dastardly Duels

“Faster, and hold your hand higher when you cast the spell,” Professor Kim said, fixing a Gryffindor girl’s hand placement. She was aiming across the classroom at her friend, practicing basic dueling moves. Sighing, Yoongi slouched against the walls.

Defense against the dark arts was by far his favorite class, but today was the worst. Slytherin had to learn alongside the Gryffindors, which in Yoongi’s opinion, were the worst. Most of his house agreed, but since when have the two houses actually got along?

They were too confident and aggressive, Yoongi thought. Everyone he would duel today would be predictable, easy. They had no thought behind their attacks, which proved boring. To prove his point the two girls both cast Impedimenta and stunned each other.

Was Impedimenta a bad spell? No, not at all.

But it was too simple.

Laughable, really.

Yoongi figured he could hand wands to muggles and get a more interesting duel.

Professor Kim seemed to agree, for he shooed the girls from the center of the room with a look of distaste on his face.

“They were too slow, so they would have died,” Was all he said, writing some things on his clipboard.

Yoongi liked Professor Kim. Sure, he had been a rather annoying seventh year when Yoongi was a first year, but now? Now he was decent. He kept classes short and simple, while also adding a layer of realism Yoongi liked. He felt like he had actually improved on something in this room over the past few months, which was more than he could say for all his other classes combined.

Impedimenta is a good spell, but I’d like to see something else.”

A tall Slytherin and his Gryffindor partner walked into the middle of the room. All the other students murmured around them, not often did the two houses mix. Yoongi narrowed his eyes, taking in the opponents. The boy was from his house, and Yoongi thought his name was James, but he wasn’t really sure. The Gryffindor’s name was Yong-sun, or Solar. Yoongi only knew her name because she was a Gryffindor Prefect (as much as Jin would complain, Yoongi did come to at least one Prefect meeting.)

“John and Solar, begin when ready,” Professor Kim hummed in monotone, uncaring at the odd pairing.

Josh and Solar both stood in their ready stances, pausing a minute before starting. Yoongi knew the second the first spell was cast who would win. Solar. By far. The way she flourished her wand, her torso movement, the speed. She wasn’t great, but she made Jordan look pathetic.

They both started with a simple disarm and stun spell, but they rebounded giving them chances for combination spells. Unfortunately for the Slytherin, Solar was quick with a counter stun, making him duck. They started moving around the room, dodging spells and counters while the students started cheering them on.

“Come on SOLAR! GET HIM!”

“John, what IN THE NAME OF MERLIN ARE YOU DOING?! HIT HER!”

“Solar, you’re doing great!”

“JOHN YOU PATHETIC WORM, MY GRANDMUM CAN STUN BETTER THAN YOU AND SHE’S DEAD!”

“You’ve got this Solar! You’re looking great!”

“JOHNATHAN MOVE YOUR SORRY ARSE AND HIT HER BEFORE I CURSE YOU AND DO IT MYSELF!”

“Oh please!” Jorge yelled back. “You couldn’t do better!”

Right as he said this, Solar nailed him in the shoulder with a stun. He hissed in pain, now blocking with one arm. His friends howled at him, the volume in the room far too loud for a Wednesday late afternoon class.

“I said I wanted something other than Impedimenta, but I guess no one knows how to listen,” Professor Kim said dryly, rolling his eyes from his makeshift desk.

Solar may be a Gryffindor, and therefore stupid as they come, but she did know how to listen. She sent the first spell that came to her mind, nailing Jeff with a tripping jinx that pushed him onto his face. When he collided with the group, a series of loud “OOH!”s and “AHH!”s rippled. Solar was immediately swarmed by her friends, congratulating her on her win.

Yoongi had to chuckle, the Slytherin’s friends didn’t even bother to help Jackson stand up (His name is Jackson, right? Or. . . maybe Joey? Yoongi couldn’t remember. Or care.) Jin actually was the one to help the Slytherin stand up, leading him to a desk so he could clean up the bloody nose he was nursing. Jin frowned, using his wand to quickly clear the blood and then snap his nose back into position. Finally, Jin made one of Jesse’s friends take him to the hospital wing, just to finish up.

When they left, Professor Kim was already moving on, looking for the next dueling pair. Yoongi watched as a foreign expression passed over Jin’s face, one that looked almost. . . resentful

“That was decent, but I need to see more powerful spells.” Professor Kim scribbled a small list on the chalkboard of spells he deemed good enough for his dueling classroom. It was certainly a list, and even Yoongi was surprised by the content.

“I’m sorry, but Reducto? Defodio? Deprimo? What do you want us to do, blow a hole in the castle wall or each other’s heads?!” Jin commented, making everyone fall silent. Seok Jung turned and stared at Jin, surprise on his face like he forgot Jin was even in his class.

“They’re effective in dueling, which is what I’m teaching.”

“No, you’re teaching us auror fighting techniques. This-” Jin pointed at the chalkboard. “-Is madness. We are fifth years.

“The sooner you learn, the better.”

“Oh sure. I bet you wanted to write the cruciatus curse on there as well, just for fun, you know? Really get the heart racing? Bring you back to the good ‘ol days, doesn’t it?” Jin was starting to get heated, his face turning red. Professor Kim made no reaction, just a passive stare down.

“I won’t write that spell, but it’d-”

“I bet you just want everyone in this room to be the next great auror? Well guess what, we won’t! Not everyone is going to be hunting down dark wizards! This is supposed to be about dueling, not making the next Jeon Jung Hyun!”

The room grew deadly quiet, and all eyes turned towards the Professor. For the first time since Jin started yelling, Seok Jung showed emotion.

His eye twitched.

Just a little, but enough that everyone saw it. He had cracked. The impassive auror had cracked, and it was clear that Jin had hit home. Yoongi thought it was a little low to mention Seok Jung’s dead coworker, but it worked. Jin won.

“. . . That’s what I thought this was about,” Jin muttered, shaking his head. “Have fun with your death club Hyung. Have fun.” Jin turned and left the room, slamming the door on the way out. It was silent at first, around thirty pairs of eyes daring from the door to the stiff Professor who had yet to move. Soon the whispers started, and anxiety creeped in. Seok Jung grew pale, turning his head down, and gripping the edge of his desk like a lifeline. He wasn’t shaking, but Yoongi knew a panic attack when he saw one. Seok Jung was on the edge of something, and Yoongi wasn’t about to have him drown in front of everyone.

Standing up, he quickly went to the center of the room, spinning around.

“I’ll duel anyone who wants to.”

Thirty eyes turned towards him, blinking in confusion.

“. . . now?” Solar asked, stepping forward. “Is that appropriate? Jin brought up a good point-”

“Yes, now. We are in a class at the moment. Jin had an outburst, so screw him, he can be marked absent. Worry about the ethics and dropping this afterwards. Let’s duel, now.

Solar bit her lip, unsure what to do. Murmurs get louder, and eyes wavered from the Slytherin to the Professor, who had not moved.

“Come on! Someone!” Yoongi yelled over the voices, scaring a few. “Or what, some prick of a Gryffindor won’t fight? Too scared off from a Prefect’s outburst? Pathetic!” He spat.

His attempts seemed to be working, for a few Gryffindors now wore disgruntled looks.

“Watch it, Min!” Someone yelled.

“Watch what?! A bunch of idiotic fifth year delusionals who think they’re the shit when they can’t even man up to duel? I’d rather watch first years try to kill a dragon! At least someone would use their wand then!”

“Really? You think you’re the shit then?” Solar said, stepping forward. “You sit on your ass all class like a depressed bowtruckle, but all of a sudden now you’re interested in fighting us? You know what? I will fight you, just to prove you can’t have a superiority complex when you don’t do anything!” Solar’s friends tried to hold her back, but she shoved forward, getting into her ready stance.

Yoongi smirked, matching her. The students around them backed up, making way for the two who had now begun to circle each other.

“Pride filled big talkers, that’s all you Mins are,” Solar hissed, inching slowly around, matching Yoongi’s pace. “Think you’re the shit just because Mommy and Daddy are big names back in Korea? Well you’re not there, are you? Can’t rely on scary last names and criminal siblings to save you!”

Yoongi frowned, and Solar smirked. She thought she had reached a nerve, so she fired a stun. Yoongi blocked it with no problem, and returned his own stun, which hit her arm. She hissed, shaking off the pain. Her friends started cheering again, encouraging her to use other spells. Yoongi saw her eyes dart towards the chalkboard, and he cursed, jumping away as a massive explosion hit the wall behind him.

DEFODIO!” Solar yelled, cutting a nearby desk in half. She sent it’s pieces flying at Yoongi, who quickly muttered “Reducto!”. The table disintegrated, and Yoongi sent the dust flying back into her eyes. She cried out, blindly sending stuns in his direction.

The other students screamed in fear as stuns were thrown into the crowd. Yoongi lunged forward, doing his best to block all the spells Solar blindly cast. It was too much though, and she hit him in the leg. He was thrown backwards, colliding with a table that took his breath away.

“Fuck-” Solar cursed, finally wiping all the sand from her eyes. “Cheap trick Min!”

“Hitting other students isn’t much better Princess!” Yoongi taunted, blocking a quick stun she sent in anger.

“You! Worthless! Antagonizing! Prick!” Solar yelled, sending destructive curse after curse. He blocked most of them, but a few slashes were wildly out of control, destroying the walls and furniture. Students had dove to take cover behind overturned desks, watching behind magical shields as the two fought.

DEPRIMO!” Solar screamed, and Yoongi launched a last minute shielding spell, encasing her spell and taking the brunt of its explosive power. It would’ve blown a hole in the floor, but luckily it fizzled out. Shrieking in anger, Solar lost all composure and skill, blindly throwing jinxes and curses, one after another. Yoongi blocked and blocked, flashes of bright light filling the room. He had a mild thought of wonder, how had no teachers come to stop this? Surely, this was far out of control, but no one came to investigate?

His arms grew tired from the rapid movements, and he knew he wouldn’t last much longer. In a last ditch attempt, he yelled “Flipendo!” and nailed Solar in the chest. She flew backwards, hitting a desk hard, and stumbling. Yoongi took the chance to point his wand at her head, claiming it was over loudly.

The other student’s eyes slowly peaked out from behind their shields, gasping at Yoongi.

He won?” Someone whispered.

“That was scary.”

“Kinda cool, but yeah-”

“He was so good at blocks,”

“But did you see her attacks?”

“No one is that good, he barely did anything-”

“No wonder, I heard his brother dueled well too.”

“His brother? The death eater?”

“He wasn’t a death eater-”

“No, I heard all the Mins are,”

“Makes sense that he’s so good-”

“But he took her out with a first year spell.”

“Embarrassing for her.”

“Poor Solar-”

Yoongi shifted uneasily, not sure what to do. His plan to take away the attention had worked, but at what cost? This was exactly why he stayed in the shadows, he didn’t need these rumors and gossips towards him-

“CRUCI-” Solar started yelling, but was cut off with a quick snap. Her wand was thrown across the room, and she drew her hand back in like it had been burnt. Yoongi hadn’t even seen it, but she had managed to stand while he was distracted. She was going to curse him while he wasn’t looking, but someone had cast a spell and stopped her.

Turning around, Yoongi stared at his hero.

Professor Kim stood there, fury on his face. He marched over to Solar, grabbing her by her arm and wrenching her up.

“THE TORTURE CURSE? WHILE HIS BACK WAS TO YOU? HAVE YOU NO SHAME? INSUFFERABLE LITTLE PRICK, THAT IS UNACCEPTABLE, EVEN IN A REAL FIGHT!”

Solar’s face drained of color, and she moved like putty as he dragged her to the door.

“IMMEDIATELY TO THE HEADMISTRESS! IF I HAVE ANY SAY YOU’LL BE EXPELLED AT ONCE! NEVER HAVE I SEEN SUCH COWARDLY ACTIONS, EVEN FROM THE WRETCHES OF AZKABAN! CLASS DISMISSED, GET OUT!”

He dragged her from the room, and chaos erupted. Students clambered to the door, streaming out quickly to escape the bipolar Professor’s room, in case he returned. Yoongi stood alone, weakly holding his wand. He stood still for a long time, until everyone had left the classroom, and the sun had set outside. He transformed partway through, turning into his animagus cat form, so he could think it through.

Seok Jung saved him.

Seok Jung yelled.

Seok Jung had cracked.

His classmates brought up Junki’s criminal charges.

He was seen as only a scheming Min.

The white cat curled up in a ball by his bag, trying to fall asleep. He was too drained to go to his common room and face the questions of his housemates. It would be easier to sleep here. After an hour, he heard far off voices, and awoke to a face looking down at him.

“Hey little guy, what are you doing here? This isn’t safe, this room needs to be reconstructed.” The Hufflepuff Prefect scooped him up, carrying him from the room. “I’ve seen you around, you know? You look like a little ghost, so white, so quiet. All over the place too. And fast. You must be tired, no? Come on, you can sleep with me in the Hufflepuff common room.”

The boy carried the cat into the cozy, dark common room decorated with leaves and warm yellows. He slowly and gently made his way up some stairs, and into a dorm where he laid the cat onto soft sheets. A few minutes later, the boy slipped into the bed too, pulling the tired and sore cat into his side to sleep. The cat wasn't sure why he was allowing this, it was against everything he thought right. But maybe. . . maybe sleep would be nice.

“It’s okay little ghost, you can rest here. No need to worry, just relax. You’re safe with me,” said Hoseok, turning the lights off and sleeping.
