Hogwarts : The Bangtan Episode
Summary
Jungkook is a first year at Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry. Haunted by ghosts of his past, he struggles to meet friends and fit in until a ray of sunshine Slytherin, and a Hufflepuff with infinite hair colors step in. Throw in a genius (but people-stupid) Ravenclaw, a terrifying and maybe evil Slytherin who just wants to sleep, a Hufflepuff who is all fun and games until he tries to hurt you on the quidditch field, and a Prefect who's face lives up to it's name, and you've got yourself Jungkook's new life.I wonder what would happen if bad people started lurking and doing bad things around our beloved ragtag social project.Their ages are totally not accurate to book ages, so just make them older teens in your head.

Kim Namjoon and Furry Friendships

Snow had finally started falling at Hogwarts, bringing chilly weather and midterm studying. Namjoon wasn’t too bothered by it though, he had a solid study schedule and he felt prepared. He also was happier too, friends were nice to have.

Speaking of his friends, Namjoon picked up his pace, walking quicker to breakfast. Today was the first day back from their ‘Thanksgiving Break’, and Namjoon had lots to tell Yoongi. He hadn’t seen him in around a week, and so much had happened at Namjoon’s house that he just had to tell someone who understood.

Entering the Great Hall, Namjoon scanned the tables and realized he didn’t see Yoongi anywhere. Settling for the next best option, he made his way towards Taehyung, Jimin, and Jungkook, who were all sitting at the Hufflepuff table. Oddly enough, Hoseok was there too, and Namjoon waved good morning to everyone.

“Hey guys,” Namjoon said, sliding into his seat next to Jimin.

“Hey Joon!”

“How was the break?”

“Excited for classes?”

Namjoon chuckled, grabbing a pastry from the center of the table.

“Break was. . . eventful. I’m happy to be back, Hogwarts is much better than my house.”

“Whaaaa? A longstanding Pureblood household isn’t a joy to be around? I never would've guessed!” Jimin gasped, sarcasm dripping from his voice.

“Oh shut up, you’re in the same situation,” Namjoon chuckled.

“Yeah, but my parents didn’t force me to come home.”

“No, instead Jimin chose to stink bomb an entire floor over break,” Hoseok added, and Jimin blushed. “He won’t be getting sent home, but a letter will be.”

“Come on Hobi! You wouldn’t!” Jimin pouted, and Hoseok smiled his signature heart shaped grin.

“No, you’re right. I wouldn’t.” Jimin punched the air in victory. “But Jin would.”

“NOOO!” Jimin cried, slouching in his seat. Taehyung patted his back, turning back to the freshly delivered Daily Prophet. “Jin Hyung totally will! I’ll be in so much trouble over Christmas-”

“Jin Hyung?” Namjoon asked, and Taehyung nodded.

“We missed out. They got some nice quality time with Hoseok and Jin over break.”

“Yeah, they’re pretty cool.” Jungkook nodded frantically. “We all went to Hogsmeade together, and Hoseok Hyung even took me for flying practice. The four of us had a great time.”

Four of you?”

“Well yeah. Me, Jiminie, Hoseok, and Jin. You and Tae were gone.”

Namjoon nodded, frowning internally. He thought Yoongi stayed at Hogwarts over break, and he wouldn’t have hung out with anyone else. So. . . where was he?

“Guys, look at this!” Taehyung said, pointing at the front page of the Prophet. “They caught one of those escaped prisoners!”

“What?” Namjoon asked, leaning in close to see. Sure enough, there was a moving picture of an unconscious wizard being wrapped in chains. He looks ragged and pale, sickly even. No doubt a cause of Azkaban, but Namjoon would’ve thought the guy would have been healthier looking since he was free for a week.

Roy Jameson was found this morning in Eastern Portsmouth. His fellow escapee Manson Lee was not with him, and he claimed to have no idea of Lee’s whereabouts. He’ll be receiving a court trial tonight, along with a thorough interrogation on his partner’s location. No aurors were injured in his capture, and he did not resist arrest.” Taehyung set the paper down, looking around the table at the shocked faces.

“He didn’t resist arrest?” Jungkook asked incredulously. “Isn’t he an ex-death eater? He worked for you-know-who directly.”

“Maybe he turned over a new leaf,” Hoseok shrugged.

“What would leaves have to do with a death eater Hoseok?” Jimin said, eyeing the Hufflepuff.

“Yeah, this is serious. No time to be making jokes,” Namjoon nodded, taking the paper from Taehyung and rereading it for himself. Namjoon saw Hoseok roll his eyes and turn back to his food, but now wasn’t the moment to be focusing on silly herbology jokes. Roy Jameson was serious news. Namjoon had never met him, but his parents knew of him. They used to tell Namjoon stories of these death eaters, ones who they thought could come back and haunt their family. After the Dark Lord fell from power twice, Namjoon’s family re-entered society. They had always feared his return, and when he did, they fled to South Korea. Now that he was dead, they finally came back to London, but the fear never left. Too many death eaters knew their Kim line, and they simply could not risk running into old faces (Namjoon’s grandfather had originally sided with the Dark Lord when he first rose to power, but tried to leave the organization when things became too big. He managed to escape with his only son, but plenty of wrong-doers still know the name of the first deserters of the Dark Lord’s army.)

Another thought crossed his mind. Manson Lee was still out there. Yoongi would want to hear about that. Or maybe he already knew, he was always looking for news of his older brother’s friends.

Namjoon’s face must have been dark looking, for Jimin gently elbowed him as everyone else talked amongst themselves.

“Are you okay? You look a little pale.”

“I’m fine. It’s just. . . it kinda hits home for me. My parents used to tell me stories about these guys. They’re not too pretty.”

“I couldn't imagine life sentences in Azkaban could be pretty,” Jimin hummed. “Maybe reading about it will only make you worry.”

“No, I’ll be more worried to not know what’s happening.”

“I get it,” Jimin responded. “Try to focus on school though. Focus on us, Quidditch, food, really anything else. How’s Yoongi been? We were wondering if he was coming back today?”

“What?”

“Yoongi? He went home for the break, right?”

“No, he never goes home. He hates his parents.”

“Uh,” Jimin looked at Hoseok, who was now listening. “Well, he wasn’t with us.”

“Jin said he saw him in DADA the day before break, but Jin left that class early,” Hoseok said.

“Left early?”

“Big fight with his brother. Gossip of the school, but supposedly Yoongi and Solar, that Gryffindor Prefect, got into a massive duel afterwards. Something happened, the room got destroyed, and Solar is being stripped of her title as Prefect. I haven’t seen Yoongi around, so I thought he went home after that big fight.” Hoseok ran his fingers in his hair, looking around the Great Hall like Yoongi was just going to show up.

“Taehyung, where is he?” Jimin asked, and Taehyung blinked.

“Well, I need a few minutes, but I’ll think on it.”

“What?” Namjoon asked.

“I’ll find him, just give me a few minutes.”

“We don’t have a few minutes,” Namjoon said, starting to fidget. This was bad, very, very bad.

“Why?” Jungkook asked, growing antsy with Namjoon's Infectious anxiety.

“Uh, this is a stretch, but. . . '' Namjoon groaned, he knew Yoongi wouldn’t want him to share. Yoongi never wanted Namjoon to share about him, but they could help. “That Lee guy, the one still missing, he was in kudos with Yoongi’s older brother Junki.”

“Min Junki? I’ve never heard of him,” Taehyung said.

“Yeah, all I know was he was a student here,” Hoseok replied.

“No, Junki is in Azkaban. Murder. The Min family paid lots of money to keep it silent. No one knows. But Manson Lee and Junki were a team.”

“I thought Manson was in Azkaban since You Know Who died?”

“No, he was let out halfway through for good behavior. That’s when he met Junki,” Namjoon muttered, keeping his voice low incase of listeners. “They clicked, and, well, they killed and did all sorts of evil things. Both were caught and got locked up. But if Lee is still out. . . I think he’d come after Yoongi.”

“Why?” Hoseok whispered.

“Yoongi helped put them in jail. He. . . he ratted them out.

The table fell silent, and Namjoon looked at his lap.

“We need to find Yoongi. I have a few places I could look, but he can’t be alone now that Lee is still on the loose.”

“I, uh, I can go get Jin. We’ll look in all the Prefect spaces.” Hoseok stood, immediately jogging off to find Jin.

“I have a class in ten minutes, but I can check all the common rooms as soon as I get out. Might be worth using those puking pastilles,” Jungkook joked solemnly. Taehyung asked to join him, and the two wandered off.

“Where will you look?” Jimin asked Namjoon, following him as they left the table.

“I have a few hallways and secret passages Yoongi often goes to think. If he isn’t there, and no one finds anything. . . I’m going to the Headmistress.”

They walked in silence for a few seconds, Jimin quietly soaking in the news.

“Hyung”

“What Jimin?”

“Who. . . who did Junki murder?”

Namjoon stopped walking, and pulled Jimin to the side of the hallway.

“Don’t ask such questions when his partner is walking free. You cannot risk becoming their target. Words are powerful, Jimin.”

“Hyung, please. I want to know.”

“Jimin I can’t-”

Please.”

“Jimin. I can’t tell you because I don’t know. Yoongi will not say. There is no Daily Prophet report, and no one knows of the incident in the first place. The secret lives with the Mins, and whomever they killed.”

“Surely someone must have heard something? No suspicious deaths?”

“Rumor had it that it was a child.”

“A kid? But why?”

“We barely know who it was, don’t think we have any clue on why. Please Jimin, be done. We need to find him first. Check the dungeons, kitchens, even the Astronomy Tower when you get the chance. We must find him.”

Jimin nodded, running off into the castle.

He had come a long way from the aggressive and scary Slytherin boy Namjoon had first met. He found that Jimin was only a little prickly on the outside, but a true flower inside. He was kind, gentle, understanding, and most of all, fun. He could be a bit extreme, and did possess the famous Slytherin pride, but he was an incredible person. Namjoon was glad they were friends. He may not be a Hufflepuff, but Jimin was honest and loyal, and Namjoon would trust him with his life.

He had noticed in the week before Thanksgiving, that Yoongi and Jimin were talking. Not forced either, but as mutual acquaintances. Namjoon had asked Yoongi about it. He figured Yoongi had given in to Jimin’s old flirting ways, but Yoongi assured him Jimin was far from his sight. Yoongi hadn’t gotten into the details, but he said Jimin was ‘whatever’ and ‘the most decent second year’ to befriend.

Namjoon had zero clue what that meant, but he was glad his two friends were getting along. In fact, Namjoon was incredibly glad Yoongi seemed to be getting along with everyone. He talked Slytherin things with Jimin, followed by teasing and rough-housing with Jungkook. Whenever he wasn’t with them, Namjoon found Yoongi with Taehyung (Namjoon would never say this aloud in case of WW3, but he thought Taehyung was Yoongi’s favorite maknae.)

Something about Taehyung’s quiet weirdness attracted Yoongi, and brought them together. Namjoon initially figured Yoongi just was attracted to Hufflepuff personalities, but he soon saw that Yoongi cared for Taehyung in a unique way, almost like a parent. He seemed to have taken the muggle boy under his wing, and if his parents ever knew that? Yoongi would never see the light of day again.

Maybe it was for that exact reason that they cared for each other. The forbidden mentor. Very heroic of Yoongi, Namjoon thought. But heroism doesn’t do any good when the hero gets kidnapped.

Namjoon strode through the hall. He checked a few hallways, peaked into passageways, and even in closets, but Yoongi was not there. Frustrated, Namjoon found an empty room and transformed into his animagi owl. He flew outside, circling the castle and its grounds for ten minutes with no luck.

If Yoongi saw Namjoon’s owl, he would have come running. Namjoon never transforms without Yoongi.

Turning back into his human form, Namjoon heads towards the hospital wing. Maybe Yoongi was just sick. Maybe Namjoon was running out of options and ideas. Maybe. Maybe. Maybe.

On his way there, footsteps rang out from behind him.

“Namjoon! Namjoon stop!’ Taehyung called out. “Hufflepuff common room! He’s there!”

Immediately, Namjoon followed Taehyung, sprinting together. Namjoon had never been in the Hufflepuff common room, but he had no time to admire the entrance or the common room. He looked around only for a head of black hair attached to a pale, lanky fifth year.

“Where is he?” Namjoon asked frantically.

“I don’t know, I just know he’s here. We must-”

“How do you know?”

“The house elves, paintings, my senses.”

“Senses?”

“I just know, come on Namjoon! Start looking!” Taehyung called, leading Namjoon towards some of the dorms. Namjoon knew he wasn’t supposed to go there, but there were hardly any people since classes were going on. No one would see, and he had to find Yoongi. Sacrifices had to be made.

Namjoon covered his Ravenclaw Prefect badge in shame as he stepped in a first year room.

Clothes on the floor, a rat, some trash, no Yoongi.

Second year dorm : more trash, shoes, clothes, and lots of blankets.

Third year dorm : hair dye, clothes, butterflies, trash, and books.

By the time Namjoon reached the next door, he had grown hopeless. Taehyung was crazy. He had no real evidence Yoongi was here. There was no one here. Everyone was gone except the pets.

Pushing open the fourth year Hufflepuff dorm, Taehyung walked in first. Namjoon followed him, closing the door behind them.

“Tae, are you certain Yoongi is here?”

“I am! I’m sure! I just don’t know exactly where, it’s just a feeling. He’s here somewhere. Maybe we just need to ask for help.”

“Ask? From who? The walls? I don’t think so.” Namjoon collapsed on an empty bed, rubbing his eyes. He was so tired and scared of looking for Yoongi. It had only been the morning, but that was more than enough time for bad things to happen.

“Walls, no. We need something more responsive. More sentient. The elves and paintings didn’t know, so. . . maybe the animals?” Taehyung pointed at the painting of an owl on the wall.

“What? You want to go talk to the rat two doors down? Do whatever Taehyung. I need a moment.”

“No, of course not the rats. They’re unhelpful. Far too shifty and selfish. We need something that moves more, sees more. A gossipy animal.”

“Tae what in the name of bloody hell are you going on about?”

“Here, this cat could help! Hoseok calls you Ghost, but I know you’re really Jiminie’s Mr.Mittens. Have you seen Yoongi?” Taehyung held up a pure white cat, shaking it about.

Namjoon’s heart literally stopped beating for a second.

No fucking way.

“Uh, Namjoon Hyung, not to be the language police, but that wasn’t a very nice thing to say in front of the kitty.”

You asshole!” Namjoon hissed, sending a locking spell to the door. The door clicked shut, followed by all the windows slamming shut. “I was worried sick, and this is what I get?! You could have been dead, and you’re here hiding?!”

“Uh, w-what?” Taehyung stammered. Mr.Mittens growled and started writhing, jumping from Tae’s arms and hissing at Namjoon.

“No! You don’t get to say that! I had to go home! For Kyung MIn!”

Mr.Mittens hissed again, and Namjoon pulled out his wand.

“I’ve had it! You can’t keep running!” Namjoon pointed his wand at the cat, and Taehyung screamed as Mr.Mittens dove behind him for cover. Namjoon sent a fast spell, hitting the floor near Tae’s feet. Taehyung launched himself onto a bed, hysterical as Namjoon chased a cat around Hoseok’s dorm.

The cat dove under Taehyung’s bed, and Namjoon followed. The bed thumped as Namjoon’s head hit it, and all Taehyung could hear was Namjoon’s groan and the scratching of cat claws against the tile. Finally, a blast of light went off under the bed, followed by silence.

Namjoon slowly crawled out from under the bed, heaving in anger and magical exhaustion. That spell wasn’t easy, and he had missed three times.

He hated his best friend.

His best friend crawled out from under the bed, gasping for breath too as he laid next to Namjoon. Together they caught their breath, while Yoongi’s eyes adjusted. Taehyung peaked from his spot on the bed.

“HYUNG!” Launching himself, Taehyung body slammed into the Slytherin, WWE style.

“OOF!”

“I MISSED YOU!” Taehyung sobbed, tears flowing down his face.

“Tae, you didn’t know he was missing till this morn-”

“It doesn't matter! I thought you were gone!”

“Can’t get rid of me that easily,” Yoongi muttered, his voice raw and scratchy.

“I didn’t know you could apparate,” Taehyung muttered.

“What?”

“Apparition? You appeared, under the bed. Like the boogeyman.”

“Boogeyman? The fuck is that?”

“Language, please.”

“Tae, I didn’t apparate. I don’t know how.”

“Then how did-wait, Namjoon, did you kill Mr.Mittens?!

“No, Tae-” Namjoon sat up, pulling Taehyung off of Yoongi. “Tae, uh. . . I guess you should know. We uh, we’re. . . animagi.”

“Uh. . . is that. . . is that like gay, but for wizards? Cause, I already knew, but like thanks for officially telling me-”

“W-what? No, goodness. It’s animal magic. We can turn into animals, here-” Namjoon pulled a small tuft of white fur out of Yoongi’s hair. “This is all that’s left of Mr.Mittens right now.”

Taehyung held the white fur in his fingers.

“We can turn whenever we like, but we became animagi illegally, so we have to do it secretly. I’m Mr.Mittens. Namjoon is an owl.”

“That’s. . . “ Taehyung paused, thinking it through. “That’s not unbelievable. I thought you were going to say you were furries.”

“Furries? What’s that?”

“Animagi for muggles.”

“That sounds cool, I’d want to meet human animagi,” Namjoon said.

Taehyung giggled.

“Sure, whenever you want Joon, I’ll take you to a convention.”

“A ani-sorry, no, a furry convention? Sounds fun, like a great bonding experience!”

Taehyung couldn’t hold back laughter, and Yoongi slapped him on the back of his head, demanding an honest answer. Taehyung then explained furries in great detail (Namjoon had no idea how he knew so much about such a niche topic), before Namjoon became incredibly embarrassed for his muggle-naïve-ness. Yoongi rolled his eyes and stretched his legs, getting used to being back in human form.

“How long were you gone?” Namjoon asked when he saw the cat fur all over the room.

“. . . the whole break.”

“No breaks? No changes?”

“. . . “ Yoongi didn’t respond, and chose to sit in the window in silence instead.

“Tae, can you give us a minute? Go tell the others we found him.”

“Okay.”

Namjoon sighed as Taehyung unlocked the door, leaving the room. He quickly put up a silence spell, blocking all their sound from leaving the room. Just in case.

“I’m sorry I forced you out of your cat, it probably hurt,” Namjoon started with.

“Yeah. It did.”

“But I’m only sorry because it hurt, not for the reasons I did it. Why did you run from me?”

“. . . you’d run too if a big, angry, clumsy idiot chased you.”

“You had every chance to show yourself to Taehyung, Hoseok, all of our friends, really anyone all break. But I assume you chose to lock yourself away.”

“. . . I stayed here. Hoseok’s bed is soft. He was getting lonely, and he wanted a pet.”

“You aren’t a pet.”

“It’d be easier if I was.”

Namjoon wasn’t sure how to respond to that, so he sat on the edge of bed closest to Yoongi.

“I thought. . . I thought Lee got you.”

Yoongi turned and blinked at Namjoon, an unreadable look on his face.

“He would never come here. And he wouldn’t go after me.”

“How are you sure?”

“I. . . I got a letter from Junki. Lee must have brought it out with him and Jameson. They gave it to my family owl and it arrived at the start of break. He forgives me.”

“Forgives you? He literally condemned your name. Why would he forgive you?”

“Something about blood being blood. He signed it in blood too. So was my name.”

Namjoon shuddered.

“So you hid in Hoseok’s bed so you wouldn’t have to respond to your brother's fan mail?”

“That, and other things.”

“I can’t read your mind. Tell me.”

“. . . I may have blown apart the DADA room, gotten a Prefect suspended, cracked Jin’s brother, and brought school wide attention to myself. Kinda figured it was time for a brain break.”

Namjoon paused, and they made eye contact.

“A Brain break? What is this, a muggle school?” Namjoon started chuckling, amused at the unseriousness in the bleak situation. Yoongi smiled, just a little, but soon was giggling too.

“Yeah, pretty funny response. But you’re right. I shouldn’t hide more. It’ll add more problems.”

“Easier said than done, no?”

“Meh-” Yoongi shrugged. “I’ll manage. Junki is still in jail, and Lee will be caught any day now. Solar can kiss my ass. You’re back. Life should be. . . fine.”
