chapter one the letter
I stare up into the gray clouds. The sound of rain hitting against the window was soothing. The door creeks behind me. " a letter has appeared addressing a mister potter to this address." Fukuzawa paused as he lay the letter onto the table to the right of him before continuing " do you want to tell me something" I knew where this was going he wanted to know if the letter was addressed to me or if it'd been a mistake of sorts. He knows my name wasn't my given name and that I wasn't japanese at all I was British but my Japanese was perfect I don't know how he found out but I must've messed up some how or he was snopping through my things or legal documents. Bur most likely the latter.
" fine you caught me happy?" I sigh he raised an eye brow and I contine knowing that he already knows " I'm british and my real name is Harry James potter" he nods already knowing "well then this is a letter for you then and thanks for telling me ranpo. I'm sure you have your reasons." He walked out. I quickly grab the envelope before examining it and checking the address and name.
Luckily for me it wasn't my uncles or aunts handwriting but then who else could have written it. I open the envelope and grab the letter inside not before noticing the wax on it obviously a school symbol of sorts the letter went like this :
'Dear Mr Potter, We are pleased to inform you that you have a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. '
so a 'magic' school invited me to participate and its in England. I'll talk to da- I mean Fukuzawa about it later.
I stare out the window for a few more moments before sighing and heading out the room with the letter.
I find Fukuzawa at his desk sorting through finished cases. I sit on the arm reat starting at the case files not wanting to make eye contact with him. "So ranpo what was in the letter then?" he says going back to sorting the files. "I've been invited to school" I say as I see him stop sorting them again. I look at him when he remains silent. he's looking at me with a confused look like he's trying to find out if it was a good thing or a bad thing. he looks down and back up at me before saying " do you wish to attend this school ranpo?"
I sigh " I don't know its in Britain so I won't be able to see you!!!!!." He replied to this out burst by holding up his hand gesturing for me to give him the letter. I place it into his hands.
it takes him a while to read through it as he was re reading alot. until he finally said " reply back to them and request a meeting with the head master I want to know if you do attend who you will be left with and check if it's a prank or not." I nod understanding the reasons for why he was doing it so I grabbed the letter again and walked back to my room.
I sat down with a pen and paper and started writing:
' hello my guardian would like to confirm whith you a couple of things about the school as to check it's not a prank either. he would like to meet the headmaster as to check if I do attend that I will be treated correctly and I would also like to meet you myself as you were referring me as harry potter. I no longer go by that name I have moved to Japan and have had my name changed to edogawa Ranpo and I would like to be addressed as such. please refrain from just showing up send a letter to confirm you can show up and meet with me and my guardian thank you for reading this.
yours truly edogawa Ranpo.'
I finish the letter and place it in a spare envelope that we had left on the desk before closing it and addressing it to hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry. I place it by the window as I grab a lollipop and place it into my mouth. a owl knocks on my window. the rain had stopped now. I open the window for it and it came and picked up the letter before flying off.
that's neat I guess as I went downstairs to help Fukuzawa with cases explaining what had just happened aswell. we sat there in comfortable silence finish what needed to be finished
