Chapter 12
Lily got her arithmetic results the next week.
Suffice it to say she was appalled.
It was the most muggle-like subject she took.
To please her parents mostly as they thought it practical were she ever to look for work outside the wizarding world.
But she felt her stomach drop as she was handed back her paper with 30% written in red.
How on earth did she score so poorly?
Lily rarely received anything but 85+.
A 30% was unheard of.
She would have to do better.
She saw Snape snigger as she received the paper.
he had scored 87% admirable on the first exam.
Her face turned a hot red a mix of of shame and anger.
As she walked out of the class she saw Snape at the door waiting.
Snape pov.
He knew the comment on the train had gotten to Lily for some reason.
He knew her too well.
Snape was furious about the company she was keeping lately.
He found it shameful to see his former friend hanging around with a mud blood.
Mary Mcdonald no less. From what he had heard she was a tart as well as a mud blood.
He wanted to get under her skin. To make her regret leaving him how she did. For judging him for trying to better his status.
He had seen her mark aswell.
He knew how much Lily cared about her grades.
This wouldn't be hard.
Lily pov
Severus stood at the door green eyes filled with a sinister glare.
What did he want?
"We'll Lily" He cooed.
She wasn't in the mood.
"Piss off sev" She bit.
"I saw that Mark" he said smirking.
"Good for you. You're not blind but you must be deaf. Because I said. Piss. Off."
She quipped sharply.
Snape looked like a snake before it unhinged its jaw to bite with venom.
"Maybe if you spent as much time studying as you did eating you might have scored better."
That was it.
Lily pushed past him shoving the skinny boy into the doorframe in the process.
It was the last class of the day.
Lily ran back to her dorm eyes stinging.
She wasn't sure why she was so upset.
Lily wasn't the type of girl to obsess over superficial things like weight.
But Snape's words chimed repeatedly in her head like mandrake cries.
She burst into her room to find it empty.
And ran straight to the bathroom.
Lily had been eating pretty healthy this week. Skipping pudding every second day and aiming for more veg on her plate.
But suddenly it didn't feel like enough.
Was her weight that noticeable?
Was she really eating so much that Snape had seen?
She pulled out the scale for the second time.
115lbs
1lb that's all she lost?
She wasn't how fast 5lbs would come off but she assumed quicker than that.
She pulled off her clothes panicked and stared in the mirror.
Her gut twisted as she looked at her reflection.
Maybe Snape was right.
She saw the fat on her thighs.
Around her arms hanging.
And the podgy look of her stomach.
How did she not see this sooner?
She thought of trips to the chipper with her family over the break and muggle chocolates and candies.
Was that what did this?
How did she lose control like that? And now she was failing a class only 2 weeks in? This was not like Lily Evans at all.
She had to get back on track.
She took one last sorry look at herself in the mirror and pulled on her still snug uniform.
Feeling slightly defeated at the revelation but more motivated than ever to control it.
She went back to the room.
She saw the cosmo tabloid lying near one of Mary's scattered clothes piles on her side if the room.
Lily walked over to the pink magazine with a thin blonde model on the cover.
She was beautiful and jarring.
With a look of awe on her hallow face. Her eyes popped with the bright blue eyeshadow and thick lashes and liner.
Her pink lips in a pouty gasp.
Lily never really paid much attention to Magazines she thought the hairstyles and clothes were very pretty. But she rarely found time to read them nor did she see it as very productive.
She stared at the flawless model.
Lily had bever felt insecure before but in light of everything that had happened lately, she couldn't help but envy the magazine cover.
She was perfect.
An odd thought occurred to Lily from nowhere.
"I wonder how much she weighs?"
