Chapter 10
James and Lily arrived 10 minutes late.
It should have been 15 but Lily rushed them along at twice the pace it would usually take to walk from the common room.
James was trying his best to use the opportunity to make conversation.
Lily was trying her best to be on time.
He found it oddly cute how panicked she was about them being late.
By the time they got to class everyone already had their partners for the tessomancy lesson.
James saw Lily sigh at this.
Her dorm mates Mary and Marlene smiled sympathetically.
Professor Twikle,
A tall gaunt woman with white blonde hair and huge bulging blue eyes.
Gave them a look and told them since it's the first class she wouldn't take any house points but in future they should be more punctual.
And that they would have to be partners for the term since all other pairs were made.
The last bit of news delighted James.
He felt that he was finally showing Lily he was a little more mature and this was just the optunity to prove it.
James had read about Tessomancy this morning it was the magic of tea leaf reading to predict the future.
He found it really interesting learning about what all the different symbols represent .
Professor Twikle explained that they would not be reading eachothers leaves today only learning to recognise symbols.
The symbols that were shown as examples for the students to guess were (as far James could tell)
A vase, a necklace, a plate, a dog, and a dagger.
The pairs were instructed to inspect these examples and guess what they were.
"A tilted cross maybe?" Lilly guessed looking at the last cup.
"Think it's a dagger actually." James suggested.
"Ohh you're right." Lily realised
"And that ones a dog I think" Lily said.
"Looks like it" James replied.
"That third one looks like a moon "(the symbol of romance and new love). James smiled cheekily wondering if Lily would notice.
"No I think its actually a plate look at the rim." She corrected instead.
James felt a little disappointed he thought that was pretty smooth of him.
"Good job Lily!" Professor Twikle praised.
"Do you know what the plate represents?"
James had read about the plate this morning it represented trouble at home.
He thought of Sirius when he read that.
"Yes Mrs" Lily replied.
"In tessomancy for this symbol to appear in the top of the teacup as we see here" she pointed at the cup "means a conflict in your family."
She was so smart James fawned.
James wondered if Lily had thought of anyone when she read about that symbol.
"Very good Mrs Evans I expect you'll do well on your test next week."
James looked over at Lily blushing after the praise. Of course she would do well she was the most amazing witch he'd ever met.
