chapter 8
James left Ainsley shortly after Lily.
"You can come find me if you need help with anything. Or if anyone gives you trouble"
he reassured the girl as he left.
"Oh and try not to be too upset You're in the best house" he gave a cheeky grin and left to find Sirius.
James finally tracked the marauders down.
Sprinting down the corridor.
"There you are Rudolf! Found us eventually did ye?"
Remus said sarcastically giving a half smile.
Rudolf was one of the many variations of deer nicknames created by the marauders.
"He was too busy chatting it up with Evans to see us leave." Sirius teased
"Something like that"James didn't bother to argue
James smiled to himself. Lily.
........................................................................
After a few minutes the boys had finished "unpacking". And by unpacking they really just stuffed everything into their drawers and called it a day.
Remus moved on to stocking his shelf with some muggle books.
"What's that one?" James asked
"This?" Remus said gesturing to the thick hardback in his hand
"Yeah that one. It looks old is it really a muggle book?" James said suspiciously
"Yeah this is the Illiad. It was written hundreds of years ago by a Greek writer named Homer. It's read by muggles but I think I read somewhere that Homer was a Squib."
"Oh cool. Is it any good then." James shrugged
"It's pretty tragic but it's one of the most beautiful things I've read." Remus nodded to James.
James was staring at Sirius who he now realised hadn't spoken in minutes.
This happened a lot since June.
James walked over to Sirius's bed and Remus went back to organising his shelf.
While Peter was busy going through lists to see what he had forgotten.
"You are alright Padfoot we are in the dorm back in Hogwarts "
he said gently putting a hand on Sirius's shoulder.
This was routine to him now.
Sirius would get lost in himself and his mind would go back to that house. When this happened James would help him leave it. Again.
"You're safe."
