There's a spidder in the kitchen!!
There was a spider knocking on the window.
Harry, who had been sat on the sofa with a bowl of chicken noodle soup, leapt up to open the window.
The spider flew into the room buffeted by the wind.
Harry closed the window and spun around to look at the spider now sat on his couch.
"Who are you?" Harry asked with a frown.
"I mean, I know who you are. Spiderman right?"
The spider nodded. "It's Spider-Man with a hyphen. Everyone gets that wrong."
Harry looked at the spider for a moment.
"Okay..."
Harry wondered how many times his home could be invaded in a month.
"What exactly do you want?" Harry questioned.
The spider gasped and reached into his pocket. How did he even have pockets in that thing?!! The suit was skin tight!!
"Mr Stark sent me to give this to you!!" Spider-Man thrust his hand out- an envelope enclosed in it.
Harry took the proffered stationary, and tore it open under Spider-Man's curious gaze.
"He's inviting me over for dinner with the Avengers tomorrow night. Couldn't he have just sent an email?"
The spider shrugged.
Then, if possible, the spider's eye lenses conveyed a sense of embarrassment.
"I may have offered to deliver the message myself... I really wanted to meet this mysterious Harry, Steve's always banging on about. Also, you're the only other kid that hangs around the Avengers tower. I wanted a new friend."
Harry looked at the arachnid and smiled. "I wouldn't mind having a friend, Spider-Man."
If possible, the spider began to purr and vibrate in his seat.
~~~~~~~~~~
Harry was having dinner with the Avengers.
If there was one thing he had to say, it was that the rag tag group was an absolute mess.
Tony sat in his seat munching away on the chicken kickers that had been ordered. His mouth wide open, chicken spraying out of it every time he spoke- which was a lot. No wonder the man ate so much. Half of the food put in his mouth ended up on whoever was unfortunate enough to be sat next to od opposite him.
Clint and Sam were throwing pasta across the table into each other's open mouths.
And missing more often than not.
Natasha was busy slurping up spaghetti in a very dignified manner, and Bruce was...
What was Bruce doing??!!
Harry stared at the man as he spoke to his meal, or at least that's what it looked like he was dong.
"Oh, that's normal." Spider-Man whispered into Harry's ear.
Harry jumped to look at his new friend.
"Bruce is just talking to the other guy about what they would both prefer for dinner."
Harry continued to stare at the man wiith his mask pulled halfway over his face.
"You've got a um.." Harry pointed at the BBQ sauce smeared over the spider's cheek.
"OH!!" Spider-Man hastily wiped it away. "Thanks."
Harry gave a grimace of a smile, and went back to watching Bruce now stuff his face full of mozzarella bites.
Thor and Steve were sat at the oldies table as Tony called it. It was simply a table with fortified viranium legs, because Thor liked to bash his vibranium tankard onto the vibranium tabletop when he was finished drinking is mead- not made with vibranium.
And Steve?
Well, Steve had an annoying tendancy to slap the table with his hand when he laughed at any joke- read everything- Thor had to say. So the vibranium table had a hard time of it.
Much like Harry.
Harry slurped up the last of his drink and slapped his knee and stood up with a:
"Well!!"
And walked out of the room to go home.
There was a spider pouting from behind him.
~~~~~~~~~~
There was a spider on Harry's sofa.
Again.
This time, it had entered through the front door.
Then, Harry had served some cups of tea in his bone china tea cups, and they'd eaten Victoria Sponge cake; home-made; with his silver cake forks.
And now, the spider was beating him at Mario Cart, but Harry didn't mind.
He had a new friend.
There was a spider in Harry's house.
A spider, called Peter.
