The hot summer air filled the small restaurant at which Remus and Sirius were sitting. It didn’t help that the other patrons’ breath reeked of alcohol and sweat. Remus’ eye landed on the karaoke section of the restaurant, glazing over it with disinterest.
“We should sing something,” Sirius said, as if reading Remus’ mind
“We?” Remus replied, the thought of having everyone’s eyes on him making his skin crawl.
“You can play piano and I’ll sing!!” Sirius exclaimed, the idea becoming more enticing the more he thought about it.
“Sorry love, I’m not quite pissed enough to do that yet.” Remus replied.
“Please?” Sirius whined, batting his eyelashes at Remus.
Remus let out a deep sigh, bracing himself for what was to come. “What song?”
“Hmm… let’s see what they have,” Sirius said, holding out his hand for Remus to take as he led him towards the song book. Sirius took several moments to peruse the song book, flipping absentmindedly through the pages until one seemingly caught his eye. He froze, whispered something to the person in charge of the music, and shot a mischievous smirk towards Remus. Remus slowly sat near the piano as the DJ handed him some sheet music. It had no title. Remus took a few moments to practice the chords that were listed before looking at Sirius. The overhead lights glimmered down on him, radiating off his skin and releasing an incandescent glow. Sirius glanced behind him, grinning that Sirius Black grin. Remus couldn’t stop the smile that tugged at the corner of his lips. The lights dimmed ever so slightly and Remus took that as his cue to start playing.
“We were crazy to think, crazy to think that this could work, remember how I said I’d die for you?” Sirius began singing, keeping eye contact with Remus the whole time. “We were stupid to jump in the ocean separating us, remember how I’d fly to you?” Sirius started to dance along to the song, slowly swaying his hips back and forth.
Remus couldn’t help but stare, suddenly grateful for the dim lights that (hopefully) covered his flushed cheeks. At that moment, it seemed as though they were the only two people in the world. Remus’ vision narrowed to Sirius, never once taking his eyes off of him.
“We might just get away with it, the altar is my hips, even if it’s a false god, we’d still worship this love.” Sirius' voice sounded.
Remus’ eyes wandered down to Sirius’ midriff, where his cropped shirt was lifting, revealing his glowing skin. Remus missed a key on the piano and silently cursed himself, looking at Sirius to find him smirking. He knew the exact effect he was having on Remus. Sirius’ voice sounded again, like a siren call, but Remus couldn’t make out the words anymore, instead solely focusing on Sirius’ face, which he had memorized every inch of.
“Still worship this, love.” Sirius ended the song as the lights returned to their normal illumination. He turned to the crowd and dramatically bowed, even though most patrons had already returned to their previous conversations. Remus quickly stood up and dragged Sirius back to their car, pulling him in for a passionate kiss before grabbing his hand and smiling, content with his lover in the seat next to him as they drove home.
