What Happens When Hadrian Fails to Hide From the Fools

Hadrian’s POV -

The rest of the break was spent with Hadrian living in the library of the Black Townhouse.

Hadrian apparated to Platform 9 ¾ via Kreacher, who was happy to help. He looked around and saw Draco and Blaise. He walked towards them.

“Harry! Wait up, mate!” A voice from behind him yelled. Draco and Blaise looked in his direction as he turned around.

“Do you need something, Weasley?” Hadrian asked, barely keeping his annoyance out of his tone.

“Oh, come on Harry! Let's go to the train! Hermione says that she already has a compartment for us!” Weasley says enthusiastically, before grabbing Hadrian’s arm.

“Let go of him, blood traitor,” Draco said before removing Weasley’s hand from Hadrian. Weasley sneered at Draco and attempted to grab Hadrian again, but Blaise blocked him. Weasley sneered again before leaving. That was strange. He is usually more confrontational. I expected that to end with Weasley threatening us.

The trio of friends made their way to an empty compartment at the end of the train which Hadrian warded, to the awe of his friends. Hadrian then pulls out a book (taken from one of the darkest corners of the Black Libary, but no one needs to know that) and starts to read.

“Hadrian, if we leave the compartment, will we be able to find it again?” Draco asked. Hadrian nodded.

“Anyone who is not Granger, Weasley, or Finnigan can see the compartment,” Hadrian said. Draco nodded before leaving the compartment. Blaise soon followed after. Theo enters the compartment at some point.

Quite a few Slytherins come and go from the compartment throughout the trip. All were told not to enter if Granger, Weasley, or any other Gryffindor was around. Some coming for homework help. Despite being a first-year, Hadrian was well-known in Slytherin for being somewhat of a prodigy. Enphase on somewhat, because they all were quite aware of where he got his information from, not that any of them cared. Others came because Hadrian had a library in his compartment and wanted to borrow books from him. However, Hadrian only lent out books that came from bookstores in Knockturn Alley. He didn’t trust any of the Slytherins with books from the Black Library.

~Draco’s POV~

Draco was in a compartment talking with Daphne, Pansy, Millicent, Tracy, and Blaise when the doors were slammed open by a familiar pair of Gryffindors.

“What did you do with him you snakes?” Weasley sneered.

“With who?” Pansy asked.

“With Harry Potter, you snakes!” Weasley yelled.

Pansy looked at Draco, who looked at Blaise, who looked at Daphne, who looked at Millicent. They all had an evil look in their eyes.

“There is no ‘Harry Potter’ attending Hogwarts, are you sure you have the name right? You wouldn’t be talking about Harry McMillan would you?” Blaise asked. Weasley sneered again. It seemed like the only thing he could do was sneer.

“No, you idiots! I’m talking about Harry Potter! The Boy-Who-Lived! MY BEST FRIEND! The one you kidnapped!” Weasley yelled in their faces. They all rolled their eyes.

“As Blaise said, there is no one named Harry Potter who attends Hogwarts, school of Witchcraft and Wizardry,” Draco said calmly. Inside though, he was cackling at the faces of Weasley and Granger.

“He’s talking about the one you call Hadrian. Though, that's not his name. His parents called him Harry Potter, he is known as Harry Potter, and thus he should be called Harry Potter and accept it,” Granger said.

“He has said that he wants to be called Hadrian. If you don’t respect his wishes, then can you truly call yourselves acquaintances? Or are you just strangers who know his name and nothing more about him? You call yourselves his friends but you don’t know the first thing about him. You don’t know his favorite subject, his favorite food, or anything about him other than his name. Weasley, you call yourself his best friend but Hadrian never interacts with you other than those fights you have in the hallways. And even then, he never starts them. If you were truly his friend, he would seek you out at times. Whether to hang out together, or play games. You can’t call yourself his friend because you don’t do anything a friend would either. If both of you were his friends, you wouldn’t try to fight him constantly. You would defend him like he does for us. Even if the world was against him, you would stand by him. But you don’t. And we all know this. Because we are his friends. His true friends. If the world was against him, we would stand by him. If he asked us to fight for him, we would do so without question. Because unlike you, we know him. Because he seeks us out, he defends us, he interacts with us, we are more than just housemates to him, and he shows this. We know what he enjoys and what he doesn’t. We know that he loves the color green and treacle tart. We know that he enjoys books more than games, we know more than you ever will. So stop lying to everyone. All of Hogwarts is well aware of your lack of friendship. And no other than you cares. So leave the compartment with your tails between your legs and leave us in peace. Because trust me, no one wants you here,” Tracy said.

Weasley and Granger looked stunned before closing the door of the compartment. Blaise whistled.

“Nice speech,” Millicent said. Tracy blushed and hid her face in a magazine. The others in the compartment laughed before returning to their conversation before they were interrupted.

~About a week later~

~Hadrian’s POV~

Hadrian and his friends were leaving their classroom when Weasley, Granger, and Finnigan stood in front of them.

“Do you need something?” Hadrian asked.

“Come on Harry,” Weasley says. “Let’s go play exploding snap!” Hadrian looked at him.

“Who Harry?” Hadrian asked, he heard from Draco and Pansy about what happened in the compartment on the train. It seemed fun to try it out on the trio.

“You, who else here has the name ‘Harry’?” Finnigan said.

“Actually, there are 3 other Harrys in Hogwarts. There is Harry McMillian, Harry Conrad, and Harry Kepler,” Blaise corrected. Draco, Pansy, and Tracy seemed to be attempting to hold in their laughter. While Millicent chuckled and poorly attempted to it in a cough.

“I’m not talking about those Harrys. I’m talking to the one in front of me obviously!” Weasley yelled.

“There is no Harry here. Are you sure you're okay? Don’t have a cold or anything?” Millicent asked. Tracy let a chuckle escape.

“He is standing right in front of you,” Granger said. “You call him that silly name, ‘Hadrian.’”

“Are you insulting me, Granger?” Hadrian asked calmly. Granger sputtered. “After all, my name is Hadrian, but you insist on calling me a name I do not recognize and that could be considered insulting.”

“N-no. I’m not insulting you. I’m just saying that since everyone knows you as Harry Potter, you should recognize that is your name,” Granger defended. Hadrian smiled.

“Hey! Stop bullying her because she’s a muggleborn!” Weasley yelled. Hadrian looked confused.

“Please, if we were going to bully anyone, it would be you, blood traitor,” Draco sneered. Weasley growled.

“YOU SLIMLY SNAKE!” Weasley yelled while growing red.

“You know, any redder and he’ll turn the same color as his hair,” Blaise commented. Draco and Hadrian chuckled. Weasley pulled his wand out.

“*EXPOLSO!*” Weasley cast. Hadrian pulled out his wand as he cast *Protego Maxima*. The explosion of pressurized air dissipated along the shield. All of Hadrian’s friends had their wands out and pointed at Granger, Weasley, and Finnigan. Granger and Finnigan pulled their wands out as well.

“Now, now, wands down. No fighting in the corridors. 5 points each from Gryffindor for starting a fight. 40 points from Mr. Potter for casting a spell and you, Mr. Weasley, Ms. Granger, and Mr. Finnigan all have detention with Hagrid at 9 o’clock today. You are to report to Hagrid’s hut,” Dumbledore said with a smile on his face.

The Slytherins sneered. Hadrian and the rest of them left the hallway. After walking for about 20 minutes, they made it to the dungeons and went into the Slytherin common room.

“Hadrian, you have to tell Snape what happened! He’ll get rid of the detention and restore the points! You were just defending us after all!” Blaise said.

“Yeah, Severus will probably take points from those no-good Gryffindors too!” Draco said.

“Fine, I’ll go tell him. He’s not teaching a class now is he?” Hadrian asked. Draco shook his head. Hadrian went to the portrait of the 27th Head of Slytherin, which was the entrance to Professor Snape’s office, and asked the former head to let him know that there was someone at the door.

A few moments later, the portrait swung open revealing a cozy-looking office. The floors were dark brown wood with dark green couches in the front of the room around a coffee table. There were a few bookshelves lining the wall and at the back of the room, there was a dark wood desk where Professor Snape was sitting.

“Do you need something Mr.  Peverell-Potter?” Professor Snape asked.

“I was wondering if I could talk to you about a detention I received, which my friends seem to think is unfair,” Hadrian said politely. I hope he listens to me. Cause at the moment, I sound like an entitled brat.

“What seems to be the issue?” He asked.

“I was leaving a class when I and my friends ran into Weasley, Granger, and Finnigan. We had an argument and Weasley pulled out his wand and cast at us. In turn, I pulled out my wand and cast the shielding charm. Then, Dumbledore appeared and took 15 points from Gryffindor and 40 points from me for having my wand out. Myself and the Gryffindors all got a detention with a person named Hagrid at 9 o’clock,” Hadrian explained. Snape nodded, in what Hadrian presumed was understanding. After all, Dumbledore’s favoritism was infamous.

“I shall see if I can get the detention removed, though that is unlikely. If I am unsuccessful, I will have it switched to myself. You will meet me here at 9. Oh,  and 50 points to Slytherin for defending others and 10 points to Slytherin for sticking up for yourself,” Snape said. Hadrian nodded and left the room only to run into his fellow first-year Slytherins.

“Well?” Pansy asked.

“He gave back the points and said he would try to remove the detention but that probably won’t happen. Since it won’t, he’ll move the detention to with him instead,” Hadrian explained. The Slytherins nodded.

~8:59 PM~

~Severus Snape’s POV~

Severus sat at the desk of his office, with a cup of tea and a stack of homework to grade on the side of his desk and one thing on his mind. Harry Potter, or Hadrian  Peverell-Potter. The current king of Slytherin, son of two very well-known Gryffindors. He was supposed to be sorted in Gryffindor but against all odds was sorted into Slytherin. And I like an absolute dunderhead, swore a vow to protect him. But how? The Dark Lord would kill him the moment he saw him and Albus is a power-hungry manipulator. And taking him out of the war isn’t an option.

“Professor Snape, there is someone at the door for you,” The 27th Head of Slytherin called out. “I believe his name is Hadrian  Peverell-Potter.”

“Let him in,” Severus replied. The portrait swung open. “Mr.  Peverell-Potter, take a seat.”

He took a seat on one of the couches and Severus moved to the one opposite of it.

“Professor, how is your night going so far?”  Peverell-Potter asked.

“My night has been going well, what about yours?” Severus asked.

“Mine has been going well as well. Professor, if the war was restarted, whose side would you be on?”  Peverell-Potter asked. Severus’ eyes widened.

~Hadrian’s POV~

“That would depend on a multitude of things,” Professor Snape said.

“Including?” Hadrian asked.

“Who has the most advantages, who is more organized, where would I be a valued member,” He replied. He’s dancing around the question. I’m taking such a gamble.

“Perhaps I’m not being blunt enough. I’m asking sir, whose side are you on?” Hadrian said.

Professor Snape sighed. “Yours,” He said exhaustedly. “Yours Mr. Peverell-Potter. Yours.”

“And why is that Professor?” Hadrian asked.

“Because I made a vow to protect you, and I plan on keeping it,” He answered. Hadrian kept a straight face.

“Here are some letters I found in the Potter Main Vault. They are addressed to you, I thought I would deliver them, good night Professor,” Hadrian said before leaving.

~15 minutes later~

~Severus Snape’s POV~

Severus stared at the ceiling. She forgave me. She forgave me for everything. The name, being a death eater, everything. And even more so, she made me his godfather. And Potter, Potter asked for forgiveness. Never in a million years did I think that would happen. Severus let out a dark chuckle. Why did he care what side I’m on? Something’s not right here.
