Chapter 1

Everyone knows the story of Harry James Potter, the boy who lived. Or at least they think they do. Few know that actually on July 31, 1980, Lily Potter gave birth to twins: a boy and a girl.

Both children didn't remember much about their parents but decided that they must be wonderful people if their relatives hated them with such ardor.

Living with their uncles had not been easy. Everyone thought their life had been one of the best, and Daisy, now that she was grown up, often found herself imagining, to her amusement, the look on people's faces if they knew about the way the "chosen one" had been treated during his childhood.

The countless mistreatments they received from an early age affected them in different ways. While Harry suffered in silence until he exploded into full-blown fits of rage, Daisy studied everything that was happening around her. That is why, when their letter arrived from Hogwarts, while her brother was bursting with joy at the mere idea of leaving, she was frozen; whoever this Dumbledore was, He knew that they lived in the cramped closet under the stairs and did not move a muscle to help them. She did not comment on it, however, not wanting to bring down her little brother's morale. That was taken care of by Uncle Vernon, who took a beating when he realized that he had no choice in the matter of that aspect of their lives.

Unlike her brother, Daisy hated being in the spotlight so she didn't mind much when people forgot her existence. She soon learned to distinguish between people who really wanted to get to know her and those who intended to use her to get closer to her twin. Of course, she was aware that it was not Harry's fault.

She often tried to influence him positively with the aim of protecting him as an older sister should do. Unfortunately for her, once they arrived at Hogwarts it became increasingly difficult to keep up with her brother, who for some strange reason was always getting into trouble. So she was not surprised when Harry returned from the last challenge of the Triwizard Tournament announcing Voldemort's return.

Life at school for his brother had not been the best and, after that statement, it only got worse. Their fifth year began with the arrival of their new professor of defense against the dark arts, Dolores Umbridge. The harpy, in addition to being a spy for the ministry, had in just a few months taken the school under siege by stipulating a set of ridiculous rules that only Filch was okay with. As she thought of a way to convince Harry to stay under the radar for a while, she was stopped as she walked through the dungeon.

" What's a Hufflepuff doing out after curfew? " grinned a Slytherin, bumping into her. " As a prefect, I should be throwing points at you. "

" If you're alone it can have two meanings: you've finished your patrol and are ready for bed or you've been wandering around breaking the rules too. " She replied, displacing the boy.

" No Hufflepuff would answer like that. " The prefect said confusedly. " You should apologize and ask me the favor of not taking points away from your house. "

The girl raised an unimpressed eyebrow at the comment loaded with prejudice. " If we are to follow that line of thinking, you should not talk to me because I might have been a Muggle-born. "

When she continued walking as if nothing had happened, the boy followed her, repeating that she should return to her dormitory.

" you caught me, I might as well take you with me otherwise the loss of points will have been in vain. " reasoned Daisy, not dignifying the prefect with a glance. He smiled to herself when she realized that he was actually following her, intrigued.

" Exactly where are you taking me? " asked the boy, as he watched raptly as he caressed the pear portrayed in the painting in front of them. When a doorknob popped up she gave him no time to ask more questions and showed him directly what was hiding behind the door: the kitchens.

" Miss Daisy, you are back! " Winky shouted, approaching her excitedly as she asked what she could prepare for her that evening. " And you brought a friend, I'm glad you are no longer alone. "

Daisy ignored the comment as embarrassing as it was true and lowered herself to her height, smiling at her. She was glad she was able to calm the little creature who had even gone so far as to throw on alcohol to punish herself. " Thank you Winky, I'd like a hot chocolate while my guest here will take... "

" That's fine with me too, thank you. " said the boy, looking at her curiously.

" Have a seat, I'll have Dobby prepare some treats. " bowed the elf before getting down to business.

The two students took their seats at one of four tables that exactly replicated those in the great hall, and to break the silence Daisy explained to the Slytherin that it was all set up that way so that the eating would magically transport itself to their respective tables.

" You are one of the strangest people I have ever met. " said the boy, suddenly.

" I feel offended because I know for a fact that you know Vincent and Gregory. " She muttered, causing the boy's lips to contract into a small, amused, smile.

" I'm Theodore Nott. " He quickly introduced himself, remembering that he had not done yet.

" I know. " the girl nodded, smiling when she noticed a turbulent elf carrying a tray of sweets toward them.

" Miss Daisy, how is Master Harry Potter? He hasn't visited for a long time." said the elf, concerned.

" I haven't seen my brother in a while either. I guess he must have gotten into trouble again. " the girl commented distractedly, noticing how the boy squinted his eyes at her revelation. Could it be that he didn't know her identity? " But don't worry, one day I'll make him come to his senses. Even if it's the last thing I'll do. "

" Dobby, don't bother. " Winky called him back, leaving two steaming cups on the table and walking away, taking the other elf with her as she scolded him for being rude. Daisy had to hide her laughter with her hand, knowing that if Winky heard her, she would scold her as well.

" Now that you know who my brother is, will you maintain your Slytherin scene and run away in disgust or will you astonish me by staying here? " Daisy asked, curious about the choice he would make.

" You're not a typical Hufflepuff, are you? " retorted Theo, biting into one of the muffins and looking at her as if he had to solve a particularly complex puzzle.

" Let's just say that I find the idea that a human being is represented by only a few characteristics ridiculous. I think it's insulting to think that being intelligent and curious is a Ravenclaw prerogative just as it's equally ridiculous that people find this sorting reliable when you have people like Vincent and Gregory in your household who certainly don't seem to be the most astute or enterprising. " joked the girl.

" So you think the sorting hat is a useless object? " asked Theodore, not at all shocked by his reasoning and, more importantly, without defending his comrades.

" No, I talked to him during my sorting and he agrees with me on many aspects. It explained to me that it takes into account each person's wishes or how much they might grow within a particular household compared to others. " said Daisy, unaware that she had just shocked the boy in front of her. " For example, did you know that there were never any cases of Muggleborns in Slytherin because the prejudice about your house is so strong that all possible candidates refused to enter it? Even my brother chose to be in Gryffindor. "

" Potter was supposed to be a Slytherin? " the prefect asked horrified.

" Yes but Hagrid and Ron didn't give him a good description of your house, and as you noted we're back to the prejudice talk. " said Daisy, taking a sip of the hot chocolate unaware that she had just rocked her snacking partner's world. " But I admit Draco only made things worse with that awkward and rude presentation. "

" I could have been sorted to Ravenclaw but I knew my father would not be very happy. " admitted the boy, smiling slightly. " So if you don't think it's useless, how do you think the hat should be used? "

" I guess it is wiser to have the first five years attended in mixed classes so the students would not being influenced by blood status and household and then be sorted out at the beginning of the sixth year. " reflected the girl, not saying aloud that her goal in life was to become a principal so as to improve the experience of children within the school.

" When everyone has matured enough to have formed their own thinking or at least have their own character. " nodded Theo, shocked to find himself in agreement. " What about the house cup or quidditch? "

" I don't like Quidditch so I don't have the problem while the cup is a tool that only increases the rivalry between the houses. " answered Daisy. " And not a positive rivalry. Several things said and done in this school go unpunished. "

" You don't like Quidditch. " he repeated offended.

" No sport to be honest. " admitted the girl, slightly embarrassed. " I only know something because my brother loves any sport in existence and keeps telling me about it to my sorrow. "

" You are an extremely cynical person and from that glimpse of conversation we had, I didn't find any Hufflepuff traits in you. " commented the boy.

" I would advise you not to be fooled, Hufflepuffs can be pretty badasses if they want to. " smiled the girl before adding, " But I'm also a fiercely loyal person. "

" Toward Dumbledore and his cause? " Theo then asked. He did not seem to be looking for information to convey but simply caught up in the conversation.

" God, no. " snorted Daisy. " I'm loyal to my brother and anyone I deem worthy of such importance. "

" So if your brother hangs on the old man's lips.... " pronounced the prefect.

" I'll stick to Harry and try to pull him away. If I can't, I help him through whatever buffoonery is in store for him. " replied the girl truthfully. " And if you ask me, I find yellow a horrible color. "

Theo then began to laugh while watching her change the color of her tie to black.
