Chapter 2
After that evening, Theo and Daisy continued to see each other from time to time developing a close friendship. They decided to keep everything quiet because letting anyone know would be destructive to both of them.
They went from discussing important issues such as the treatment of most wizards toward magical creatures to more frivolous topics such as their favorite genres of music. Thus it was that they began a serious diatribe about Theo never having listened to Muggle music that went on until he allowed Daisy to be able to let him listen to something at their next meeting.
He confessed to her that he could see thestral after a lesson with Hagrid, almost in tears when he admitted that he had been beside his mother the day she died. He confided to her that his father beat him that same day for being too emotional, and she comforted him by standing beside him and reassuring him, reminding him that emotions had to be shown, that they did not exist to be ignored.
She reciprocated by telling him about those who had raised her, explaining that horrible people always existed, not making extinctions between wizards and non-wizards. She told him how last summer she and her twin spent a few weeks with their godparents (Sirius and Remus) and that she hoped they would release them, asking to move in (as they should have done from the beginning).
While they spent the nights opening their hearts, during the day they ignored each other pretending not to know of each other's existence. During those hours, Daisy would watch out for her brother, participating in the defense lessons they carried out secretly. Everything that happened during their training, she would later teach it to Theo the same evening hoping thus not to leave him completely defenseless whatever would happen in the future.
She was proud of Harry and knew, watching the way his eyes light up when someone could reproduce a spell well, that he loved to teach. At least, with the founding of this ridiculously named illegal organization, Daisy had been able to make a dear friend. Luna was certainly a singular girl but she did not see her as someone to be ignored or made fun of as many did. It seemed that both Potter twins had taken the young Ravenclaw girl under their wing seeing her for her great potential. She was a powerful witch with great powers of observation whose gentleness was often mistaken for ignorance.
" This room is great for hiding when you don't want to be found. " Luna commented as they walked away toward the great hall. " Maybe you could show it to your friend so you don't risk being discovered. "
Daisy did not ask her how she had learned of her friendship with Theo but thanked her for solving one of her biggest problems. She had long been terrified that her brother and his friends would see them together using the map. Fortunately, they had been too busy for the past two months to even have time to sneak away, giving her the freedom to move around the castle.
" Have I ever told you that you are a goddess? " Daisy asked, hugging her.
" I have been called many horrible things but never like this. " smiled the blonde, moving toward the Ravenclaw table, heedless of the angry look her friend directed at some of the girls she knew were responsible for bullying Luna.
When Daisy reached the Hufflepuff table she was welcomed by Cedric smiling at her, happy that Luna and her had found each other. The poor boy had begun to take her lack of friends seriously to the point of stressing unnecessarily about it. It was not that she was lonely, she talked to many people but did not consider them real friends as much as acquaintances to spend time with from time to time.
Feeling guilty for not showing much interest in her classmates' lives, she asked Cedric how he was doing with school and if he was worried about this year's exams given the siege they were under. The boy laughed amused when he realized he was talking about Umbridge and reassured her by telling her that his brother was doing a great job even in filling in the gaps of a seventh grader.
" To tell you the truth, it makes me feel a little uncertain knowing that a smaller boy knows more than I do. " Cedric admitted, smiling slightly to let her know he was joking.
" He may be well-versed in subjects like spells and defense but when it comes to everything else he's a real idiot. " she joked, trying to reassure the older boy.
" Thank you, it's nice to feel appreciated by your own blood. " snorted Harry, sitting down next to her and stealing her food from her plate like it was nothing.
" Don't you have any food at your table? Thief. " Daisy scolded him, hitting him in the hand with her fork when he tried again.
" I'm next to Ron, how much food do you think goes through his stomach and how much through mine? " Harry explained, beaming when his sister surrendered, allowing him to eat with her.
" Why are you here? I thought you forgot you had a sister. " she teased him, grabbing his hand under the table and checking that the wound was healing properly.
" I know, but Christmas is coming up and I wanted to give you a present. " Harry said, stiffening when he saw Umbridge get up from her seat. " I'll let you know later, toad on the way. "
" Don't do impulsive shit. Apologize to her if she says something to you. " her sister ordered him, concerned.
" I can take care of myself. " he quickly reassured her as he walked quickly to his seat.
" Excuse me if I doubt it. " she muttered, before apologizing to Cedric for the turbulent interruption that was her brother. The older boy blushed slightly as he explained that he didn't mind her spending time with Harry at all because they were cute to look at. Of course, the girl did not miss the fact that when she said cute she was looking at her brother as if he had hung the moon.
" Don't worry it will stay between us. " Daisy smiled knowingly at him. " I'd advise you to kiss him so you can be clear, though. You won't be able to do anything else because he doesn't understand when someone flirts with him . "
Of course, she realized too late that she had said it all while Cedric was drinking, making his juice go sideways. Daisy then began hitting him repeatedly between the shoulders while apologizing.
" Daisy, I think the poor Cedric is all right. " Professor Sproute said amused. Mortified, she banged her head against the table. Her embarrassment grew when Cedric burst out laughing at her ridiculous reaction, followed by other Hufflepuffs who had watched the scene.
Her embarrassment worsened when, following Harry out of the great hall, she saw Theo grinning at her with amusement in his eyes. What she would give to be able to tell him to fuck off, she thought regretfully while walking away.
