They'll think of me kindly
A couple days later Sirius and Remus came to visit.
Regulus heard the doorbell ringing as he was laying on James' lap. He heard Lily answer it and say, "Sirius, Remus how lovely of you to visit. Please come in."
Regulus' head snapped up at hearing the name, he hadn't seen his brother since before the school year and he took note of every change as Sirius sauntered into the living room.
His hair had grown longer and it looked messier than before, he had heavier eyebags than usual and he also sported a new moon tattoo on his ring finger.
"Oh, Siri! Hey, we weren't expecting you!" James called from his spot on the couch.
Sirius's head turned to face James and he was about to say something when his eyes landed on Regulus.
Oh shit Regulus thought as they both stared at each other
"Umm, James?" Sirius voiced, "Who's that?"
"This is Whiskers, he's our new cat!" James laughed, his laughter increased when he saw Sirius' reaction to the news.
"What?" Sirius whispered as Remus and Lily looked on.
"Our new cat, Sirius," James said slowly as he tried to stop laughing, "I found him outside and we decided to keep him."
Sirius gasped and threw his hand onto his chest.
"James!" He cried, "How could you do this to me?"
James erupted into laughter which prompted Sirius to double over laughing and Lily to start chuckling at their antics. Remus just lifted an eyebrow as he looked at Regulus with a knowing look.
Regulus stared back before he got up and walked up the stairs.
Well, that was weird he thought

Remus knew that face.
He was surprised no one had noticed it before. Given that he was living in James and Lily's house.
"Regulus." He whispered as he watched the cat go upstairs.
Lily turned around, a confused look on her face. "What?" She asked.
"Nothing," Remus replied, "Just thinking."
Lily looked at him skeptically before she offered to make drinks for everyone.
Remus declined as he thought about his new development.
I could tell them he thought they might think I'm crazy though
Harry started to cry and James went to get up.
"It's ok," Remus said as he got up to go upstairs, "I'll handle it."
"Oh, Thanks mate," James replied as he sat down again, "Just call me if you need me."
"Will do." Remus called.
He'd made up his mind.
